Review summary

Excellent itinerary!  Great way to see many islands to see where you may want to just fly to and stay for a week sometime in the future!  However, with only one day at sea and going to port each day....all day.....the beverage package may not be worth it unless you drink an awful lot in the evenings!  At $100 per day extra per couple...that adds almost an extra $1000 to your cruise price! Do you have that kind of bar bill at home in a week?   The food seemed to be more catered to "Puerto Rican" tastes in the buffet areas....probably because it leaves from San Juan and many Puerto Rican people were on the ship.  I would have loved to have had other international type menus rather than just mainly Latin-type food.  Also enjoyed that this ship was not a "mega" floating building in the sea.  It was walkable without feeling like you are "lost at sea"  on your ship!

Best room on the ship as far as we were concerned! Viewing the stars from a back balcony Priceless!

We flew into San Juan and stayed a couple of days in beautiful Old San Juan...so we returned our car rental to the airport the day the cruise ship took off ( 8 p.m.) and took a taxi to the pier.  We were able to get through the process and get on the ship in about 20 minutes!  We arrived about 12:30 p.m. that afternoon and got right on to enjoy the day on the ship and some lunch!   So.....if the ship takes off in the evening.....make sure to get to the ship by about noon and avoid the crowd.....even though your items won't be in your room.....pack a swim suit and enjoy the deck!  Also....the Windjammer menu did have SOME variety and I didn't mean to say it didn't......but more Latin flavor than any others I thought.  The end of the week 11 p.m. buffet on the deck was.....tacos!   I was disappointed...no variety....and it lacked desserts and fresh fruit.....just tacos...and not even any shredded lettuce to put on them...just re-fried beans! yuk! What is a taco without shredded lettuce????? I've cruised Carnival before and remember quite a spread for the midnight deck buffet.   Remember though....this is just one person's opinion!   ;)

I wonder if something changed with the Windjammer menu. On our previous Jewel cruise the first day was Caribbean themed, but after that each day had a different theme (Italian, Asian, American, Euro).
