Overall, the cruise was nice but I wasnt as happy with the ports because the ship docks far away from the cities of interest, so you need to spend a lot of time travelling by bus.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We flew to Barcelona three days prior to embarkation, which gave us time to enjoy Barcelona first. I highly recommend doing this!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food was awesome in the main dining room; so much so, that the specialty restaurants are really unnecessary to go to unless you just want a change of scenery.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Because its an older ship , there weren't as many activities as a newer and bigger ship. But as far as activities to participate in, there's the art Auction, karoake, group games, etc.
No wild games like Scavenger hunt. But keep in mind that this cruise is geared to a more mature crowd, plus you're at a port practically everyday so you don't need a whole lot of acrivities.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
I didnt see many of the shows. I did see a Juggler/Comedian, who was fantastic. The live bands were great! The crowd was very live and made the later night participation in dancing very enjoyable.
Children's Programs
No Kids with me
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Room steward was very attentive as well as the waiters in the main dining room
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Layout was fine, but as far as cleanliness, we uncovered poorly washed dishes in a pile at the buffet. The waiters were very lax about cleaning up peoples tables after a show.
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
Cant say a good thing about this because we were given a filthy cabin. It had a thick layer of dust on all of the surfaces! They had to do a major cleaning with the steam cleaner. The closet is also very inadequate for hanging clothes, considering you have 12 days worth of clothes for two people
Could have been more enjoyable had it not been raining. We took excursions to Eze, Nice and Antibes. All beautiful places! Was disappointed with the excursion because they only allowed 20 minutes to walk around Eze! They wasted over an hour to visit the perfume factory, Fragonard. Waste of time and money!
From here you go to Rome. I was in Rome last year so went on an excursion to the Italian Countryside to see a wine vineyard instead. Wouldnt recommend this. Its pretty lame and also a long bus ride. Go to Rome instead
Took an excursion along the Amalfi coast to Sorrento & Amalfi. Beautiful vistas! Again, Only complaint is that its a long bus ride to get to the cities and back
Took an excursion to Cassis. The bus ride offered breathtaking views of the sea. We enjoyed a relaxing stroll around the harbor and the old, quaint shops.
Took an excursion to Montpelier. We were unimpressed.. Then, we traveled to the countryside where we had a tour of an old home, Also unimpressive and had a wine tasting at Chateau de Flaugergues.
I'm inclined to think some of this is over exaggerated. I've been on several Celebrity ships including the Infinity and have never experienced a thick layer of dust anywhere.
Sometimes excursions are hit and miss. Try to find the positives, and realize you are having many people's bucket list experiences. A day in anywhere beats a day in the normalcy of life.
