Review summary

This was our third cruise to Alaska.   Jewel of the Seas was a beautiful ship with lots of lectures available about glaciers, fish & wildlife, and even 2 about Canadian Mounties. The cruise director and his wife, who was the activities director, were really fun people.  The shows were great. We booked our excursions from the ship and all went smoothly. It was our first time seeing Sawyer Glacier and it was worth the trip.  There is never any control over weather, but it was perfect....in the 60's and sunny every day.  We would highly recommend this trip on Jewel of the Seas.

Entertainment

The enterainment was good but, we have been on other ships that had better shows. It's just a matter of personal taste. The band for the shows was excellent...probably the best band on any ship we have sailed.

Ship tip

Before you book a certain room number, make sure you are not over a lounge area. They play music until about midnight. We didn't find the Sea View café until the 6th day of the cruise. They had the best sandwiches and snacks.

We did the White Pass Train ride. The train was enclosed with very large windows. The tour guide was great with lots of historical information, legends, & stories of the Gold Rush days. The trip was pricey but well worth it.

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

5 out of 5
Breathtaking scenery and lots of wildlife, seals, eagles, mountain sheep & goats. The Sawyer Glacier was the high-light of the trip.

Victoria, British Columbia

We took a city tour combined with the tour of the Castle. The parks were beautiful with blooming gardens. Near the end of the tour, we had the bus driver let us off in the city. We toured serveral buildings & took some great pictures, then walked about 2 miles back to the ship. Very friendly city.
