Review summary

The Celebrity Solstice is a very elegant cruise ship. I loved that we could go onboard earlier as part of the Concierge Level and that it was a blue sunny day and warm in Seattle meant that since we carried on for ourselves bathing suits and didn't have to wait for the baggage, we enjoyed the deck almost all to ourselves to start off a terrific cruise.

We enjoyed three specialty restaurants, all great. Saw great Hot Glass shows, a Reidel wine glass tasting, Wine and Food pairing dinner for our Anniversary in the Tuscan Grille, and met wonderful passengers all along the way.

A day up and a day back with an evening in Victoria set the stage well for the more remote winderness. I even climbed a glacier! All in all, it was a terrific time. Miss Amanda was great who told us about our destinations (she was a riot), and Brett the naturalist who was great sighting and telling us what we were seeing in the Tracy Arm Fjord.

I have to also point out that the staff everywhere was attentive and smiling, always!

I want to thank also my travel agent for Aimee Kimbell which was the best travel agent ever and guided us with the best information to have a wonderful 20th Anniversary!

One thing that might have improved it, would be some better movies, ones that are more recent and in the theatre or maybe some oldies but goodies.

Thanks again,
Vivian (and Rich)

Elegant in Decor. Some serious artwork too.

Cabin / Stateroom

Enjoy this sunset room. Great views of the Tracy Arm Fjord and you can also hear the Naturalist's commentary while going through it which you can not if you are on the deck. Also in the back you avoid the wind! It was so comfortable to sit outside in regular clothes!

Ship tip

Go to the Hot Glass Show. Signed up for the Persian Room for the Week and the relaxation room, but it was relaxing everywhere and probably shouldn't have spent that money there. Reidel tasting well worth it if you are interested in wine and you take home the four different glasses.

Took a Kodiak to Tongass National Rainforest. It was a beautiful day. I did not need my heavy waterproof hiking boots, but be prepared for cold during the boat drive and hold onto your hat.

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska

It was really great and having a naturalist on the Tv in the room telling you what you are seeing is terrific, but with high tide and what they called brash the cruise ship could not get close to the glacier but take your binoculors (they have them in Concierege Level but not as good as what you migt have) to see the wildlife and glacier if you are far away.

Juneau, Alaska

We got so lucky with blue skies and could see forever in the helicopter and we hiked and climbed the glacier. It was considered strenuous but not if your are fit. It was an accomplishment however and a once in a lifetime. It is expensive but worth it!

Skagway, Alaska

Liked the train ride and enjoyed going back by bus as theytake a different route and stop at three places. Caribou Crossing was great to play with the three week old puppies!

I was thinking this was all the inside passage.

I'll be sailing the Solstice and I'll be in the Royal suite. How early can we board?
