Review summary

We researched Alaska cruises and determined that we wanted an upscale cruise experience. Having cruised many other times on other carriers , we decided on Celebrity . We were not disappointed. Solstice is a very well appointed and clean ship. Our aft balcony suite was better than expected. The food on Solstice is way better than any other cruise ship we've been on. The ships staff was also very much better than on any other ship we've been on. Love this ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

The food in all of the ships dining areas is superb.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
found the onboard activites just soso.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The main shows in the ship theater was very good as were the guest entertainers, the lounge shows were just average.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
Did not see much in the form of childrens programs, But this ship is gear more for older adults

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone we had contact with was over and above what you would expect.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was a very clean and well appointed ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Follow the advice of your cruise booking agent when booking these, some have partially obstructed views from the balcony or big round window. The deck 12 aft cabins have a lot of noise from above (the ocean view café is over these) You get complementary binoculars with a sky suite but if you have your own , bring them because theirs are not good quality.

Ship tip

The aft sky suite we had was great . It is a long walk to the elevators, as there are no elevators aft. The beds on this ship are nothing short of phenomenal , even the fold out sofa bed was way better that most ships regular beds. For dining if you in a suite you have you own specialty restaurant .

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

This would have been great , lots to see and do but it took way to long to get luggage and rental car (over 4 hours) traffic in seattle is terrible.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
It was very scenic but excursion are pricey on ship, found them to be 20 to 30 dollars cheaper for same excursion off the ship.

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

5 out of 5
This was very scenic and as a suite guest got invited to view entry into fjord from the very front of the ship ( helipad) But is was cold and windy, did last long.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Great scenery and shopping right off the ship, again excursions are pricey.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
This was probably the best little port we visited, The town is very quaint and the train ride, while pricey and long, was very scenic.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
the scenery was magnificent, we had hoped to see more wildlife though.

Victoria, British Columbia
