I personally was just looking to read and relax on this cruise, so my favorite spot on the boat was all the way at the aft of deck 14 on the Starboard side there is a quiet place with chairs that you and relax and just look out at the ocean.

Be sure to note that the side elevators ( where there are 4 in the middle and then 2 side ones) work on a different call system , so be sure to press those buttons too.

The international Cafe is a great place to have a good cup of coffee or cocktail and enjoy the entertainment.

- do NOT get a cabin at the front unless you really enjoy the motion. - buy the beverage option, it's worth it - buy internet minutes before embarkation for extra free minutes - research your port and consider just renting a car and doing your own thing instead of purchasing excursions

If you are traveling with a senior/ disabled person be sure to get a room that can hold the equipment ie a walker. there was no place to put a walker in our room and the small doors did not allow the walker and no grab bars etc not senior friendly The staff however were the best always helpful

We were happy to have booked two balcony rooms - trying to squeeze a family of four into one cabin would be very tough unless your kids are young.

If you book on The Grand Princess Alaskan cruise definitely book a balcony. If your budget doesn't allow for a balcony - the morning of the Glaciers go up to the aft 16 floor and sitting in the hot tub what an amazing sight!

Room service coffee is the only good complimentary coffee (much better than in the dining room or buffet). De-caf coffee is not available in the bars. The fitness Center is well equipped. There is no dedicated outdoor track for running / walking. Pizzeria pizza is outstanding.

Spend enough time outside and breathe in the ocean breeze. If you sail out of San Francisco, you may be fortunate enough to view the invasion of 10s of thousands (a solid mass, almost) of orange jellyfish off the Farallon Islands. It is an unusual sight, but the ship's crew members say that they are often seen in this area and also in Australian waters. We saw them shortly before dark on the first day out.
