Great Alaska Hubbard Glacier Cruise by culturecruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Alaska Cruise is a definite must do. Scenery is stunning. A highlight is the zip line in Icy Straight Point. The Red Dog Saloon is fun. I had sprained my ankle at the beginning of the trip so couldn't do the hike to Mendenhall Glacier but friends said it was excellent. Alaska Cruise should be on everyone's bucket list.

Thoroughly enjoyable by Luarina

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I loved it, as did my companions. I was a little concerned, prior to leaving for our holiday, having read some negative reviews. Yes, the ship is a little older than some but it is in good condition generally. All I can say is that I had a great holiday.

Great time great food and great weather. Awesome trip by moore99

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We had a great time. Wouldn't hesitate to go again. We had only one poor day of weather which is pretty good from what we have heard. All ports were good and unique.

Not up to Celebrity standards by Morall

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This ship was fine overall. But staff was not up to par. Entertainment the same as on another Celebrity we took earlier this year. Ship just well worn, like the other Celebrity ships of this class. Would not take again. Not much there. How much scenery can you look at. The glacier was incredible. Captain did his best to get us up close and personal.

Awesome Alaskan Adventure by Cruiser19513747

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

We would recommend this trip to anyone. We saw far more wildlife than we had expected. Since we hadn't really taken excursions on other cruises, we were very pleased with the ones we chose on this trip. The ship was clean and well-run.

Alaska never disappoints by kenannc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Alaska is always worth the trip. Even though we had crummy weather it was fun. So glad I packed rain boots and rain gear. The zip line is a must do. Bummed about hiking the glacier and dog sledding being cancelled. Upgrade to aqua class if you can. We prefer quieter dining and Blu was worth it.

Wonderful way to see coastal Alaskan cities! by Cruiser87996979

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

I read a number of reviews stating that the Millennium was dated and worn and that the staff, entertainment and food are not up to par. I must disagree on all counts! We were pleasantly surprised at how beautiful the ship was and the production shows were wonderful!

wonderful family cruise by lauriebenkohull

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The Alaskan cruise was wonderful.  We had a great time.  The ship was very nice and the workers were beyond professional and friendly.  We traveled with a large group and brought our 16 yr old son and 4 yr old daughter.  The Fun Factory was amazing.  Our daughter wanted to be there morning and night.  The workers (especially Seon) took great care of our daughter and made us feel very comfortable leaving her there for long periods of time.  The activities for teenagers were very nice and fun.

We gambled in the casino nightly.  The pit boss and all of the dealers we interacted with were extremely nice, professional and fun.

Our cabin was equipped to accommodate 4 of us comfortably.  Our room steward, Seywan, kept it very clean.  He was very nice and helpful.

The food on board was very delicious.  There was a large variety of food so we never got sick of it at all.  The Qsine dining experience was the best food on the ship.  Our waiter, I forget his name but he was from Turkey, was top notch.  Our wait staff in the Metropolitan dining room was great also.  Arun, our head waiter, and his assistant were very accommodating to our large group.  We looked forward to dinner every night.

We had a big group (30 people) that liked to drink and dance.  The bartenders were very nice.  We especially liked the Martini bar and the staff there (Abibi from Philipines and Adrian).  Marco, the bartender in the casino was awesome!  He took the time to know our names and what we liked to drink on the first day.  We had so much fun.

The only slight complaint I had was that there was really no place to dance and get kind of crazy.  The Cosmos did not play dancey music until very late (like 11:30 or 12:00).  I wish they would have had the silent dicso more than just 2 nights. It was so much fun and crowded.  Everyone loved it.  It was too short.  The cruise should do it at least 3 times on the cruise.  I was on another cruise that had a dueling piano bar that was really fun.

Alaska cruise Southbound on Millie... by twangster

Sail date: /
Ship: Celebrity Millennium

Alaska cruise Southbound on Millie in an S1 Skysuite. Great crew. First Celebrity cruise. June 2 - 9. Took the train from Anchorage to Seward. Incredible experience. Easy walk from the train to the ship. Celebrity took the luggage right at the Anchorage train station and trucked it down directly to the ship and the cabin. Luminae dining every day. Leo the sommelier in Luminae was top notch pairing wine with meals. Daily Alaskan crab platter on the pool deck. Hot tubs outside were just lukewarm, kind of there for show but in the Solarium they were perfect. Some shows were great and enjoyed the talk by Captain Dave from the crab boat Aleutian Ballad (Deadliest Catch) and Milos the naturalist. He talked a little too much while at the Hubbard Glacier, I was enjoying listening to the Glacier crack and calve but otherwise very informative. The captain got us very close to the Glacier. Some of the shows were not my thing but a lot of people seemed to enjoy them so that's just personal taste. We were lucky with pretty good weather by Alaskan standards. Cabin 6146 right near the stern. No issues with motion although a few folks did seem to be getting a little queasy on the open ocean dart towards the inside passage. Rough seas only for an hour or two. Had a few minor things like three light bulbs burned out in the cabin and a noisy fan but they were quickly addressed. Only tried the Oceanview Cafe buffet once or twice and it was okay. Not great but not poor either. Great martinis at the martini bar that features a cool frozen bar top. Great bar service everywhere. Cosmos bar got busy at times but no worse that any crowded club on land. Internet came bundled with the cruise and it was spotty at times and slow at other times. Satellite TV had limited channels due to location so only a handful of channels. Excursions included helicopter to the Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau, White Pass train in Skagway, whale watching in Icy Straight Point and Misty Fjord cruise in Ketchikan.

Stunnng Alaska! by Canadiangal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This cruise stops at all the major ports.  The Milenium is a good ship,  midsize so never seems crowded.  Crew is pleasant and ship is very clean.  The food is very average and service in the dining area is very slow.   Would I go on this cruise again.......absolutely!

Celebrity Millennium Alaska Wildlife Encounter-Great Trip! by Spensersmom

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

We took the 7 day Northern Glacier cruise followed by the 4 night Wildlife Encounter postcruise tour and it was super!  We were fortunate to have sunshine EVERY DAY and mild temperatures, which helped.  The  guides all knew their stuff and were very conscientious.  We did the Gold Rush Sled Dogs and White Pass Train, Whale watching cruise, Misty Fjords Boat and floatplane, and Helicopter to Mendenhall Glacer and all were well run and worth the money.  Qsine and Tuscan Grille on the ship were outstanding, main dining room very good (except for long lines), but the buffet was only ok (often running out of food and utensils at peak hours).  We prefer the bigger ships but this one is up to Celebrity's standards.  Great staff too, very accommodating.

Not a fan of Millennium by foodmaven

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

We just returned from our Alaskan cruise and love, love, love Alaska! We will probably go back, but it wouldn't be on Celebrity Millennium.

Our main complaint was with the food and beverage portion of cruise, which is a really big deal, as that is one of the reasons we cruise... no switching hotels or deciding where to eat.

Upon arriving on the ship around lunchtime , we went to the buffet since that was only area open. The food appeared to have been out for a while and steam tables were at a full, rolling boil, pushing steam out from under the pans of food. Most of the food was grossly overcooked. It lacked any basic seasoning, as simple as salt and pepper.

we walked to the martini bar afterward and met the bartender, Adrian. We had the classic drink package (mid-range) and asked if we could get a couple of martinis with the liquor from our package. He said no and he couldn't help us, saying that we might as well go ahead and upgrade to the premium package. He then walked away, leaving us flabbergasted by his sheer rudeness. We left and didn't return to that bar for the duration of the cruise.Other bartenders seemed confused by the rules of each package, misquoting prices and options. Servers wer few and far between. The entire ship seemed understaffed. Most cruises we have been on, you couldn't swing a cat without hitting someone trying to sell you a drink. On this sailing, it was a virtual waitstaff ghost town. The crew members we did see were more interested in flirting with fellow crew members than serving guests.

We have been on two European cruises and one other domestic and have never encountered anything like this.

The food in dining room was lackluster. They offered us Alaskan King Crab (we were in Alaska) at the grill for an up charge and never offered it in the dining room. Every piece of fish we ordered was overcooked.

Our cabin steward was outstanding. The ship is beautiful and the ports we visited were well prepared for ships with no tendering needed. That was a great change from a few of the tiny European ports!

We did an excursion in Juneau that we booked ourselves to take a helicopter ride and land on a glacier. Coastal Helicopters with the yellow 'copters were great and we highly recommend them! Also, Juneau whale watch was good too!!

The only excursion we did through the ship was the WPYR railroad trip, in Skagway, mainly because we could walk off the ship and climb aboard the train without having to walk into town to catch it.

We walked the town and wandered on our own in Icy Strait Point and Ketchikan. In Seward we booked a whale watch and salmon bake trip that was around 3.5 hours. The company was Major Marine Tours. The ships crew also cooked the all-you-can-eat buffet as well! Great bunch of people.

A great first cruise experience by bcheriot

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We booked the sampler Alaskan cruise because we had never cruised and wanted to test the "waters" before we chose a longer one.  Celebrity was a great choice in our opinion.  There was plenty to do on the ship and no one should ever be bored.  Even with some rough waters on one of our days at sea, we found comfort in our room and out on deck.  The food was great, in both the dining room and buffet.  It was an awesome experience and would most likely chose to Cruise with Celebrity again :-)

An older ship that doesn't deliver like their newer ones by mstuewe

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Celebrity Millennium / Destination: Transpacific

The entertainment was the best we have ever seen.  This was our 19th cruise, 6th on Celebrity. We always book Acqa class, not a fan of the large dining rooms.  The staff was very good, across the board.  We enjoyed the specialty restauraunts, although the Tuscan Grill was not up to the standards on other Celebrity ships.  You could not get a good cup of coffee except at Bacio,s.

The shio is definitely showing it's age.  We didn't have an exterior handle on ou sliding door. Part of our balcony needed painting, etc.

we enjoy Celebrity and have two future cruises booked.  We just won't o an older ship again.
