Carnival Venezia overview

It’s a long way from Venice to NYC, but Carnival Venezia thinks the two could be next-door neighbors. This ship sails from its Big Apple homeport, year-round, starting in spring 2023! And what can NYC find in this ship? Well, there’s more than a little Italy in this one — that’s why we’re calling this new type of cruising Fun Italian Style™. It starts with the Venice-inspired atrium Piazza San Marco, the onboard flavor and flair continues at restaurants like the elegant three-course Marco Polo and Canal Grande Restaurants, La Strada Grill and its Italian street food, plus fusion spots Tomodoro (Mexican-Italian, yum!) and Guy’s Burger Joint (new burgers with Italian flavors — also yum!). Sip well at bars that each specialize in their own thing: complex and sophisticated cocktails at Amari, bubbly stuff (plus snacks and coffee) at Frizzante, frozen everything at Rococó and fine Italian wines at Carnevale Bar & Lounge. There’s great entertainment at the red-velvety Teatro Rosso and its Playlist Productions™ shows, plus Gondola Lounge was inspired by the famous canals of Venice. Terrazza staterooms are a whole new way to stay in style and comfort, all in a great location close to amenities like the exclusive Terrazza Carnevale, a private terrace deck made for lounging, sipping and fun, day or night!
There’s also a lot of the classic Carnival fun that repeat cruisers ( hey there!) know and love. Deliciously familiar flavors come from spots like Bonsai Teppanyaki™ and Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse™, while celebration spots include Piano Bar 88 and Serenity Bar, and relaxation happens at Cloud 9 Spa™ and Serenity Adult-Only Retreat™. For the kids, there’s spaces just right for their age like Camp Ocean™, Circle “C”® and Club O2®. And outdoors, get ready for a very splashy WaterWorks™ and SportSquare™ featuring a ropes course, jogging track, mini golf and outdoor fitness center. Carnival Venezia and all this Fun Italian Style sets sail from NYC next spring. Andiamo!

It was OK by eccops4kids

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Venezia

We made the best of our cruising experience. I would probably give it an overall rating of 3.5. I would recommend this for individuals that just want to lay back and relax and are accustomed to small ships. But if you are extremely active this is not for you. Also, if you are not accustomed to smoking this ship is definitely not for you. If you do choose this ship, get to know Georgia the Cruise Director and Chacho at the Comedy clubs they are both very uplifting individuals. I usually travel with large groups; this time we chose to go on our own and overall, it was OK

Would like a redo with a clean cabin by KellyFornshell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Venezia

It was nice to cruise out of NY and see the statue of Liberty from the water. The decor and layout of the ship was different but I liked it. The food was pretty good. When you are cooking for 4000 for 11 days it got a little repetitive, understandingly. Was very disappointed with the condition of my room but continued to tip as I know the cabin stewards work very hard. Overall, there was enough to do to make it a fun time.

Stay away from this cruise. Carnival needs to train their employees on proper customer service. We had to wait 3 hours in NYC getting onto the ship. We were hoping things would improve after boarding but that didn't happen. There is not much to do unless you want to be drunk the whole cruise. If you paid the ridiculous price for the unlimited drink option then I guess you would want to drink so you can forget this cruise. The staff was not helpful or polite. On every other cruise we have been on most of the staff always greets you and will talk with you. We decided to get off the ship when we reached the first port. We had a great day walking around and made sure we were back early enough to board the boat. Well, Carnival had more problems with getting people on the boat and ended up waiting again. We were told by the port authorities that Carnival was experiencing a problem with their boarding so we sat down for a bit. No one was moving for at least 30 minutes. We finally got back into line and waited more than an hour to get back on board. The port authorities were awesome. They walked around apologizing and offering help to everyone. When we got back on board we went to guest service to talk about our bill and the women was so unpleasant. She did not want to talk with us. We did ask about the delay and she didn't apologize. Instead she blamed the port authorities. The family next to us was complaining about their cruise and asked for a number to call. We requested that number too but were denied the information. The other agent finally gave us a number but it was just the 1-800-carnival general number. We have an international calling plan on our cell phone so decided to spend time on our vacation calling that number. The only way to get to a live person was to request booking a future cruise. I explained the situation to the representative on the phone. She did apologize but explained that they couldn't do anything on their end because we were still on the cruise. She explained that I would need to speak with someone at guest services on the ship but I had already explained to her that experience. She gave us an email to send our complaint to. I did send them an email as soon as we got off the phone. We received a auto response that stated it would take up to 45 days to get a response back!!!! Wow!! How does Carnival feel that is acceptable customer service????

It is American and does not typify the "real" Italy, as Costa ships normally do so well.
