One of our best weeks ever!!!!!! by ChrisW14

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship Freedom Of The Seas was awesome. Everything was beautiful. All of the crew did every thing they could to make our cruise the best of our lives. Very grateful to ea. one. The only bad thing I can say is, that every cruise I have been on before didn't charge nearly as much extra for cocktails, All of the mixed drinks were at least $8.75, and a bucket of 6 beers on ice was $31.00 Bucks. Come on!!! I know that if you can't have your own alcohol on the ship and they make their honey money on drinks, but this is ridiculos. Other than that, everything was great.

Our Freedom Cruise by AlanaH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We really enjoyed our cruise on Freedom of the Seas. The staff was very accomodating, the food was incredible, the entertainment was the best that we have seen on any of our previous cruises. We enjoyed seeing the Captain perform during one of the musical programs!!! Freedom of the Seas was a beautiful ship.

This was our second cruise on Freedom of the sea. The ship is fantastic! As on our first cruise the ship was very clean, the crew was very friendly and helpful, the shows were excellent. The only fault we found was the food in the Windjammer wasn't that good

Not a cruiser by JaneC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I guess cruising just isn't for me. Everything had the same feel to it. All the bars with different names yet the same atmosphere. The activities were banal. The pool was horrifically loud and obnoxious. The adult only pool area was small and still affected by the noise from the party pool area. The food was edible to average. The service was average but most of all I felt like the whole experience was about selling me something. Buy drinks, buy jewelry, buy excursions, buy Royal Caribbean clothing, buy lottery chances...just buy. We barely had any time in the ports of call which to me was the point of the trip. The first place was their island where we were invited to spend more money on R C junk. It was a beach (good) but it was more opportunity to purchase something from them and less to experience a new place. The 2 islands would have been better if we had more time. 5 hours is not enough time to experience much. The spa could use a major overhaul.

Last Minute Booking bargain; Eastern Car by AnnW5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

For those who can book and travel last minute, Cruise 411 offers fabulous value. We booked three weeks prior to sail date. Getting away from the frost of the Northeastern U.S. to the Eastern Caribbean for a week was fantastic.

Kid friendly! Wonderful experience!! by JohnB86

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my first vacation with my wife in three years and since our 2 year old son was born. Since we brought the little guy along on this trip, it was extremely important to me that his needs were met. The staterooms were remarkably clean and our stateroom attendant personalized the experience. He called my son by his first name each time he saw him and took the time to speak to him. The other stateroom attendants in the hallway all came to know my son in his travels down the long corridor and it was a fun stroll to and from the ends of the ship. We dined in the formal dining hall only once and found that for a 2 year old, it was not the right setting (or food) for him. So we happily enjoyed the variety of tasty meals in the Windjammer restaurant for the entire trip. What I particularly liked about our dining experience was the same consistent friendly attitude by each of the waiters that tended to our needs. My 2 year old is in his "me too" stage and so he has to do what big people do. So it was important for us to find him a booster seat at the start of each meal. This was the first thing we did at each meal. My wife and I were relieved and delighted at the speed and interest that each waiter took in locating and delivering a booster seat. They even went so far as to speak to him like any other guest: "Would you like some more fruit punch?". And like a clever little 2 year old, he caught on to this whole waiter-thing. He was tickled to be able to order his own drink. Docking in ports was always on schedule and the disembarking procedures were simple and expedient. I should note that we almost did not make our cruise!! At the time we arrived at the checkin counter, it was discovered that the U.S. Customs agent forgot to stamp our passports! So it was a relief that Royal Carribean staff were able to see that we flew into the U.S. legitimately and arrived by car rental from the airport legitimately. Anyway, it could have been a nightmare before we even got started but "common sense" prevailed and we were happy once again. Our trip included stops in Haiti's Labadee, Jamaica's Ocho Rios, the Grand Caymen and Mexico's Cosumel. The destinations were fabulous and after speaking with other travelers on the boat who had traveled on other boats and cruise lines, we knew that for our first cruise vacation, we made the best choice! Before I took this cruise, I was always a believer that cruises were boring. I couldn't have been more wrong! The pools on the top deck catered to all ages and the endless ice cream machine maker made managing my son's day easier! Sure, he probably put on an extra pound or two, but it was a treat for him to look forward to, nonetheless :) Bonus points to solid construction of the staterooms. I thought for sure that I would be kept up all night by noisy neighbours and that was certainly not the case. I slept like a baby to the point that my wife kept waking me up because of my snoring. When you work day-in and day-out for months at a time and get about 5 hours of sleep a day, this cruise was heaven! I never thought about work the whole time I was there and I "finally" feel "rested". Good thing too because Christmas is just a week away. Anyway, I'm not sure what really else I can say except that cruises are for all ages! My wife and I are already planning our next escape to Royal Carribean and next time we will be brining my in-laws. This way they can let us have more time to experience the nightlife on the boat which we craved this time around. Thanks for a wonderful experience and we will be back!

Thanksgiving Cruise for Six by StephanA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was a beautiful ship, Freedom of the Seas, extremely large and it amazed me how clean the crew were able to keep this ship around the clock. The atmosphere was fantastic in all respects, crew was phenominal, and the entertainment onboard was top of the line. I was really suprised at the drink prices for alcohal, I expected it to be much higher, and I will say, there was no such thing as a weak drink in any of the bars. Our Head Waiter helped us out getting us seated with friends who were also on this trip, and the service throughout each dinner was perfect. The food was excellent with ample portions of everything. This was a truly GREAT experience and we have decided we are doing this every year if we can.

Great Ship, Terrible Food by AmyM5

The ship itself had a lot of amenities. It was easy to navigate around. It was clean. The only negative was trying to go between floors, the elevators were extremely slow.

The entire cruise was a great experience. Although, the "Court Jester" greeting people as they entered the cafeteria on the 11th deck became anoying at times.
