Review summary

Overall, the cruise was lots of fun since this is our first time to visit the ports in the itinerary. The ship is dated although cleanliness was maintained. Food was excellent for the dinner service but was average for breakfast. All of the staff we've encountered were all friendly and helpful.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
No hassler embarkation process. Didn't stand in line longer than 5 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The dinner menu is excellent in the main dining room as well as the specialty restaurants, Q-Sine and Tuscan Grill, and also at the buffet at Oceanview Restaurant. However, I can't say the same for breakfast. Breakfast menu is the same everyday of the cruise.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The pools were not too crowded depending on the time of the day. Since most of the passengers were older people, they mostly lounged and sunbathe around the pool area.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Nightly entertainment was pretty awesome and of good variety.

Children's Programs

We did not have any children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent service throughout the ship, from our cabin attendant all the way to the waiters and sommeliers.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Common areas were well maintained, however, the ship is dated as evidenced by visible rust on the balcony floor.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Size is pretty average for a ship's cabin. Not too much room to move around. We also had to stack our suitcases inside the clothes closet since there's no rom to put them in. However, our cabin attendant, Jose, kept the room clean and tidy at all times.

Ship tip

You have to try the specialty restaurant, Q-Sine.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

5 out of 5
A little bit too crowded especially in the tourist areas of Placa Catalunya and Las Ramblas (beware of pickpockets). The Metro is very easy to navigate one you figure it out. My wife and I explored on our own and didn't do an excursion.

Cannes, France

4 out of 5
Seems like a nice city but the festival was ongoing when we visited and the place was overcrowded with tourists trying to get a glimpse of a star. Went on an excursion to Monaco which is an awesome little country. 5 stars for Monaco.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

5 out of 5
Florence and Pisa was awesome although swarming with tourist. Went on an excursion to both places.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

5 out of 5
Went on an excursion to Rome which was about 50 kilometers away from the port. Rome was breathtaking. I was in awe at all the ancient edifices, We also went to the Vatican and saw St. Peter's Square, Sistine Chapel, and the basilica.

Naples, Italy

4 out of 5
Went on an excursion which was kind of hurried. We went to Positano in the Amalfi Coast and then visited the ruins of Pompeii (15 euros entrance ticket). Our guide took us on abbreviated trip of Pompeii which was 2 hours long. We didn't get to see all of Pompeii.

Palermo, Sicily

3 out of 5
Nothing much to see. We didn't go on an excursion and went on an hop-on hop-off bus tour instead. The did both red and blue lines and was over in about two hours.

Valletta, Malta

4 out of 5
Went on a 4 hour excursion wherein the bus took us around the island for some good photo opportunities,

Marseille (Provence), France

4 out of 5
Went on an excursion with a company not affiliated with the ship (cruisingexcursions.com), therefore, the tour bus was not able to approach the ship. The tour group had to walk half an hour each way to get to and from the bus. It was only a 4-hour excursion and the trip to Aix' en Provence took about 45 minutes each way. Therefore, it was an abbreviated tour with the guide when we got there.

Sete (Carcassonne), France

3 out of 5
Nothing much to see in this small fishing village either. Walked to the town centre for lunch and some souvenir and went back to the ship.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Flawless disembarkation. Passengers were grouped and were disembarking the ship in 15-minute intervals. Passengers with early flights and excursions were scheduled first followed by those with late flights or satying in Barcelona. Our luggages were waiting for us at the terminal when we got off the ship.
