Review summary

This was an amazing cruise that I highly recommend. The southern route is not as popular as the northern route so the ship was not at full capacity which made it very nice. The dining was excellent and the staff was superb.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very easy. It was not crowded as everyone had appointed times to report.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We dined mainly in the main dining room. We did not use the specialty restaurants and only went to buffet a few times when the dining room was not available. The food was excellent and the staff went above and beyond to please.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I only use the pool area. The hot tubs were crowded and people tended to stay in them rather than limit their time.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The entertainment could have been better especially in the lounges. The only really good one was the man doing James Taylor songs. The rest were subpar. There needed to be a lively duo or group suitable for dancing.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All were excellent. Very friendly and willing to help to suit our needs.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It would have been better with a main atrium in the center like many ships have that can be used as a gathering area. I did like the martini bar and coffee shop.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Lots of storage space and hangers. There was a safe and space to put a suitcase under the bed. It was kept very clean by the steward.

Ship tip

Take less clothes than you think you need.

Ports of call

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

3 out of 5
I was only here for a short period of time to board the ship.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
Very nice. Our ship got very close to the glacier. It was cold on deck.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
I liked this port but too many jewelry stores! I did the Mendenhall Glacier and it was a good experience.

Skagway, Alaska

3 out of 5
I took the train to the Yukon but it could not go into Canada so it was round trip on the train. The trip was too long. The original plan was better with a bus ride back. Most people were sleeping on the train. The views were good but not both ways. It got boring.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

2 out of 5
Not much here except a gift shop. Don't bother going to Hoonah village. That was a waste of time as there was absolutely nothing there. I rode the $5 shuttle and returned back as soon as possible.

Ketchikan, Alaska

4 out of 5
Very nice port with again too many jewelry stores. My excursion was average. I did highlights and totem poles.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

5 out of 5
Excellent views and we saw many whales.

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

3 out of 5
Vancouver was a bit disappointing. There are so many homeless everywhere. I did the Hop On and Hop Off and only got off at Granville Island. China Town did not look safe. There was also a lot of drug trade on the streets in many areas.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very easy. We took our own bags off of the ship and got off easily.

Appreciate your feedback. Sailing with a lower occupancy is wonderful, especially now. Glad you mostly enjoyed your Alaskan cruise.
