Liked the Anytime dining - more flexible.
Room service coffee is the only good complimentary coffee (much better than in the dining room or buffet). De-caf coffee is not available in the bars. The fitness Center is well equipped. There is no dedicated outdoor track for running / walking. Pizzeria pizza is outstanding.
If you book on The Grand Princess Alaskan cruise definitely book a balcony. If your budget doesn't allow for a balcony - the morning of the Glaciers go up to the aft 16 floor and sitting in the hot tub what an amazing sight!
We were happy to have booked two balcony rooms - trying to squeeze a family of four into one cabin would be very tough unless your kids are young.
If you are traveling with a senior/ disabled person be sure to get a room that can hold the equipment ie a walker. there was no place to put a walker in our room and the small doors did not allow the walker and no grab bars etc not senior friendly The staff however were the best always helpful
- do NOT get a cabin at the front unless you really enjoy the motion. - buy the beverage option, it's worth it - buy internet minutes before embarkation for extra free minutes - research your port and consider just renting a car and doing your own thing instead of purchasing excursions
Get a cabin near elevators, hallways can be really long
Entertainment in the theatre arrive early but always good.
The international Cafe is a great place to have a good cup of coffee or cocktail and enjoy the entertainment.
Passengers were elderly so if you want excitement or partying, this is not for you.
I really like the 2 for 1 happy hour from 3:00 - 4:00 PM
I personally was just looking to read and relax on this cruise, so my favorite spot on the boat was all the way at the aft of deck 14 on the Starboard side there is a quiet place with chairs that you and relax and just look out at the ocean.
Midship is the best place to be.
if you can choose an any time dining - do it. More convenient if you are planing to go on the shore.
Have a Wonderful Time and Enjoy your Princess Cruise - better than ever!
Be sure to note that the side elevators ( where there are 4 in the middle and then 2 side ones) work on a different call system , so be sure to press those buttons too.
Looking forward for another cruise with Princess
This is not a tip. but wanted to share that Raj, salesperson in Effy was rude and unpleasant.
Don't go if you are Black. The white staff treat you awful. While on vacation you don't need that kind of stress. I will never go on the Princess Line and will let friends know not to go.
if you are 80 then this ship is for you but if you are a young 70 then go on Norwegian where there is a younger crowd and more activities poolside. Trivia and bingo were the main events on the Grand. Evening entertainment was good.
