Exceeded expectations by donsilvermanlv

Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

We were wary about a ship with 3,500 passengers, but Princess did a very good job handling the numbers.  In addition, we have done 35 cruises, and the food in the regular dining room was the best we have ever had on a cruise ship.  Overall, the ship is very good.

J&S Review by JSCACruisers

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

The Crown Princess is a fine ship on which we have sailed previously.  Staff, in general, is very accommodating.  What really makes a cruise noteworthy is the staff and how they interact with all of, the customers.  Some are great and some are just doing their jobs.

Before we book a cruise, we research it thoroughly and then contact JB to take caries of us which he does.

Good staff before sailing and good ship's staff are what we expect and usually get.

Mexican Riviera cruise by brettskiy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

Overall enjoyed it, ship was a little dated, activities were limited outside thought there would be more to do. Didn't like the fact that most restaurants had a cover charge. The food was really good except for the Italian restaurant. Internet use was expensive should be free. Good entertainment in the evening especially mariachi band very good.

Just about perfect! by nosehair351

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

easy embarcatation onto ship, way too many activities onboard to try, did the "early dining" very nice! Loved the cities, especially cabo San Lucas ( the last stop, but the nicest town  of the three, my own opinion...we got the "unlimited drink" package ( beer/wine/mixed drinks up to $10 each) it worked out really good for us...I pounded down 6 to 8  brewskis daily , with coffee and soda in the morning; the Mrs. Did the capa coffee drinks, and Merlot in the pm...even @ around  $700 for both of us for the week , that only means $70 daily for two people...sounds crazy, but with a glass of vino @ 8 and a beer at 6 bucks...a very good deal ...it ( the package) also prepays the tips for all those drinks. If you are not an "imbiber" this info would not mean anything to you, but a lot of folks like to cut loose on the ship!  The only minor irritations for me was the fact that you had to go up to the "drive inn movie screen"  by the pools to see the NFL games, one night it was very windy, and I would rather have watched it in my room...but I know that it how they make their cash on drinks... (No worries, I had the drink package!)  loved the spa, but it IS very pricey! Felt like the "spa" package (all 7 Days admission into the steam room ) for an extra 50 per person ) wasn't that great of a deal. (Only did the sauna/steam room twice during the week...might be a real good deal if you hit the spa every day. Did not do any of the "specialized dining" but if you are a foodie that option is their for you...I was GREAT with the early regular dining...still had the lobster, and snails ( don't know how to spell Es car go !) cruising is our favorite vacation by far...not everybody likes not being in "control" ...but for me...hey! There is a 70's music trivia contest in the club fusion bar in 15 minutes!  The wife signed us up for a 5k...Let's go! Getting of of the ship was much better than Carnival in Alaska a few years ago...Thanks princess for a great Vaca!

,

Review of Crown Princess Trip to Mexican Riviera by pooracruisin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

I thought it was a great trip.  Service was great.  Cabin was great.  The entertainment was outstanding!  I loved the ship.  I'm not big on buffets as I usually eat in the dining room.  However if you are a buffet person, this one sucks.  Try another ship.  Poor quality, poor variety, and layout will not handle congestion.

Thanksgiving Cruise by ktalbott

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

We had a wonderful time.  Crown Grill is fantastic well worth the extra charge.  Photographers were very good and took time to make sure they did a good job on the photos.  Shows were also very good.

First day and last day service in the Horizon was not good  Staff was not friendly. During the middle of the Cruise they were good.   Need more time in Cabo

Put on my flip flops and relaxed on this cruise by FernieGo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

This Mexican Riviera Cruise on the Crown Princess could not have come at a better time.  Just before the holiday madness began, my partner and I stepped onboard, put on our flip flops and experienced a week of sun, spa and service!  We booked a great balcony room, smiling Joseph serviced it beautifully daily.  We signed up for the Couples Thermal Spa week where Trina, Ricardo, Kerreane and the rest greeted us each day with warm robes and welcoming hellos. We ate late in DaVinci (I think) with Felix and the crumber kid Sigfried; or Jayson all great service and Smiley greeted us but her name wasn't smiley, but that's what they call her.  Crown Grill is a must!  Egope is an amazing photographer as she captured on film the playful spirit we felt throughout the week and does it with a great sense of humor!  Overall - fun, fun, fun and relaxing trip!

Overall good cruise, room was great and bed was very comfortable.  Food was good overall, but dinner selections seemed repetitious.  The buffet was good but we only ate there a couple of times.

Simply Mediocre by teamsamm

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

This was our 2nd Princess cruise to the Mexican Riviera, a destination we had not visited for more than two decades. Registration at Pier 93 went well and we were excited for a week of pampering. The ship we found to be mediocre in much need of refurbishing as much of the outdoor wood showed it's wear of 9 years, toilets were requiring repair, elevators did not always move once the doors closed, and the buffets areas were small and got crowded quickly. The food, just like on the Regal Princess last February, was nothing better than mediocre. We found the food at the buffets was a bit tastier than that in the dining room. My husband bought hot sauce at our first port to add to the food to make it somewhat enjoyable. The crew was quite professional and constantly greeting each passenger with a smile. However, their personality, for the most part, was mediocre by focusing on their job rather than keeping the passengers smiling. Following this cruise, we decided for our future cruising we would return to Royal Caribbean where their ships are beautiful and well-kept, food is tasty, and the crew has a fun personality.

Not the same princess by sherbrd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

We have cruised with princess for quite a few years as well as it's sister carnival. Princess has dropped from a first to a second class experience. Seem like I was living an infomercial.

Onboard activities included sewing, crocheting, karaoke, line dancing, shopping classes, misc seminars, etc

Movies under the stars included a half cup popcorn of you are lucky, and forget about the traditional cookies.

Housekeeper was the worst we had at sea. Went a day without cleaning the room but it was freshened before bedtime.

Dinner tasted great but took about an hour and a half for service to be completed, and breakfast left a lot to be desired. The cruise directors were little boring and pretentious. Even me being a fan of the princess cruise lines I will have to cruise with another line next year.

No Fly Exotic Cruise by bobe2013

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South Pacific

The big benefit of this cruise is that there are no long flights involved. You get to visit Hawaii, Samoa and French Polynesia,

The cruise itself was very good because we were very lucky with the weather and the sea was mostly calm.  The 8 sea day run from Tahiti to Los Angeles became boring. There was plenty to do on the ship, and our cabin on deck 8 was comfortable and mostly smooth even though the Pacific did get rougher. The ship is showing its age.

Fabulous vacation by Cruiser354

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: South Pacific

This was truly the trip of a lifetime.  We loved the Crown Princess, the room was extremely comfortable, very clean, large closet, great bed and comfortable deck chairs.  The ship was beautiful, the entertainment top notch, so much so that we attended the show all 28 nights.  The food was superb and the staff was very efficient and friendly.  We can't wait to book our next Princess cruise and this was our 12th cruise but only the 2nd on Princess.

relaxing and enjoyable by schippy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

Very enjoyable and relaxing cruise.  Staff extremely polite, pleasant and friendly. Would cruise this ship again. Only a few problems.  First, the Alcatraz Tour, could have used an extra hour or more on the island.  Second, because of weather in Santa Barbara, of course we can not control,  for the trolley tour we waited over and hour on the street because of delay.  No cruise ship staff to give any directions.

Coastal California Cruise by Bruin76

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

Easy, fun trip going to some of our favorite California cities for a day at a time, without the driving, packing and unpacking....and in our case, no need to flight across country a day in advance, saving time, money and a hotel room.  These advantages were capitalized upon by a number of physically challenged passengers. There was tendering at Santa Barbara, but otherwise, we were parked at piers walking distance to the cities.  We went to 4 shows which were all very good, two of which were musical reviews, one was magic and the fourth was a telepathic magic show of sorts.  The two magic(esque) shows were incredible.  The Princess staff was all very polite and attentive, especially our cabin steward.  Food was Princess food.  A new specialty 'event' is a Crab Fest dinner, which was quite the change....very different and generally offered only once per week.  Demand caused them to offer a second night, that we happily attended.  I would definitely do this again.

The good, the bad and the ugly by scopehed

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: Mexico

Overall a good cruise with a nice ship and friendly staff.  The food was very good although I did get sick from eating some warm shrimp salad at the lunch buffet.  They don't keep the salads on ice or a cooler so beware.  The shows were very good to great.  The mentalist was amazing!  The ports were excellent except that Loreto was scorching hot.  Near the end of the cruise however some of the smells walking around the ship were pretty disgusting.  So be prepared to hold your breath at times while walking around.

Blast of Lifetime by karenknutson10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Crown Princess / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

This being a first cruise for us both, we wanted to experience it all!  Although we couldn't do everything within our time frame we sure had a good time trying - there was so much to do!  We started off on the top outside deck with a delicious drink from the bar, it was a gorgeous warm September day and quite a few people were enjoying the pool, almost wished I'd brought my bathing suit!  Everyone was so friendly and happy.  The Crown Princess is a beautiful ship with all it's grandeur, it reminded us of The Titanic. The staff was very helpful and courteous in showing us to our room or answering any questions we might have.  Our dinner in the Da Vinci  Room was excellent, we ordered a nice bottle of wine as we were celebrating my daughter's 26th Birthday.  We then saw a comedy show, toured the ship and hit the various clubs.  It was so much more fun than either one of us had ever imagined!!!  My only regret is that I didn't make it to the casino or order room service on board.
