Review summary

Trip of a lifetime. Smooth sailing, great staff, good memories. Princess is our choice.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Well organized and swift. A little exhausting journey to get through the Cruise and Customs Embarkation process but acceptable. process

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The restaurants are the way to go. Service in the restaurants was excellent and made us feel like guests. The buffet food was acceptable but truly 'Buffet' food.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We mostly enjoyed the talks by Mark Harris. His background, style, personality, and knowledge added value to the journey bridging us into the nature we were there to experience.

Entertainment

4 out of 5

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The members of the Princess team were consistently professional, friendly, and dedicated to creating a positive and memorable experience.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Given the age of the vessel, we were prepared for something less than what we experienced. We were pleased that the ship appears to be well-maintained and cared for. Common areas, while perhaps somewhat 'dated', were clean and well enjoyable.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was in good shape and clean. The design of the shower does leave a little to be desired with a shower curtain that is too short to properly direct water into the shower base.

Ship tip

Know about the 'Crab Shack' experience. We missed out because we were not aware of the one-night availability of the experience and the need to sign up immediately.

Ports of call

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

4 out of 5
Our experience was good and our fishing expedition was excellent. Seeing the construction of additional port space to accommodate more cruise ships does seem a bit ambitious. The port seems adequate to support one cruise ship. The flood of additional ships at the same time has the potential to diminish the experience of the port with overcrowding.

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
While we didn't spend a lot of time in the port, the Wale watching excursion and tour of the area was interesting. While we were not lucky enough to see many Whales, we applaud the naturalists we spent time with and their efforts to provide a memorable experience.

Skagway, Alaska

4 out of 5
Our visit to Haines was enjoyable and memorable. Our hosts provided insight into the area that made it well worth the visit. That the area can accommodate so many visitors comfortably is amazing.

Cruise Glacier Bay

5 out of 5
Well planned navigation provided everyone with ample opportunity to experience the wonders of an active glacier.

Cruise College Fjord, Alaska

5 out of 5

Whittier (Anchorage), Alaska

4 out of 5
We didn't really get a chance to visit the port. Our early morning disembarkation stretched was somewhat exhausting in getting off the ship and to the train in time. It was somewhat of a blur.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was 'fine' The process was swift and painless. The organization that goes into making the process simple clearly makes a difference.
