Review summary

This cruise was more than I could imagine.  Great pampering, comfortable ship, great shows, great visits.  Loved it.  Staff is amazing.  Formal night was dorky, but we surprised ourselves in how we got into it.  The Maitre d'hotel, waiters, stewards were are  excellent.  The ship puts out a newletter every day- printed ON BOARD, you can also get the events on your closed circuit wi-fi on your smart phone.  And text each other on board for free using the same system.  Plenty of room to sit outside, inside.  Learned about art - without buying anything,

Staff very attentive, friendly

Ship Quality

Impecably clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

Very comfortable, loved the window. Shower is small, but we did not use it. We bought a spa for a couple membership for $199 per couple and the shower was luxurious there.

Ship tip

Take the time to talk to the people who serve you. They have interesting stories

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
go early, drop your bags off, and rent bikes to go biking in Stanley Park.

Ketchikan, Alaska

The stores further away from the port are cheaper. We saw the totem poles at Saxman, closer than the other park and more than adequit.

Juneau, Alaska

Tram is definetly overpriced, but you have to do it!

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Skagway shuts down early, get your shopping in before 6 pm, even though the ship leaves later. We did the train down (bus up) expensive, but again, gotta do it.

Cruise Glacier Bay

5 out of 5
Just take it all in. Go outside, watch the calving.

Cruise College Fjord, Alaska

5 out of 5
Just take it all in. Go outside, watch the calving.

Whittier (Anchorage), Alaska

5 out of 5
There is nothing to do in Whittier if you are waiting for an excursion. We did Phillips surprise glacier, leaves on 1 pm, we disembarked the latest possible for independents which was 9:45 am. Nothing really to buy either, so make sure your gifts are purchased before hand.

Sometimes connections can be a problem. Enough bandwidth to support all of the passengers though. Connection is easy once established. You will need to create an account with a username and password. Make sure that you stay on free Wi-Fi which provides you with ship information. Paid internet gets a bit pricey if you are actually paying for it. Platinum members and above get internet credit up to 150 minutes or more. That's the way to go. Wi-Fi is very slow in some instances. Do not expect a land-based Wi-Fi connection. Also do not forget, do not forget, do not forget to log out of your internet session. If you do not, the clock keeps ticking and you can lose all of your minutes. Remember to log out. Hope this helps.

What would you recommend if we go back again - we did a northbound Princess cruise.

Welcome to the world of cruising.  Thanks for posting your review here.  I enjoyed reading about your Alaska cruise.  I visited Alaska twice and enjoyed both visits.
