By Far, Our Best Cruise Yet...... by kptrgt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Although this is only our 5th cruise, I have to say we were most impressed with this ship. We had more fun on this boat than we've had before. Much of this experience was in direct relation to the service we received, from our room steward,Ketut, Roberto, April & Edwardo in the dining room, Raphael in the Champagne Bar & "Brat" in the Bolero Bar. We will definitely take this ship again, not really caring where we go....although it has to be warm. It was a great 7 days, that I totally wish we could "do over".

Happiness is a retirement cruise on Freedom of the Seas by twolm2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

From day one of planning to the actual cruise I was excited. My cruise planner (Jenny Fenner) is an awesome planner  and made everything so easy. I was a little nervous since this was my first full week cruise.

Royal Caribbean and the Crew on Freedom of the Seas made everything a total delight. Our room steward spoiled us rotten. Our dining experiences in Isaac's was wonderful and oh my the food was delicious! A relaxing adventureous time, now I am dreaming of my next RCL cruise!

A glorious week with my honey by annf731

Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

It had been one long year and a half since we sailed on a vacation cruise....we lost two family members in that time and we needed to regroup....we needed to relax and enjoy each others company, as only a cruise can offer....It was a perfect week, the food the weather, and the ship were all perfect....we  sailed on the Freedom four or five times before so we knew we could count on RCCL.

Poor!!! by disney25

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

SadWe have been on a total of four cruises and this was our first on Royal Caribbean. We were not pleased with the kids program!! Our kids have loved cruises in the past because of all the activities they were able to experience. This cruise they were so unhappy that they have stated they will not ever go back on another Royal Caribbean cruise ever again. We always travel with multiple families of 20 or more and they all said they were unhappy as well. Royal Caribbean just lost a lot of business from our families!!

Fabulous! by Retirees

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first time on a cruise and we are very pleased with the cruise ship size; the restaurant, the dining room and the promenade staff were always smiling and helpful; the shore excursions/shopping. Lots of entertainment.  Our stateroom attendant was very pleasant and provided great service (spoke 5 languages including french).

Freedom of the Seas 7nt Western Carribean Cruise by Sk1pp3r

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great time!  The ship was fantastic and we lucked out on the weather.  The food was pretty good, however, being vegetarian we had more limited options.  I found out half-way through that you can order veggie burgers in the Windjammer Cafe by request and also grilled cheese.  They were both very good.  The balcony room was spacious enough and we loved sitting on the balcony watchnig the entry and exit of each port.  The shows were very good.  Our favorite was the magic show.  The ship was overall very clean and everyone was there to make sure we had a great experience.  I would definately recommend this ship.

Our destinations included: Labadee, Haiti; Falmouth, Jamaica; Grand Caymen; and Cozumel, Mexico.  We enjoyed each one.

In Haiti, we lounged on Nellie's Beach where is wasn't too crowded and the water and wind were calm.  I did the snorkel excurion while my wife soaked up the sun.  The water and guides were great but there really wasn't too much to see.

In Jamaica we did the Dunn's River falls and although it was crowded we had a blast.  We booked through the cruise line and our guide on the bus said to come straight back to the bus instead of spending time in the village at the top. They told us not tell anyone our name or they would carve it in a keepsake and expect you to buy it.  We did as told and told them no thanks and promptly made our way back to the bus. They brought video cd's straight to the bus if you wanted to purchase them.

In Grand Caymen we did the Sting Ray City and snorkel tour.  This was by far our favorite part of the cruise.  The sting rays were all over and they gave you food to feed them.  We both felt we had enough time with them and then we were off to snorkel in the crystal clear water.  I had to delete so many pictures of the teal water when I got back since apparently I kept taking them over and over in disbelief.  There was much more to see on this snorkel trip than in Haiti.

Next up was Cozumel.  I went on the 2 tank scuba dive while my wife who had been there before stayed on the boat to relax.  The dive was great and the water just as clear.  Visibility was around 70 feet as we sat on the bottom and could look up and see the boat plain as day.  Again lots of fish to see and neat things around the reef.

Overall we loved the ship, the food, the shows, and excursions.  We would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a Carribean get away.

Love Royal Caribbean Cruises - Treated like Royal and they listen to you.  Always FUN!!!  Wanted more dance music and we received it.  Dining experience was the tops.  Watier and Asst. waiter were the best ever.  Activities on ship were outstanding.  Loved the Ice skating rink and show.  All other shows were fantastic.

HAD A GOOD TIME by Linry

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our third cruise with Royal Carribean and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  The other cruise we've taken was with Carnival and our opinion is that RCCL is much better.  We were most impressed with the efficiency of the check-in.  It was quicker than we had anticipated that more than 3,000 people would be processed.  Our stateroom attendant kept our room very clean at all times and the towel "sculptures" he made were phenomenal.  We really enjoyed the food in Galileo's, the my time dining saloon.  There was good selection on the menu every night which made choosing what we wanted for starters a difficult choice.  Generally we ended up having  one of the delicious soups plus.  The seafood dishes were especially good and, if you like lobster, make sure you start with the seafood salad.  The selection of freshly cooked warm rolls every night was great.  Our waiter and assistant waiter were very pleasant and made our dining experience even better.  Breakfast in the Windjammer provided a very good selection of foods and no one should leave there hungry unless they are extremely picky.  The ice show was particularly good and not as crowded as we hd been led to believe.  All the stage shows were also good.

my experience with Freedom Of the Seas by JuneCW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

i went on this cruise with group of 15 friends and stayed in the stateroom 9611. My overall experience was quite good. I was impressed with the facility, activties, service, and food. Before this ship, I took Princess Alaska cruise coulpe of years ago and thought it was quite good. Comparing to this one, i would say Freedom of the Seas is a bigger ship with more facilities and fun activities. Also this time i went with large group of friends, so i had moer fun this time. the food, comparing to the Sun Princess ship, may not be as that in much variety, but the quality is definately good, I enjoyed every meal until the last day and I was n't tired of it! All the staff are very friendly and helpful, and they are available for me whenever needed.

Good cruise! I definately will recommend the cruise line to my friends and relatives.

Royal Caribbean Cruise to Haiti,Jamaica,Grand Caymans,Cosemel by halvy1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our cruise was a fabulous cruise with exquisite food, wonderful dining room & state room service.  We enjoyed the activities on the ship including the wave rider in the back of the ship.  Learned to stand up surf & boogie board for the 1st time.  Not bad for a 61 year old.  Had the time of my life.  Enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people from all over the world.  Especially enjoyed a young couple from London, England & hope to visit them some day & they to come to our home in Minnesota.

The music & entertainment was superb!!  The ice skating show was also a highlight of our trip. The shopping on board was fabulous & the spa & medical team were fantastic.

The only negative experience we had was with the guest services department.  And it wasn't with the clerks at the counter, but with the supervisor.  We had signed up for a data package on the cruise & either our phone of the ships software in connecting us was a great difficulty.  We had an internet data bill of over $700.  $713.99 to be exact.  We contacted guest services & they said that a supervisor would call us to help with this situation.  She never called & the clerk that helped us called our room & said she wasn't able to be found.  Said to come to guest services the next morning & try to resolve with a different supervisor.  This we did at 8:00 the next morning when we were departing the ship.  We were told the supervisor could only reduce our data bill by $300.00.  We had signed up for a $49.95 package & it kept on charging us even when we were off the ship on excursions & doing the normal activities on the ship.  We tried to show these to guest services.  The clerks understood but their hands were tied by what the supervisor decided.

It is inexcusible that a supervisor of guest services would be unavailable the last night of a cruise when guests are trying to resolve any issues on their bills.  I was very dissapointed with how this was handled.

My husband just retired the 1st of the year & we would like to do more traveling.  This is the 1st time we have sailed with Royal Caribbean.  We were extremely satisfied except for this experience with guest services.  We spent on our cruise $503.00 on excursions, $190.22 on wine & drinks, $980.05 on gifts & clothing, & $1,702.64 at the spa.  I don't think we are the kind of customers you want to be disallusioned with Royal Caribbean!

We hope this review will get some kind of response & that appropriate measures would be taken with the guest services supervisor that was in charge the last night of the cruise.  We sailed Feb 16 - 23rd, 2014.  Thank you!

John & Susan Halvorson

Freedom of the Seas Eastern Caribbean by maharden

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our 25th cruise. This was the best designed and prettiest ship on which we have sailed. The Royal Promenade area is a great addition to the ship.  The service on this ship was excellent, including the dining room staff and the stateroom attendant. The food was good, but not quiet as good as Carnival. The biggest need for improvement was the itenerary and shore tours. There was too short a time scheduled in each of the ports and not enough time scheduled in the shore tours. Though we had about 9 hours in one port, the shore tours were only scheduled about 4 hours. Our beach and snorkeling tour only allowed about an hour at the beach. Got the impression they wanted to get you back so you could shop and spend money. Otherwise it was an excellent cruise.

2014 Freedom Cruise by FloridaRJR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

Great cruise.  The Freedom of the Seas is a beautiful ship, all services and food were terrific, and the shows were entertaining.  Labadee was a pleasant surprise as it was been improved greatly.  Our shore excursion to a plantatation in Jamaica was interesting.  Our shore excursion in Grand Cayman to swim with the sting rays was phenomemal.  We went shopping in Cozumel and enjoyed the friendly people and a good restaurant.  Our cabin was fine and seas were calm the entire voyage.

PARADISE ON WATER by GingerRuzinok

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

From the moment we stepped  aboard, I was amazed how efficient the staff was.  Our family is still talking about the most enjoyable time we had and are planning to relive this week again soon.  Our waiters every night made our dinner special and we would love to be their guest again.  Madison, Jami and Aurora had tears in their eyes, parents too, the last night we spent with our outstanding waiters, Iwayou Budiosoi and Fellington Fernandes entertained us with their magic tricks.every evening.  I was also amazed that the water pressure was terrific and HOT HOT.  The gentleman who cleaned our room was excellent and very personal.  We have so many good memories that we will hold close to our hearts and hope to cruise again SOON.  Ginger  Joe Ruzinok

The food was great!  The entertainment great!  We especially liked the ice show.  Dinners were amazing and our table of people couldn't have been better if we chose them.  Everyone in service on the ship was helpful and kind.  I would highly recommend the cruise line and the Freedom of The Seas ship.  We have cruised many times.  Three times with Royal Caribbean.  This was the smallest room we have ever had.  Did not have a couch.  We would be sure in the future to not have an adjoining room.

Lots of choices for Travelers of All Ages by CruiseALot31

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Freedom of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I have done several of Royal Carribean's cruises, and of all this ships I have travelled this is by far the best.  The amount of choices for people of all backgrounds and ages will leave everyone finding something enjoyable to spend thier time.  The staff however was not nearly as hospitable as I have come to expect from the typical RC Staff.  Bar staff were clearly not happy about the new drink packages, and simply ignored guest with a paid package to attend to those that were buying drinks one at a time.  The drink packages were not cheap, and it was very annoying to have to hunt down a bartender just to get a simple drink...especially when the packages already included gratuity.  I addressed this issue with the manager of food and beverages, only to have the manager use my name with the bartenders!  That evening when I attempted to purchase a drink the bartender asked why I had gone and made a complaint about them....I was horrified!
