If you able to participate in the Valet Luggage program do so! We were so impressed in how it worked. We provided guest relations with our flight info and they provided us with our airline luggage tags and boarding passes and sent our luggage to the airport. Picked up luggage at home, NO cost.
We were opposed to the drink packages at first (super hard sell the first day), but ended up buying a soda package for our teen and a classic package to go along with the premium non-alcohol package I'd bought prior. We felt like we got our monies worth out of all of them, but really worked at it.
Take the Misty plane or glacier landing helicopter - if you have never done it, it's worth the money. Even my 4 teenagers were impressed. Eating in the main dining room is much more relaxing and less hectic than the buffet. The food is ok but the buffet can be a bit of a feeding frenzy.
Don't sail Aqua class! Try not to loose your mind through the boarding and disembarking process. Too many people on the boat for getting on and getting off.
Make sure you sign up for the tours, internet and beverage package of your choice prior to your cruise. When it's time to cruise everything is paid for!
Balcony views are great but the weather in Alaska is somewhat cool and wet so you may not get to spend as much time on the balcony as you wish. The balconies are great but are likely better suited for cruises further south.
Be prepared to spend more money on things like internet and drinks. Packages, packages, packages, it's exhausting to figure out what makes the most sense. Celebrity has become more like Carnival. Basically they just want you to spend as much money as possible. I think they had something like 3 absolutely positively last art auctions. Until they had the Encore absolutely last art auction.
Dont be frightened to ask for more than one selection when dining as they have a tendency to put the good meals on the same menu for example they have lobster and duck and beef wellington on the last chic night
I had two lobster and the duck both great
Get a drink package. My husband and I were just going to pay per drink, but after we embarked and talked to some of our cruise mates, we decided to get the premium package. SO GLAD we did. We saved a LOT of money. We thought the package only included alcohol, but it also included canned soda, juices, and bottled water (which we drank a lot of).
Get the concierge class if they don't charge you too much for it. The concierge herself wasn't much help, but the perks (heavy bathrobes, bottle of champagne, easy embarkation, special lunch the first day, etc.) were very nice.
