Entertainments. We were told we could bring a bottles of wines in which we did. However, our wine was confiscated and wasn't return. wish they had a better policy on what you can or can not bring and the process of which you can bring anything of that nature onboard.

Relaxation Time by cbbbbb

The was very relaxing. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent.

Directions could have been a little clearer on each deck, however we were not in a hurry to be anywhere so we figured out how to get from one place to another.

The cabins were always clean and bed was  comfy. Steward was  attentive and called us by name each day as did all of the waiters we had contact with. All in all it was a very relaxing trip and I would recommend the cruise to my friends.

Great Evening Entertainment by MERichardson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The evening entertainment was a professional mix of song, dance and light from the 60's to the 90's bringing back many memories from the adult community of travelers.

The Serenity Decks were wonderful retreats from the noise and chaos of the young ones in the Sports and Watersports areas.

Assigned dining was semiformal but memorable, classic entrees and entire meals based on the local cuisine and dining culture accompanied by topical beverages or wines.

A lot of walking too see family! by Cruiser27186560

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The food was excellent and so was the service. Walter and Jesus were the best  servers.  J.J. the Bingo   lady was the Best. There was  no mini frig or ice in the rooms .More inside  activity for teenagers.. The cruise director was Great.  It took to  long for us to get off the ship. Our plain was to leave at 220. in the afternoon. We almost  missed the plain.

Rough Seas, Logistical Issues Kept Carnival Sunshine from Shining by dunndonna

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The service on the cruise was wonderful, and the cruise director and staff were very fun. Loved karaoke and the piano bar. However, the very long lines in Norfolk (2 hour wait in the 90-degree heat) caused us to leave late, and almost the whole rest of the cruise ran late. Arrived in Nassau late and several shore excursions were cancelled. Departure from the boat became chaotic and no one was sure where to go to connect with Atlantis. Rough seas going and coming also contributed to the schedule problems. It rained all but one day of our 5-day cruise. Our glass bottom boat excursion in Freeport was cancelled, but no one told us so we waited on the docks in the rain for nearly an hour. Finally, my husband had to do some work online and wound up paying for the most expensive wifi package so he could get any internet service. However this was even unreliable and took 4 hours to send one text-based email at the worst of it.

Fun Ship! by CyndyJoPo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We took our 12 year old grandson on the cruise and he had a fantastic time! We do wish the age ranges for the youth program would have included 12 year olds in the  program where parents had to sign them in and out. We feel that 12 year olds should not be with 13 and 14 year olds where they can have the run of the ship late at night without adult supervision. Too many things can happen when young, impressionable kids are lead by older, more mature teenagers. The Sports Court was great!

Review of service by Maniac

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This has been one of the worst cruises I have ever been on. It started from departure to the end. It took forever to get on and very unorganized in getting off. The food was just so so. I have had better. If it wasn't for the band Broken Headlights , we would have been really upset. The shows were the same as last Oct cruise. We did anytime dinning for the first time and would never do that again!  I think Carnival is just getting away from customer service.

Carnival is awesome Cruise One is Not by Cruiser88148086

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Carnival does all that it can to make sure their guests have a good time.  The only reason my family & I did not love our Bahamas vacation was because of the inaccurate information Cruise One provided multiple times.

Sunshine Review by kasemade

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My favorite part of the cruise was all the entertainment. Every event that I attended was a great time and really made for an enjoyable experience. The improvement needed (and by far) is the cheers beverage program and notifying your guests of the extra costs. The cheers program let me down the first night and now I am stuck trying to get back my money for all my drinks purchase the first night. There were also extra gratuity fees that I wasn't aware of. Please, for future cruises, help passengers understand better ALL THE COSTS.other than that I had a really great time.

Fun in the sun on the Sunshine! by lovedmycruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was a wonderful cruise! It was short and fabulous--leaving me looking to book my next cruise vacation literally on the way home. The ship was great--plenty to do or not, everything was easy to access, and I cannot think of anything I found lacking. The crew was exceptional! Everyone worked hard to make sure we had the best time--nothing was too much to ask. I cannot believe how hard crew members work but they always have a smile for their passengers. We chose 2 excursions through Carnival and they were lots of fun and greatly added to our enjoyment of our trip. We took the catamaran/snorkeling trip in Nassau--it was a fun sailing trip. We also took a trip around Freeport to see a farm, the Owl Hole, and then to a gorgeous beach for lunch--again, completely recommend the chance to learn more about Bahamian culture. Every day the food was delicious--and seemed to never end--so abandon your diet! One last tip for any cruise: bring cash in small bills ($1s and $5s) for tips and to purchase things on shore. Bigger bills are useless as you will often be told the seller cannot make change or they'll want to make change in the local currency. I brought $200 and that's plenty for such a short cruise. I really cannot find enough to say about how great my trip was so I'll end with--take this cruise and enjoy yourself!!!HappyBig SmileBig SmileBig Smile

Great time for a 5 day escape! by CocomoJoe

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We loved the cruise.  The staff on the Carnival Sunshine is amazing.  These people are sincere about making sure you are happy.  We had a great time.  The food was great and the ship was awesome.  There just is not a lot to do that is real fun in the Bahamas as far as vacations go.  It was scary to get off of the ship because of the announcements when we ported reminding us that we were in a foreign country and to be careful.  It make you think twice before leaving the ship.  We would definitely do it again.  Just would want to maybe go to a different port.  Cruising is the best.  You don't have to worry about anything but chillaxin'!!

Drunk & Disorderly! by michele554

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

1st time cruisers looking for a new experience in travel.  Seasoned global travelers via Delta.  The cruise was not what we expected!  We met other many-time cruiser who also voiced the same issues that we noticed, so this is an unbiased review.

Cruise Day: late leaving port by 1 1/2 hour because passsengers did not arrive on time.  So we sat in Charleston Port waiting.

When activities began-nothing ran on time.  Shows were delayed or if they were on time ran over so I order to get to the next activity on the other side of the ship we were now late!  There should have been a 5-10 min window between activities.

We booked 'Spa Cloud 9' room- but many times other passengers would 'bump or knock' on our door.  Remnants of a daiquiri was splattered outside our door 2 nights in a row and wasn't cleaned up.  The additional cost did not mean peace & quiet.

The Carnival Sunshire is an old rust bucket, during the cruise attendants were painting (YES! painting the ship). The paint smell was horrible and waited in our stateroom balcony.  As we found out from other cruisers-Sunshine is the oldest and nastiest ship.  We agree!

Food:  lots & lots of McDonald quality food.  It was not horrible, but it was semi-edible.  Salad bar was decent.  The dining room areas were nice, Lido marketplace-I would avoid, we looked, by do not do buffet.  Specialty restaurants are okay:  Fahrenheit is good, but make reservations early.  Bonsai-mediocre sushi. JiJi is good and customizable dishes.  24-hour Pizza was a favorite and fresh, but you can't live on pizza for 3-meals a day.  Room service had the best coffee-stronger than the Lido commissary.

Drinks:  flowed freely and were all over $54.99/per person a day with a max of 15 drinks per cruiser plan would seem to be plenty-but it was not for this cruise. People were over-drinking heir plans!   We did not purchase, but enjoyed one glass of wine with dinner for $10.95 per glass!!!

Debarking:  another fiasco.  There was a session on how to debate, but only a few attended.  So the morning of departure all the passenger raced to deck 3 to get off, thereby shutting down Customs.  So those of us who actually listened waited  3 additional hours to get off at 11am.  We were evicted from the rooms at 8am so the cleaning crews could 'sterile' the ship for the next group boarding at 11:30am.  I will tell you, our 'Spa Cloud 9 Stateroom' was far from sterile and smelled of old urine.

Beautiful Locations by dfferro

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

My wife and I greatly enjoyed seeing five different islands. The locations were fantastic. Unfortunately during our trip both my wife and I got food poisoning from most likely under-cooked or not properly stored food while on the ship.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We enjoyed cruising with Carnival again.. We cruised with Carnival for our

50th anniversary (we just recently celebrated our 63 anniversary) . Our

daughter, Devonna Hisel, shared this cruise with us.  She was OVERWHELMED

with the whole cruise. (her first one). She really enjoyed the horse back trips that she took. We are looking forward  to using your

Cruise Line at some later date. We have REALLY ENJOYED ALL OF GOD'S

WONDERFUL CREATION THAT WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO VISIT.

All Great -- Except for Room Steward by gamecoc430

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Sunshine / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our first 10 day cruise and we enjoyed every minute of it.  If you stop in San Juan, PR, there are two free shuttles available downtown just across from the terminal.  One trolley, the green line, makes a loop in the old part of San Juan shopping district, while the other makes a loop around all the old forts.  I recommend both.

Cruise itself was great.  Entertainment was the best we've ever seen on a cruise and the food seemed to be better than usual.  We did the Chef's Table again and that's one event you should do.  Also the behind the scenes tour was great and we got to see all the areas normally off limits.

The only negative was our room steward who kept telling us how busy he was.  Dirty glasses didn't get replaced, bath mat would not always be left, and even when we placed the "cruising" sign on our door early in the morning, it would often be late in the day before our room was serviced.  We actually only saw him on the first day but did talk to him on his phone.  Maybe he was given more rooms than other stewards, maybe he had to fill in for someone missing, not sure what was going on but this was certainly not usual.  Except for this the cruise was great.  Big Smile
