Great attempt at a wonderful cruise that falls just short.

Review summary

Nice cruise on a somewhat tired ship. 4 of the ship hotubs were too small for anything more than 1 adult to fit comfortably. The jets on the hotubs were not properly aimed or serviced (shoots a lot of water in peoples faces so they cant really enjoy the jets when turned on).The crew was fantastic but the activities and entertainment seem geared towards a senior crowd. Nothing stays open past 1AM and left many younger passengers wandering the halls looking for a place to gather and share drinks and laughs. The Rolling Stone lounge was a missed opportunity to have the gathering place that would have made the cruise much for fun for the younger crowd. However, the cruise was saved by an AMAZING stateroom, great views and scenery of the cruise are, and amazing ports of call. Book if you're looking for a quiet and more reserved cruise and an early bedtime.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Ship restaurants are ok, the speciality restaurants are better but some dishes lack quality. Bartenders throughout the ship are not super skilled with making drinks, often times getting a completely different tasting drink from the same Bartender despite order ing the same drink more than once.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
4 of the ship hotubs were too small for anythin more than 1 adult to fit comfortably. The jets on the hotubs were not properly aimed or serviced (shoots a lot of water in peoples faces so they cant really enjoy the jets when turned on). Closing ALL bars and places for guests to mingle before 1am is a serious buzz kill.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Rolling Stone Band needed work, also, closing down the venue after the show ends (around 11PM) kills any energy and momentum for a fun evening, no jukebox music after the show ends, the SHIP literally goes to bed before midnight... Closing ALL bars and places for guests to mingle before 1am is a serious buzz kill.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Staff tired really hard to please the guest and I can always appreciate that.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship is showing its age and needs a retrofit and major upgrades.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Huge Cabin, well maintained, sink water issue with COLD/HOT water wasnt really resolved after I told by floor steward about it.

Ship tip

If you want a ship that DOESNT seem to have a bedtime dont choose Holland American, seems geared towards an older more senior crowd.

Alaska is a getaway from the madness cruise . And yes us older people go to bed early and get up early.

I agree the Eurodam is suited more for seniors. Had my 73rd BD on her to Alaska in 2023 and would say the average was 55ish. Thanks for the review.
