Our Cruise by FNDC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

In general this cruise is one of the best Western Caribbean cruises. The Roual Caribbean Freedom of the Seas is a great ship with a great crew and service staff. The only drawbacks of the cruise involved the excursions which were generally not well coordinated and to short (I would like to see fewer port stops with more than one day in some ports). The other minor drawback was that the food could have been better (the food service staff could not have been better, just the food). The entertainment and activities on board the ship are first class and by themselves would be a reason to take this cruise and adds at least one star to the cruise rating.

great time by Pattt

our cruise was great, good food, excellent entertainment. The cruise director, Richard Spacey, was very entertaining and made the shows, contests more fun than they would have been without him. Our waiter was very attentive and met our needs every night.

Awesome Experience! by MaryandDesma

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My husband and I just completed an eight day cruise on Freedom of the Seas. It was truly an awesome experience! Coco Cay was fabulous - the free island buffet and free rum punch was great. The staff was friendly, very helpful and professional. Food aboard ship was delicious. The entertainment was great. The ship was clean. This was a very enjoyable experience. My husband and I are looking forward to future cruising with Royal Caribbean.

the whole pkg. by bwcruise

Our first time on a ship and what a surprise to find elegance and fun all together. Its better than an all inclusive place to stay because there is more to do on a ship than you can get done while your there.Plus you have the ports of call the itinerary is endless. And where can you get the food or should i say cuisine that you get on board at any time. And i cant forget how close you get to your personal waiters that you get to see every night ours were named kwesi and preety they made the dining experience unforgettable.Would i go on a royal carribean ship again absolutely if i only had the resources to go every year i would .

Husband's 50th Birthday Cruise by z6400

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Great staff and a beautiful ship. Lots of activities on board but it seemed like alot of the time they were all happening at the same time which made for some hard decisions. Excellent meal choices. The Windjammer cafe' tends to get crowded around 9:30 for breakfast. Definitly planning our next cruise. Love Royal Caribbean.

Not the best experience by Bella07

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was big and beautiful but dirty. Windjammer dining room was crammed and the carpet was dirty on Day1. The windows and balcony glass was dirty. Service was ok from the bar staff to the room stewards, not overly friendly and did not go out of their way. The anytime dining wait staff was what made our cruise a wonderful experience. We had Dias and Wilfred who were awesome! The food was excellent in the Dining Room. The Cruise Director was Great, he had lots of energy and kept you entertained.

Freedom of the Seas 5/12/13 by PSRET

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Cruise was excellent. Ship was beautiful, food was excellent, and service was outstanding. The only really negative thing was a smell outside our stateroom, presumably in the carpet that smelled like sewage. They said it would go away but it did not.

Relaxing and Smooth-Sailing by Cruisevet91

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our Freedom of the Seas cruise was pretty much what we expected. Royal Caribbean knows how to run a ship. Compared to other ships we've sailed on, the food was better than average in presentation, variety and taste. We thought the production shows were very good but the rest of the ship's entertainment was just average and other activities not as plentiful as on other ships. The opportunity to ice skate was a huge plus which we enjoyed and took advantage of on three separate days. Pre-cruise embarkation and final disembarkation were amazingly quick and problem free, the best we have ever experienced. Staff were helpful and cheerful. Stateroom accomodations were fine and the ship was quite clean even though the decor was not as asthetically pleasing to us as on other ships.

May 5th Freedom by yeldew

The staff were beyond excellent. With exception to the cuts of beef served, especially in the Windjammer, were gristly, everything else were good. My wife and I cruise on the Freedom at least 3 times a year and except for the beef love it.

Excellent ship and excellent service by cruise16

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Wonderful experience. Large ship, but didn't feel overwhelmed with passengers. Lots of room, lots of activities. Wonderful service. Enjoyed all of the ports of call, in particular Labadee, Haiti. Would highly recommend this cruise to friends.

Good but very boring by boringboring

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I could not find fault with the ship or its crew. They were great!! Food was fine and plentiful. During the two days at sea there was very little planned for the passengers except for the endless sales of out of date and unusable items. You should be ashamed to offer such rubbish!!! The ports of call were poor with Falmouth Jamaica the worst. It is a shame because the ship was great.

Great Cruise - Check out no so much by RoxyF

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had the best cruise experience with Royal Carribean. The stop at Labadee was just great, I thought it was going to be boring, but it was far from it. I recommend doing the barbecue. The lines looked long, but they move very fast. I enjoyed each port of call. The stop in Jamaica is great until you past the gates and then you are bombarded with vendors not only hawking their wares, but almost rushing you. My only issue was with the Guest services desk. Each night as you try to tally up your services, or get a repair done, the waits are very long. My last day on the ship there was an issue with my credit card, which I had explained to Guest Services the night before and was assured it was taken care of, but as I attempted to exit the ship, a very long alarm went off as if I was a criminal and one of the sailors yelled, "Your credit card won't go thru." I was so embarrassed, that is until another couple experienced the same rude sailor. I called my bank and explained what the situation and was told that there is no problem except that they needed the card to be swiped and not typed in. My suggestion would be that you tell the helpers that they need not say anything except Guest Services needs you. Even though that was my worst experience it is a shame that it happened on the way off the ship. Roxy F.

Amazing trip!!! by AliCoppola

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I went on the Freedom ship for our honeymoon! It was such a perfect way to start our marriage! The ship was beautiful and the staff were fabulous! Our stateroom attendant was wonderful and we were taken care of to the extreme the whole entire week! We definitely did not go home hungry as the food was extremely delicious! Royal Caribbean just started doing an all-inclusive drink package which was so worth it for me and my husband. Everything was so relaxing and we did not have to think at all during this trip! Our next cruise is booked already! :)

Perfect Family Vacation! by IllinoisFamily

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our 5th cruise (4th with Royal Caribbean), we took our 10 year old daughter and 5 year old son and it was wonderful! The ship was perfect, very clean, excellent staff, and awesome food! Our kids had so much fun at Adventure Ocean every night which gave us some time to relax. While on the cruise, we visited the Spa, the shops, many of the bars, the ice skating rink, the Flowrider, and the sports deck. We ate room service for breakfast, visited the Windjammer for lunch, and enjoyed My Time Dining in the dining room at the same time with the same waitstaff each night. Everything was PERFECT! The only con is that our son couldn't participate in many of the activities that he wanted to because of his age :( Even though he was bigger in height and weight than some of the 6-7 year olds participating in Rock Climbing, Boogie Boarding, and Ice Skating, he was unable to do those activities because he was not 6 years old. We did take excursions in Grand Caymen and in Cozumel. In Grand Caymen, we took a tour that included a visit to the Turtle Farm, the Rum Cake Factory, the town of Hell, and swimming with Sting Rays. The stop at the Rum Cake Factory was a waste of time, and we expected the swimming with sting rays to be a controlled environment, but it was not. It was in the middle of the ocean with wild sting rays and our kids were scared to death! In Cozumel, we did a Dune Buggy tour with snorkeling, a stop to see crocodiles, and a beach break, and it was GREAT! The kids had a blast riding around the island in the buggy, and my wife and I had so much fun driving it!

Attention to Everyone by Islandbaby

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our experience was awesome! I was amazed at how Royal Carribean HAD events for all ages. I have read other reviews about tweens had no activities, however, I feel that was an error on the parents side. The Crypt was geared to the tweens and other activities but you had to really read and educate yourself on the ship to KNOW about all the activities. The Compass delivered to your stateroom each day had it all. If you do not read it then you & your family are really losing out on the entire Royal Carribean experience. I cannot say enough great things about Royal Carribean. I feel I will cruise with no one else. Especially out of Port Canaveral. Only the BEST will do!

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We have been on 6 cruises during the past several years. Two of our cruises have been with Royal Caribbean. This last cruise was truly our BEST cruise ever! We are looking forward to next year, hopefully, to returning to Freedom of the Seas! We want to take the Western Caribbean cruise on Freedom! It was such a wonderful experience going to the Eastern Caribbean....and we are looking forward to going to the Western Caribbean on the same ship! The staff were absolutely wonderful! The ship was beautiful, offered the best entertainment we've ever seen, and the food was delicious! The ports of call were very enjoyable! Everything was the best! Thank you for a great cruise vacation!

Spring Break by Bowlings

Loved the ship, it was clean, large with great amenities for everyone in our party (11, 9, 2). The 9 and 11 year olds loved the H2O zone as well as the rock climbing wall and flowrider. Our service and food was excellent, a very good trip for us.
