Review summary

Alaska is always worth the trip. Even though we had crummy weather it was fun. So glad I packed rain boots and rain gear. The zip line is a must do. Bummed about hiking the glacier and dog sledding being cancelled. Upgrade to aqua class if you can. We prefer quieter dining and Blu was worth it.

Embarkation

Easy process. But we were aqua class so things move more quickly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
This is a biased opinion because we don't eat at the buffet and on this cruise most dinners were at Blu which dining at Blu was worth the aqua class alone. It is much smaller than the main dining rooms and healthier food preparation Qsine is fun tapas style. Best meals were at Tuscan Grill I highly recommend the specialty restaurants. Breakfast was room service which was on time and adequate.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Too cold for the pool. But the pool area was typical. Nothing notable. Giving this a three because the gym is woefully undersized.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Good shows although we didn't go every night.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Exceptional room steward. All staff were friendly and helpful. Everyone greeted you

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Clean. But 4 stars only because some of the furnishings are beginning to show wear.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Size was fine. And bathroom a bit larger than the usual. Furnishings a bit worn. The running track is above this room. It was not a noise issue since I was usually the one running. But the view is obstructed. When you look up you only see the overhang so no star gazing from these cabins. It really limited your view.

Ship tip

Go at least aqua class if you can.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Ketchikan, Alaska

Did the duck tour. Fun. And there's a restaurant next to the lumberjack show which had amazing salmon chowder.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

Zodiac boats and zip lining. Amazing. Do this for sure!

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
Rain out so missed helicopters and dog sledding. So sad.

Skagway, Alaska

4 out of 5
Again. Helicopters and dog sled cancelled. But this is one of the more interesting port towns to walk around.

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska Did not visit port

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy. Took a motor coach to anchorage. Have done the train before, which I recommend but it leaves 6:30 am and it was rainy and foggy this day.
