Good ship, great views by iamfabi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

We struggled at first because Princess would not give us room assignments but once we insisted, we liked where we were and felt better knowing where we would be. The staff was not as friendly as we had ons previous Carnival cruise. They were nice enough but not the outstanding friendliness we had experienced before. We did manage to find one lovely, cheerful waiter that we stuck with! There were two morning were loud ship repairs were being done and it woke is up around 7:30 or 8am. I hate being woken up when I can sleep in on vacation. The food was not as tasty as I had hoped either but I figured it must be hard to feed so many. We still loved our time on the ship and the Alaska sights were amazing. Mark the Naturalist was a favorite as he pointed out all the wonders we were seeing and taught us about bears and whales. Also was a pleasure to run into him on the ship. The magician and comedian shows were horrible but the dance shows were cute. We had a good time. Thanks for showing us Alaska Coral Princess!

July 29th Southbound Alaska Cruise by jcave921

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The food was okay. The sit down dinners were excellent. My wife is Gluten free and they did a great job making sure she was taken care of each night. The buffet for breakfast was okay, but I didn't like the lunches. The pizza place was very good and they also were great making my wife a gluten free pizza.

When we checked out I saw that we were charged for the bottles of water in our room fridge. We purchased the unlimited beverage and I didn't understand why we were charged. I was never notified that we would be charged for them. There was nothing in the room stating that and also no tag on them staying this. When I went to the front desk to question this they wouldn't take them off the bill and didn't seem to care. I was very unhappy about this. Also I just spent over $6,000 on this cruise and they couldn't take this small charge off the bill and this was my last memory of the cruise which wasn't very good.

Great going Northbound/food bland by swentzel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary on this cruise.  It was really great!  I would recommend anyone going on this cruise to go Northbound  instead of Southbound.  The more North we went the more beautiful the scenery.  I would have been disappointed to start out so pretty ending up not as beautiful.  We have not been on a cruise in 10 years and feel like Princess nickeled and dimed us a lot.  Maybe that is the norm on cruises now a days.  Upgrade for dining in separate settings, upgrade for soft drinks, upgrade for coffee, upgrade for alcohol.  The only thing I was disappointed in was the food.  It was very bland unless we dined at the the specialty dining rooms for an up-charge. We spoke to several other guests and they felt the same way.   Other than that the boat was beautiful, room was great and so was our balcony.  The shows were good and staff was very friendly.  Great thing about bland food, I didn't gain a pound while we were away.  Happy

Not The Best by tbemail

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

After 10 Princess cruises, I will say that the previous 9 were outstanding. This one? Not so much. Perhaps it was just the smaller ship (2300 capacity), but the food, dining service and the cabin steward were all below the Princess standards. On the positive, the ship seemed clean and the shows were excellent.

Our cruise consultant at Cruises Only, Jonathan Kaden, was wonderful. Attentive, responsive and polite, we could not have asked for better coordination.

We had taken friends who have never cruised before with any line, and had touted Princess beforehand. Frankly we were a bit embarrassed to have done so.

Will we go on Princess again? I'm sure we will, but if the quality of our next cruise with them shows that the low standards set by the Coral Princess is now the norm, we will take our business elsewhere after that.

Coral Princess Northbound Inside Passage by abbyfprince

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This cruise was more than I could imagine.  Great pampering, comfortable ship, great shows, great visits.  Loved it.  Staff is amazing.  Formal night was dorky, but we surprised ourselves in how we got into it.  The Maitre d'hotel, waiters, stewards were are  excellent.  The ship puts out a newletter every day- printed ON BOARD, you can also get the events on your closed circuit wi-fi on your smart phone.  And text each other on board for free using the same system.  Plenty of room to sit outside, inside.  Learned about art - without buying anything,

wonderful cruise for summer by cycheng

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

the offered a fantastic deal for the Alaska cruise, in addition, the agent who booked our trip (Kimberley Jordan) was wonderful, she was so helpful in everyway and since this is our first cruise she really made it easy for me to get all the paper work done correctly.  I was very happy with their service.  we will definitely use again for our next cruise trip.

As to the Princess cruise itself, we couldn't be more happy with it, everything was top of the line, we really feel pampered on board and the sail was so smooth, we saw so many glaciers and wonderful places.  we have the cruise and land tour combined, the land portion was also wonderful, Princess lodges were top notch, transportation in between were very well run, we will go with Princess again.

Great ship. Avoid the Bayou Cafe. by MarkSa

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This was our first cruise on Princess and our first to Alaska. The check in process was the best we've ever had. The ship was beautiful, clean and not crowded.

We loved our room which was more spacious than expected. Our cabin steward was fabulous.

The band "Opus" was great to dance and we followed them to every venue.

The Bayou Cafe was good at the lunch steam pot but we were warned by other passengers that they had really bad service for dinner there and took 2 hours to get their food. We figured it was an isolated incident. We were wrong. We arrived for our dinner reservation and our waiter continually ignored us to take care of tables that ordered wine and other extras. I tried repeatedly to get his attention to get refilled drinks and take our order. He finally brought an appetizer but it was terrible. After multiple attempts to get the waiter's attention I went to the Bayou maitre'd who said to just skip the appetizr and move on to the next course. He was unwilling to replace it and instead kept trying to redirect us. At the 1 hour mark without drink refills or food delivery I tried the Bayou maitre'd again. He just said food would be out soon. When we hit the 1 1/2 hour mark I went to the front desk to find a solution. When you pay extra for a meal, you expect good service. It was horrible. I met with the Maitre'd supervisor who moved us to the Italian restaurant, gave us a wonderful bottle of wine and the Italian Restaurant Maitre'd took such extraordinary care of us that we were beyond impressed. The food was better than anything we have in Orlando. I would recommend the Italian Restaurant to anyone. The food was amazing and so was the service.

We also had a problem with the safe in our cabin not working. It took several days and elevating the notification to the front desk to get it resolved.

The cruise was otherwise fabulous. The naturalist was impressive. The glaciers were amazing. The deck chairs were sooo comfortable. We look forward to using Princess Cruises more frequently.

Coral Princess Voyage of the Glaciers Northbound by kfuricheryl

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The cruise was memorable and the natural beauty of Alaska is magnificent.  It's been on our list for many years and we finally manage to escape and enjoy this wonderful trip.   One of the things we did not like was to have arrived in Whittier after midnight.  We basically spent the night while docked.  Maybe Princess can rearrange cruise so that we could be sailing during the night and arrive early in the morning in Whittier.

great cruise by dougcorum

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

enjoyed the mix of days at sea, so relaxing, and the days on shore with options for activities.  We were in group with two other couples. The crew was excellent!  Our waiter, Arren and the assistant waiter, D.J. were so very professional plus fun and personable.  Our housekeeper, Jerry, was also excellent, very proficient and friendly!.  Our only disappointment was not being able to use our specialty dinner credit of $50 per person.  Our notice stated the time was chosen based on our dinner preference.  We requested the early dinner, 5:15pm every night but the specialty dinner was set at 8:30pm.  We went to both places and spoke    with each head waiter who informed us there were no openings earlier on any night. We noticed several empty tables in both restaurants each night.   I  don't doubt that there were full reservations but many must have not shown up.  Loved the glaciers and appreciated the commentary on the intercom.  Loved the magician and the impersonator.  Thank you. (also wish there was coffee available any time on aft part of ship without using room service. )

Food, service and views of the glacier are all excellent by alaskaml

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This is my first cruise with Princess.  The food on board was surprisingly good.  Both buffet and dinning room food are great.  When we were at the Glacial Bay, the ship rotate 360 degree so everyone from any location on deck can see the beautiful view.  Over all it was a very good experience.

North To Alaska by broach55

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Took the Coral Princess from Vancouver to Anchorage and then a land tour to Denali National Park.

There were too many days at sea. The first was after leaving Vancouver. The schedule showed two days cruseing Glacier Bay. The first day we only saw Glaciers at mid morning and the second day at 6 in the afternoon. I was under the impression we would be floating by Glaciers all day.

We went with a group of friends up to Denali. If I had reviewed the itinery, I would have backed out. The first day was consumed by a 10 hour train ride. The third day a 3 hour bus ride and the fourth day another 3 hour bus ride back to Anchorage. Oh, at Mt McKinley Lodge, there is a one hour ride into town since there is nothing around the Lodge.

I did see two glaciers, a moose, a bear, 6 eagles, and two caribou. There were two many cruising - riding hours to justify not seeing more animals or glaciers.

Accommodations by gram081941

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Cruise itself was good but the accommodations did not live up to the quality we expect from Princess Cruise Line.  The wall coverings, carpet, hallways and the furniture left something to be desired.  The couch in the suit was worn and the arms were dirty.  We had anytime dining and found the service left much to be desired.  We were seated and then forgotten two different times.

Panama Canal Not what we expected! by maryesullivan46

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

When I think of Carribbean islands and Panama, I think of tropical jungles, thick and green. Our first stop in Aruba wasn't what we expected! It was very desert-like, cactus and all. That started the change of expectations for all the ports: They were not what we expected, but even better since they were different from expectations! The Panama Canal transition was great! I got up early to make sure I didn't miss a moment. With a balcony, we were in the "cat-birds seat." We may have to go again just to see what else we didn't expect to see!

Visiting the 8th Wonder of the World!! by wildgoose42

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

IEnjoyed all facets of the cruise. Food was excellent, too much of course! Entertainment was excellent as well!  The canal experience was unbelievable as we were so fortunate to be portside and witness the large container vessel come through at same time as our vessel and we could first hand witness and video all levels of the canal and then come back to the canal through a tour and witness the Princess come through the canal.  To be able to see the newly created canal was again hard to believe.

The other ports and excursions were not as good although we did enjoy the jeep ride in Aruba.

Only criticism is Princess tactics of trying to raise revenue in everything you do! They should be truthful to cruisers giving them a range of the real cost of a cruise.

Aside from Disney and cruise on Carnival I haven't experience on other boats!

I'll definitely go on another Princess or another cruise.

Princess Panama Cruise by pjdeets

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Coral Princess / Destination: Panama Canal, Central America

We sailed on the Coral Sea out of Fort Lauderdale.  Cruise was pleasant with out incident.  Dinner food could have been better, especially beef dishes which were somewhat bland.  Entertainment was good.  Service was good but marketing for  was over the top.  Everything cost enough, but then they tried to sell you something constantly.  Room was nice with good service.  I would recommend this criuise.
