A good time! by TaiaK

Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Ship was very clean. We noticed this year RC implemented handing out antibacterial wipes to all prior to each meal. There was also staff in bathrooms almost all the time cleaning. Many things to do but boy, do you feel the size when you walk to and from your room!

Family with young teens in a suite by YvonneC3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall we had a lovely week with The Mariner . The suite was great (Grand Ocean) best we've had, clean roomy and well cared for in all respects. There was a bad leak on our balcony over three days, but no apology or sense of understanding . Long pipes dragging through our lovely room, one day . Next me hiding behind the curtained bed whilst men at work. Next me stuck in bathroom waiting for them to leave....amazing really ! The Concierge lounge facilities were well used-- it is a small room, no windows etc BUT small selection breakfast ,always quiet , coffee close to our room, cappuccino etc., evening canopes and honor bar was excellent. Portofinos and Chops were both excellent BUT the food in main dining room was not inspiring. Repetative, often bland or cold. The wine and drink service was organised separately ,and wine would arrive after main course and an elderly gent would pester for after dinner drinks when we had just got (eventually) our meals. Very badly timed in all respects, we only used it twice ! Windjammer was always hectic, lines for desserts and again repetative, salad was ham or cheese ! A roast meat each day with Mashed potato and mashed potato and mashed poatato !! Oh and burgers , sausage and chips... We used the sushi in the evening, which was good but exactly the same every night with a variation on the hot dishes. The ice show was great as was all the extra facilities _ Ice rink- roller blading - Rock climbing - mini golf etc. Good to have for the teens. Childrens activities were also repetative and the registration was non existant. Why can we as parents visit on day one discuss the risk factor and elements available and sign up where we feel apropriate, instead of our children chasing us down in tears to fill out a disclaimer form, whilst missing their valuable event moments,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, it happenned on three occasions -- very lapse, uncontrolled is the word. Suggest :- Day one discussion, and sign for each thing, as Carnival do, it is much better. Plus parents are reassued right from the start, of what is available and the risks/controls in place. We had bad weather and could not tender into Cayman. We heard many minutes of explanation over the tannoy about it, but not one note of understanding or apology . We were not asking for anything we just felt like a commodity, a we're so sorry, or , we can understand how you must be feeling. NO just long winded explantions ! and far too late. We were up dressed and breakfasted by the time the announcement came .rediculous!

Could not get from one end to the other easily. My mom is handicapped and I would not recommend this ship to anyone who needs assistance.

a good time by Renatef

We had a very nice time on our cruise. We especially liked the kids adventure ocean program they had. The food was not as good as I had expected but ok. We were a little disappointed with the two excursions we took. The submarine was not worth 100.00 a person. The pirate adventure was not very good either. They seemed to be just kind of winging it and only one person from the ship really interacted with the people. Wasnt worth the money. I wish we would have swam with sting rays instead

Not what Royal Caribbea use to be by LindaK12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Recently took my family who never cruised before on the Mariner of the Seas and the ship is beautiful. This is my 9th cruise with Royal Caribbean and I was dissapointed. It seems like you are getting less for the money. The Windjammer buffet was very good and we ate dinner there two nights because the choices at the Dinning room were not all appealing to any of us. Love the feel of the promanade deck but the cafe needs much improving with their foods. I know midnight buffets are a big wast of food, but what happened to the Grand Buffet and caribbean night buffet by the pool? They use to be great. The pool activities have become hardly any, when that is where most people are on the days at sea so there should be alot more activities at the pool. As I said the service was excellent but the rest needs improvement or back to what it use to be. Paying for Johnny Rockets? don't you make enough money on drinks and other charges, do you really have to charge for that? We enjoyed St Marrten and St Thomas especially snorkeling. Last year I sailed on Carnival that was OK but Royal Caribbean has always been my favorite but now I just wish I could feel that way again.

We felt the cruise ship R.C. Mariner of the Seas was the best we have ever been on. The staff was marvelous and very helpful and pleasant. Our balcony cabin was delightful and started off each and every day anticipating the days activities and fun atmosphere..

Quality family time cruise by MariaS6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The first 3 nights were very rough however the sea was calm. Kids were sick and did not eat dinner 2 nights. Other ships travelling at the same time to the same ports did not experience rough sea (possible stabilizer issues?) The food was abundant however not as good as Celebrity Line. Staterooms were much smaller that we thought and did not accomodate luggage for 4. With all that said, we still had a great time the last 4 days of the cruise. The staff is fantastic and try hard. The shows were also fabulous.

Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Mariner of the Seas is an amazing ship. This was my sixth cruise and this ship is by far the nicest. The decor, the architecture, the attention to detail is exquisite and second to none. I give it a 10/10! 2 thumbs up!

An Okay Time by Jennifer8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was beautiful. At first glance, I was very impressed. I had a great time exploring the ship from top to bottom. There was a lot to do. I did not bring my children, but I believe they would have a good time. I heard from parents that their kids were bored in the camp area, however older kids would have a great time in the pool, ice skating rink, mini golf area and arcade.

AN AWESOME CRUISE by VickyM1

Sail date: /
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had only been on the celebrity and it was great. this ship was so big and the promenade deck was great with food and shops and the parades were good too. I think the pool deck needed more interaction with people doing music and learning dances. My husband and I work out in the gym and don't understand why there is a charge for spin and yoga. They don't take anymore effort to teach than the low impact I took. It is dissapointing to see the ship charge for those. they should be included and more will participate.the midnight buffet isn't midnight when you can't eat it until 12:30am. a lot of us walked out as too late. the food goes to waste. perhaps starting it around 10:30 to observe and then 11:30 to start eating, more would participate. We thought the rooms were nice even if small. service was great! we would travel it again. The shows were very good. a lot of choreography and costume changes quickly. It was excellent. and other shows too.Met Johnny and he seems like a real likeable fellow and funny too. He did an excellent job with the crew and the ship. we had a blast !!! thanks

Thanksgiving Week Cruise by NicholasP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise, but we were very much impressed with the high level of customer service by cabin attendants, waiters and staff. Meals were first class. The Thanksgiving turkey dinner was one of the best we have had in a long time. This ship had a 24 hour snack bar with great coffee and fantastic cookies and desserts. The gym, you needed it to work off all the calories for first class with free weights, cardio equipment and exercise machines with enough equipment that no waiting was required. The room, balcony, was comfortable and surprisingly large with a great bed - slept like a log every night. Getting on and off at stops was relatively easy. The boarding and deboarding process was also trouble free. It took only 30 minutes from the time we were call to go through customs, get our luggage and drive out of the port. The Port of Canaveral is easy to get to and with excellent parking. All in all it was a great experience. We highly recommend Royal Carribean and Mariner of the Seas.

Royal Trip! by A1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We loved the Mariner of the Seas. She was abeautiful Ship. The weather could have been better, but one cannot control that. For the price that we pay, I feel having to pay extra for soda is unreasonable. We quickly caught on tht when they offer you a "something special", it is followed by a signature on your Credit card. They could skip Ochas Rios Jamaica completely, no need to go there... spend an extra day at Grand Caymen instead or got to Labedee for 2 days. I explored the whole ship for a week and tried to do at least eveythin once, I ran out of time. SOO many things to do. Also it would be better if they had more activities for the 18-21 year olds. Would love to go again!!!

mexico and carribbean cruise by CarolP67932160

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Mariner of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is our second cruise with royal carribbean and we loved this boat. Great Shows every night. Dinning rooms where beautiful. Seated with another family with teens around the same age as ours. The one thing that did bother me is we were next door to a smoker who sat on their balcony and smoked which made it very hard for us to use our balcony at all. I do think smokers on one side of the ship and nonsmokers on the other would work out better.
