Best spa on the seas by lasatterly1955

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Transatlantic

The Costa Deliziosa has the best spa of any cruise ship we have been on.  The cost for the 10 day cruise was only $114 person if you booked it pre-cruise.  When we got onboard they made us a better offer -- $170 for the 10 day use of the spa with a treatment included, I chose the facial, my husband the 60 minute massage.  The treatments were so good we had several other while on ship.  Another offer was a "Relaxing Night" it included a full body exfoliation, body & hair mask, body and hair moisturizer, a tea room experience and they gave a gift of a jar of scrub and pad.  All this for $39 and on top of that, if you booked a treatment they took the $39 off of the treatment fee.  The relaxing night lasted 2 hours and was terrific.

The rest of the cruise was good, as you would expect of a newer ship.

Worst Vacation Ever a nightmare - We want our 10 Days Back! No Magic Here by skrblik

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean

We are speechless on how awful this trip was. We had traveled with Costa in the past, that experience was amazing like a dream. This was the worst we have ever experienced. The cruise line in the past was like being on a dream vacation. Now not at all. You must pay for everything of any quality, the food was without a doubt the most inedible and disgusting foods ever. I overheard many other guests make similar comments. I even spoke with many crew members who said they would no longer work with them after their current contract expired. We had a running joke each night, we would order several things from each course hoping we would at least get something edible, or even get it at all, The waiter we had for the first night was the worst possible waiter. He even insulted me personally. They even charge for ice cream now, how sad. Breakfast each morning was exactly the same, no change - no special foods. Lunch and dinner buffet was almost exactly the same each day, little change.I can't say enough about how miserable the trip turned out to be, I was at the hospitality desk each night. I cried everyday about how miserable we were. If we could have gotten off and stopped the trip, we would have. I even spoke to the hotel director, who in my opinion barely listened and when he did gave many empty excuses as to why things were the way they were. The food,, service, amenities, and entertainment were awful. This line went from luxury to 8 Days Inn. My opinion, and the opinion of a few other guests we spoke with is this was all due to the company trying to recoup their losses from the Concordia disaster. The majority of the crew below management barely smiles and seemed very unhappy to be there unlike past cruises we have experienced.

It's like finding out there is no Santa Claus any longer, we are devastated over this trip. For the first time I could not wait to leave and get back home. We have never had this kind of experience in the past and traveled many times on several other lines. We used to hold Costa with the highest regard, and truly felt until now they were a true luxury cruise line. We have traveled with , Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Carnival. A total refund for this trip would be in order, we have never been so unhappy and miserable in our lives.

I have attached 3 photos of food - they speak for themselves.

costa deliziosa by marytierney51

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean

I think the customer service could be improved. I had a whole bag of cosmetics  disappear and no one I talked to cared a bit. The ship was very nice and the crew worked hard to keep it that way. I didn't feel that the food was the best. Some things seemed undercooked like the bacon and the ribs.

Disappointed by Nicolino

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean

Expected much better from an Italian Cruise Line.

Not able to choose our restaurant seating time, we were assigned second seating and were not allowed to change it, the food was mediocre, the daily menu listed better selections at a surcharge, the Gala night menu (ship 7th birthday) listed a rock lobster as an alternate selection for an additional $ 25.00/person.

Fresh cooked hamburgers and soda fountains at the buffet restaurant were offered for an extra charge.

Cruising with Costa quiet remarkable experience. by AshleyFrancis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean

This was our very first time taking a cruise and I gifted it to my wife as a Second Honeymoon,& invited another elderly couple to join us,which they did.

The welcoming committee was warm and friendly and taking our first snap at the wheel was memorial. The cabin was spacious and welcoming but most of all was the human face of Costa in our cabin attendant namely "Bayu Sahid. He was kind & hard working & we gifted him.//On the flip side we were fed the same menu for 10days with no salt or any variety, pasta, macoroni etc. No German,Chinese or Indian food at all.B'fast eggs were tasteless.Chefs had no idea of using sauces & light spices or even soy sauce.//Entertainment was great & lots of activities. On our last night we attended the theatre and our friends wife decided to go to the WC and trajedy struck as from the first step of the balcony she tripped on the first step and came tumbling down two flights of stairs. Each of the stairs had steel edges which broke her big toe and as she lay there,a Costa lady (White Uniform)came and asked if she should call the doctor and that would cost $180 initially. Our friend was in shock & so was her husband, while I held her head off the floor waiting for someone from Costa to assist her with a wheelchair.I hear that Costa may be liable for damages as no attempt to assist the dazzed passenger, but most of all,NO Medical or accident report on this passenger was ever made, while crowds gathered around. She had a black eye, head and rib laserations from the steel edges(no carpeting)

Finally, a wheelchair was brought & we wheeled the patient to her cabin in great pain.No Costa personnel followed up to her cabin to see if any further assistance could be offered....very poor response.

We are waiting a response from Costa on the matter. Ashley Francis

Costa - an Italian/European cruise on this side of the pond by FussyTraveler

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean

Booking a Suite on the Costa Deliziosa made for a truly "delicious" cruise!

Suite passengers enjoy lovely private dining room for three meals a day - superb food and service. Also - we were celebrating our anniversary and Costa is the only line I know that loves couples who are honeymooning or celebrating anniversaries and always makes a fuss over them (on all their ships) with a special cocktail party!

Fewer  Americans on board - so we got to practice our Italian, French, German and a bit of Portuguese - all without paying for a trip across the "pond".

As suite passengers we enjoyed the services of a butler and Amit (our personal butler) went the extra mile - making sure we had everything we needed including the fruits we enjoyed most delivered to the cabin daily. Boarding and disembarking were smooth and easy. Also love the 11PM boarding time, allowing us to arrive on the same day by plane.

An Italian Cruise by csimpson1950

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean

Would only recommend this cruise if English is your second language.  This cruise was 90-95% foreign travelers. All announcements were in Italian first, followed by English, French, and German.  Entertainment was in Italian and then translated in the different languages. (loses something in the translation)

Be ready to pay additional charges for most "usual" things offered on cruise ships: coffee and tea other than meal times, steak or lobster at dinner, ice cream, pizza, etc.....

Cabins are nice and clean, however, no turn down service at night.

Very little variety of food. Our dinner servers were great and efficient.  Sit down service at  breakfast and lunch was slow. Self serve breakfast and lunch was the same thing everyday.

We enjoyed the ports of call.  We had a change in the itinerary due to rough seas, instead of Amber Cove we stopped in La Romana.  Had a great time being spontaneous after we docked at 7 PM in La Romana and shared a cab with others on the ship.

We were able to disembark earlier and quickly went through customs.

Poor customer service by SalJimenez1948

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean

Good entertainment. We were part of over 20 pasasengers that missed the ship in FLL and were made to wait for 3 hours to board in Nassau. Restaurant service excrusiatingly slow, 2 hours for dinner and one and a half for lunch. Monotonous menu in the buffet line. Coffee was only available a few hours a day, unless you paid for it. On this Italian ship you had to pay extra to get a pizza, to get balls to play ping pong, and get balls to play pool. In short they nickel dime you all the time.

Good Ship but.... by jeromelahlou

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean

The ship was great but the food was limited. The service was not good.

Staff health precautions were not followed.

We saw some cooks sneezing in their hands and they continued to handle food without washing their hands. This has happened in more than 3 or 4 occasions.

Many people were sick on board. We got sick as well.

Thank you2

A true European experience in America! Never Again! by andrew11792485

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean

The only enjoyable thing on this cruise was the getting off the ship, going to the ports of call. We departed from Ft. Lauderdale. I learned this was a repositioned ship, so a lot of the guests were already on the boat from Europe. This cruise line missed a lot when it came to America. The service was terrible, we skipped most of nightly dinners because the waiter didnt have a clue. He served all our meals at different times, we would receive soup at the end of the meal or salads. He would get angry if he got something wrong and we questioned it. He gave the wrong meals to different people. Might I add, everything was done electronically, he used a smart phone provided by the cruise to take the order, so I dont see much room for messing up. There was no music or dancing at dinner like on other cruises. Usually you become best friends with the waiter by the end of your cruise and you want to shower them with tips, not this time! It took the full two hours to get all the food, not because there was lots of it but because it was so slow. The food was European, and only available at certain times. The portions in the dining room were terrible. You left more hungry than you came. There was no 24 hr pizza or sandwich bar or even an soft serve machine on the boat. There was only one night show and the "animations" team did stuff around the ship. Other cruise lines I have been on have comedy and multiple shows to attend. You had to pay for EVERYTHING! Being from USA, we received free water, how nice of Costa! You paid daily for your room to be clean (12.50) we had 5 in our party. One of our rooms had bed bugs or something that bit one of our guests, she had huge welts on her arm and body. She killed the bug (we think a spider). When we spoke to hospitality, they said, "We will see if this person can see the on board doctor, and we will determine if you will have to pay for the visit." I kid you not! The cruise line did take responsibility and gutted the room, put new carpet and bedding, the steward attending the room was angry we had made the complaint. They did not have iron's on the ship so if you wanted or needed to iron your clothes which were crammed in suit cases, you had to pay $3.00 an item. Room service was an additional $5. The attitude of the employees on the ship seemed as though you were doing them a favor by being there. Costa missed this one when it came to service, other cruise lines do a much better job. They weren't helpful or nice. I'm a pretty patient person, I travel all around the world but when I feel that I am being taken advantage of it frustrates me.

If you looking for a ship all inclusive, don't take Costa. by m73607898

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean

After dinner you don't have anything to drink or eat free, they charge you for everything, besides at dinner time you get free water but only if you are USA citizen, the rest of the world they must pay for water, unbelievable!!!

Midnight hungry? have you board card available to pay for a slices of pizza, coffee or ice cream.

Breakfast and lunch try to be in time otherwise everything are gone.

Costa need a lot of service improvement to compete with the other ship lines here in the Caribbean, for Europe perhaps works but not here.

Family fun cruise over Christmas break, 2016 by npatel1118

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We just came back after celebrating Christmas as well as my husband's 50th birthday on the Costa Deliziosa. Although we have cruised several times previously, this was the first time with Costa. The things that impressed me the most was the cabin size, that was impressive, as well as the cleanliness of the entire ship, and especially my cabin. The entertainment was top notch and we were a group of 11, all of us enjoyed that part. The part we were thoroughly disappointed in was the food. A majority of us were vegetarian and we had very limited veg choices. Lunch wasn't too bad but dinner was quite awful, the food was often uncooked and everyone on the table got served at different times so it was a bit awkward. There was also very limited complimentary coffee, and it was only available certain times of the day. The breakfast was identical every single day. We expected the pizza to be the best since it was an Italian cruise liner, but that, too was disappointing. Overall a good cruise, great itinerary but we didn't gain the customary cruise pounds...which I guess is a blessing, but we feel a bit short changed!

Not a good experience for Costa by redgold

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Transatlantic

Having taken close to 100 cruises on over 20plus ships I can honestly say the ship is lovely and the rest of the cruise is not good. From food to service. If you are not from the USA be prepared to pay for your water at dinner.. (What a shame). 75 cents Euro for one glass of water... I think you get the idea.  If you would like steak for dinner be prepared to pay extra, ice cream for desert  pay extra, everything is extra ..... Sorry it was not not a good experience  but one good thing the water for the cruise (24days) was smooth. Thanks Captain.

Costa is very deliziosa by lulilopez99

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

I have to say we had a wonderful time on the Deliziosa.  The staff was very helpful, pleasurable, and overall understanding. We definitely recommend this this cruise to anyone.

The only downside is refreshments. I believe that your customers would pay a little extra in the cruise package to have this simple but necessary consumption. I have been on other cruises where this is part of your package and it just makes those traveling with families an easier stay.

Wonderful Experience by Bpitre3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

-Crew members all around were professional, always helpful, and delightful to speak with.

-Procedures for disembarking and re-embarking at various locations, as well as all other procedures (ex. Dining, passport control, baggage collection/return, general and daily announcements, etc.) went very well and smooth.

-Ship, including personal room, was very clean and excellently maintianed.

-Food was plentiful and superb.  Waiters: A+

-Only negative comment: It took a few hours to go through the initial boarding procedure starting from when we met the first clerk to when we were onboard.  In fact, the ship was late leaving the initial departure port.

7 day cruise from Venice by rspence8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Costa Deliziosa / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

I realize that never is a long time , but my wife and I plan on never taking a Costa cruise again. Had we been first time cruisers it would have been our last cruise, but this was our 14th cruise. We booked a Premium outside cabin and were assured by Costa that we would have an unobstructed view. I am not sure what Costa calls the forward deck, the railing and mast outside our window, but I would call it an obstruction.

It appears that this company has taken to charging for everything, We are accustom to free coffee , tea, juice and water anytime on other cruise lines. If you want any of these outside of breakfast you are charged. we are accustom to food being avalible almost any time. Not on Costa. If you miss the strictly enforced meal times ,you are out of luck.

I realize that this is an Italian line, but the passangers were multinational. Many of the announcements were in italian only, which left the english speaking, German speaking and non Italians in the dark.

This was not our first Costa cruise as we had been on a previous cruise in the Caribbean about eight years ago which was fun. With the change in the lines attitude for charging for everything, it will  be our last .

I would urge anyone thinking of a Costa cruise to reconsider
