Review summary

We went on this cruise to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We were a little disappointed that our special event was not recognized. Our overall experience was very good. The last day on the cruise was Hubbard Glacier. Our captain took the ship very close to the Glacier which was awesome. Our suggestions for improved food were well received, however, the crew cannot do much without the cruise line listening to comments. The land portion exceeded our expectations.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Vancouver port of entry was great. Celebrity had every one moving smoothly. We were in Concierge class, did not wait in any lines. Very efficient. The only time we saw the concierge was on this day. She was not readily available.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main dining room food was okay. Got better as week went on. Desserts were not good. We found desserts in buffet were much better. Voiced our opinions to matre'd. Food and desserts improved. Ate lunch twice in buffet. Did not use specialty dining at $45/pp.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Few things to participate in. Too busy with land tours.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows were just ok.

Children's Programs

No children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Dining room staff, wine steward, matre'd all excellent. Room steward also excellent. Bar staff was great.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship was clean. However, ship is very plain, needs updating.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was roomy enough. Balcony was fair size. Shower had musty odor.

Ship tip

Get the premium beverage package if you like good wine, premium drinks. I would also upgrade to Aqua Class.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Did not do an excursion. Arrived late evening day before cruise.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Nice port. We did the duck boat tour. Very nice and interesting. Tour guide was interesting, knowledgeable, and funny.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

We were told they had just completed their new landing area. It was very nice. We did the forest tram tour. Learned a lot about the culture of the natives. Our guide was a chief of his clan and gave us a great history lesson of the area. The town center of Hoonah does not have very much to see or do. However we met some very interesting people.

Juneau, Alaska

So disappointed we were unable to take our big tour on the hovercraft to the base of the glaciers. Weather was terrible, no fault of cruise or excursion. We decided to take a whale watch and Mendenhall Glacier tour. We were soaked on the cruise and went directly back to ship. Never saw, other than glimpse of Glacier.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Prettiest port. Salmon were running in downtown streams. We had to rush back to ship to join tour group for trip to Klondike Summit. Great tour guide.

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

5 out of 5
We disembarked in Seward and we're taken directly to our land tour bus.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Everything went very smoothly.
