A Much Needed Cruise by HelenL3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my second trip on the Enchantment in two years, and I never get tired of it. The ship is beautifully maintained and kept spotless. The crew onboard is one of the friendliest that we have encountered. There were a large numer of first time cruisers who took advantage of a 4 day cruise to get their feet wet. We enjoyed giving advice and answering questions. Too bad other veteran cruisers weren't so friendly. I find that people become jaded after taking so many cruises, but to me it's still the first time. We are already booked again for next year on the Enchantment.

Terrible Cruise by TravelerF4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Initially paid for a stateroom in front of the ship with a large window for oceanview. I checked into the room just prior to the ship leaving the port. As the ship departed the port I heard the ship engines start up and continued to rumble extremely loud. I was laying on the bed and it started to shake as if an earthquake was in progress. I immediately ran out into the hallway to ask the porter what was going on and he told me that the ship was just leaving port. I informed him of the bed shaking and the loud rumbling noise in my room # 3504. (Do not pick this room or any room in the vicinity.) The porter informed me that this was usual and that the noise would stop after we reached the open seas. I learned that anytime the ship excelled, I would experience the same rumbling noise and bed shaking. I asked guest services to move me to a different room and they compiled however the new room was a lower class then originally booked and did not have a window but was close to the middle of the ship. The new room was good and I did not hear the ship's engines roaring any more however whenever the ship turned, I felt the movement in my new room and all over the ship. This was my third time taking a cruise and my first time on a Royal Caribbean ship. Now I understand why people say they got seasick on a cruise ship. The ship was unstable in majority of the common areas, eg, in the casino, daily dining area, my stateroom, on the pool deck, etc. I could not sit by the window in the main dining areas without feeling dizzy. Another problem is the fact that soda & water are not included in the cost of your cruise. The water dispensed from the so-called filtered water machine in the main dining room gave me diarrhea every day on the ship until I figured out what was the culpit and stopped drinking it. In addition, I discovered that any food products made with the water also gave me diarrhea. example the pancakes, the orange juice drink, etc. I stopped eating these things and the diarrhea went away. I do not recommend this ship or this entire cruise line as I have used Carnival for two different trips and did not experience any of the above.

Great Cruise by LizJ2

Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Love the ship. Great services!!! Need better way of order to get off the ship for the shore adventures, we were late to each adventure because the ship didn't have it set-up better to get off to go to them. other than that it was great.

A Wonderful Cruise by LauraF5

Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise ever and we loved it. My husband though he would get sea sick but he didn't. We enjoyed all the activities, clubs, foods, and shows. Everbody was so wonderful and helpful. We had our rooms cleaned twice a day. The waiters were excellent in the restaurant. We are definitely going on another cruise again.

The best cruise yet! by HankR1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This ship was extremely clean. The crew were always very helpful and the food and shows top notch. Pool area always had something going on, so even if you just wanted to relax, you could kick back and watch the entertainment or listen to the band. Weather was beautiluful, water was the bluest you could ever imagine.

Not a good match for me by MicheleF4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

How does one find out about the ship and the "theme" before choosing a cruise? This was my first time and I didn't know what to expect, but also didn't know how to choose the cruise that would suit me. While people of a certain size constantly eating seemed to be the theme, I would have loved to find out more about the bodies of water we were in, the sites & peoples we visited and how they work and live. I bet, with such a beautiful ship, you could do better by assuming the people cruising want to know more about the world beyond the USA. At least I did.

Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had been on the Enchantment before and it continues to be a quality ship. Everyone on the staff that my daughter and I encountered were friendly and helpful. And Chops was absolutely marvelous. We ate there as often as possible. Our room with a balcony was lovely and well maintained. It was all positive for the two of us.

Wonderful value for money cruise by PollyP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Excelent value for money, good efficient staff, the Windjammer food was excellent, good choices from around the world. Main dining was good, staff friendly and tried very hard to make it a good experience. Room was small but functual, no fridge which we missed in the heat !!! but ice bucket filled twice a day. Very good exiting at port, little queueing. All round very good cruise.

The wworst Cruise ever by JamesM41

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

When we checked in, our person in Lauderdale was rude. Our room assignments were mixed up for the six of us. His attitude was that it was our problem - not his. Being diamond we went to the concierge to book reservations in the gorme diningroom. Eventhough I was the first person at his desk when he opened at 5:00pm he told us the dining room was booked for the entire trip. We were wait listed. The last night we finally got to eat there and the dining room was full of the ship's officers, and we met one man who said he ate there every night. I paid for six pasengers on this cruise and don't feel I was treated fairly in this matter. It was after 7PM when my luggage was finally delivered to the deck below mine. It had been searched and a bottle of very expensive single malt scotch was confiscated. I was told that this is now company policy. (I assume the late luggage was my punishment) I never got the scotch back. This must be a new policy because I've always brought my own scotch on board and this has never happened before. (We sailed RCL out of LA in January and it didn't happen.) Disembarkation in Jamaica was a nightmare. It took close to two hours. People missed tours they had paid for. We sat on a bus for an hour and a half waiting for my daughter, son-in-law and grand daughters. Boarding in Grand Cayman was a worse nightmare. Stateroom problems. The first night our closet door kept banging because the door fastener wouldn't work. It took three calls the next day to get someone to fix the door. The passenger service person I spoke with at the front desk did not have an adequate command of the english language and I am sure he didn't understand me. Room service for breakfaqst was late by 30 minutes. The workout room was generally overcrowded The hot tubs were overcrowded most of the time. The people in the casino were polite and competent as were our waiter, assistant waiter and head waiter in the main dining room. The food was adequate to good. Our cabin steward did a good job. I would hope that this review might be read by RCL policy makers, but I am afraid they will be to busy with important corporate decisions. I am sure this ship will be able to trade off the good reputation of RCL for years to come.

Heaven on the Seas by KarenD13

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Enchantment of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

After waiting for 30+ years to take a cruise, I was afraid my expectations would be too high. They weren't high enough. The staff and service made me feel relaxed, welcome and did everything to make my days memoriable. There was food for all tastes and restuarants for all styles. Loved the shows, comedians, and singers. Drinks were always easy to find. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The Enchantment of the Seas made it hard to leave, I just wanted to stay on board and keep that great feeling for a little bit longer. After hearing other people complain about the size of the bathrooms on cruise ships I was expecting a tiny hole. Not so, the bathroom had plenty of counter space, a nice shower, and storage above the sink. My daughter and I felt comfortable with space and storage. The only thing I didn't like and would do differently next trip is the early wake up calls for off ship excursions. I could have used the extra hour in the morning and not felt so rushed. I am already looking at booking my next cruise with Royal Caribbean!
