Carnival Valor overview

By Cruiseline.com - Updated Mar. 4, 2020

Launched in 2004, The Conquest-class ship from Carnival Cruise Line was recently renovated in 2016, receiving Carnival’s new “Fun Ship 2.0” treatment. Travelers aboard the Carnival Valor will now enjoy Carnival’s newest dining venues, an enhanced nightlife and an overall improved ship full of excitement. Upgrades include the addition of venues such as Guy's Burger Joint, RedFrog Rum Bar, BlueIguana Tequila Bar, BlueIguana Cantina and many more.

Fun activities are available for kids including Suess at Sea, a 4-deck-tall spiral water slide. Camp Carnival includes supervised game and activities. And don’t worry about your teens, as they can hang out in a club that is designed just for them.

What’s in store for the adults? You can relax and grab a drink at one of the great bars and lounges available throughout the ship like the Alchemy Bar, have some laughs at the comedy club, or get your groove on at the nightclub. Need some peace and quiet? Catch some sun at the Serenity Retreat, a quiet, adult-only area

The 2019 - 2020 sailing for the Carnival Valor departs from Galveston and New Orleans with destinations to the Caribbean and the Panama Canal.

Before you book

Why you should sail on Carnival Valor: Carnival Valor tends to draw couples, families, and groups of friends. The crowd will vary slightly depending on the itinerary and time of year. For example, you'll find younger couples and families with kids on Caribbean itineraries, but the age skews slightly higher on Panama Canal voyages.

You should know: You won't find many outlets in the cabins, and the location of the kid's club is not ideal - you can hear the kids from below in the spa and in the Serenity deck area.

Better than expected for a first time cruise by l114

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Valor

This was about what I expected. Ship needs a redo but I didn't want to spend my entire time on the ship. I enjoyed the Serenity Deck which was beautiful and quiet. Get there early. Balcony room is small. Bathroom is plastic. Entertainment is ok. Food so so with some exceptions. Lots of pressure to buy things at shops, but easily resisted. Staff and crew were great. Excursions were the best part and I loved both. The experience of being at sea was excellent. I had a terrible experience getting on the ship where I was felt up UNDER my bra and my breasts commented on because I was suspected of having some kind of illegal substances, which I absolutely did not have. I am sure it was just because someone wanted to feel my breasts. Otherwise, it was as expected.

Overall okay but doubt I would cruise this ship again by Trademark426

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Valor

Overall, it was an OK experience, but I definitely would not cruise on the ship again. Our first day was extremely rough with even the staff commenting on how bad it was. Like I said previously, things were very outdated, but everything was clean and mostly well cared for. The only negative experience we really had was with the spa who was extremely pushy and then Added an extra gratuity charge that we did not authorize so we had to go back for them to reimburse it.
