Splendor review by Dmcullo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

for the most part the cruise was ok- I think that the cruise director was horrible. The were minimal activities or relevance. I have to tell you that  I spent more time in my cabin on this cruise that any other cruise that I have ever taken. Needless to say, I was not impressed.Angry

The cleanliness of the boat was spot on. The food was great and the other services provided were great. With the exception of the cruise director, the staff was impressive.

Now, my cabin steward (Agus- cabin 2428) was the BEST!!!.Happy I was very impressed with his attention to my cabin and my needs. Anything that I needed, which was not much was always accommodated.

Finally, the disembarkation was HORRENDOUS...Again another product of the disorganization of the cruise director and staff. I left my cabin at 7:45 am and did not get off of the boat until 10:45 am. I have always disembarked no later than 9:30 am and that's with being in group 28. I had group 27 on this disembarkation.Nervous

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The entire cruise was wonderul.

Stewards Tedhi and Rona were exceptional,

Keno, Tohki and George were excellent

The only negative was we were traveling with

another couple and wanted the door between the

balcony open and it would not stay open kept banging

other than that it was a very enjoyable cruise in all

respects.

Shows were amazing.

The highlights of our cruise were the beauty of Bermuda, the great ship staff, & the incredible experience of the "Chef's Table" tour & meal. I recommend not arriving in Bermuda on a Sunday, because everything is closed.Happy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I enjoyed the services from room service and our food servers and stewards they were at our service continuing. They were always pleasant and had a smile to greet us every night. All l could say is they made our trip great. Also my wife wanted me to commend the hair stylist on board in the salon, he was very professional and left her looking simply beautiful, all l can say is "thank you".

Enjoyable cruise. Excellant food in the dining room but average on Lido deck.

Good itinerary. Good entertainment. Nice touch with midnight buffet and chocolate extravagana. Appreciated recognizing our anniversary and giving us gift cards.

Great Cruise by gojopeper

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Bermuda

Capt, took the ship around a tropical disturbance ,so we had the best of weather.  The dining room menu and food was excellent..the ship was like new, very clean.with nice decor. The evening shows presented were entertaining..The ports selected for the cruise were great, and we got to visit Bermuda from Miami!.        Negative..They were not organized the first day..The lines to board the ship were overwhelming..once onboard ,to get something to eat was ridiculous long, long, buffet line, no silverware available, no ice, empty drinks, etc..Then they forgot to publish  or announce a time change..We didn't know it ,the crew didn't know it ,and then the ship departed late, had to wait for passages..our cabin although perfect for getting around the ship ,was very noisy,so much banging and swishing on the wall we couldn't sleep..I wouldn't recommend this cabin to anyone..Again there were very long lines to getting off the ship at the ports.Lastly for some unknown reason ,dinner in the dinning room took 2 hrs each night...Somehow the ships organization just wasn't there..

Don't sail on the Carnival Splendor. by lrd200

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Bermuda

Some of the crew could use lessons in people skills and professionalism.  We selected a 220 sq ft with picture window, sofa and twin beds that convert to king.  We were put in a room that was about 150 sq feet with 1 closet and a coffee table that was up against the one closet with 1 chair.  When we inquired about this, we were told we would have to wait until the next morning and someone would contact us.  It never happened.  We went back to customer service and were told there were NO EMPTY CABINS on the ship until my husband said he wanted to speak with the captain.  Then miraculously a cabin became available.  We later found out that the cabin next to us and across from us were both empty for the entire cruise.  We lost almost 2 days of our cruise. The person in charge was rude and said she had more important things to deal with than us complaining about our cabin.  I have been on 16 cruises and this was the worst of all.  Also, the cruise director, Chloe, was poor at best.  She was almost never seen (we heard her voice over the intercom).  The comedy club was terrible.  No one was the least bit funny.  I have sailed on 4 other Carnival cruises which were fine, but not this one.  Don't go the Grand Turk.  It is anything but grand.  The poorest place I've ever been.  The excursion was terrible; nothing to see but slum areas and the guide could not be understood at all.  Wasted money.

9 Nights Bermuda Carnival Journeys by billkarenvan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our favorite part of this cruise was two days at Bermuda and the entertainment.  The island of the Bermuda was very interesting and very clean area.

The bad part of this cruise was our room steward.  The food was excellent!!!  Especially lobster dinners twice.

Carnival by gustavbrain

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Bermuda

The food was very good as was the waiters. The entertainment was average. I was disappointed with Dominican Republic, as it was a poor country. There was a lot of beggars, which harassed you frequently. The countryside was pretty except for all the trash.

somewhat disappointed by plamonica

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Bermuda

the favorite part of the cruise was the exceptional show cast. They were the best I have every had the honor to see both on stage and off ;therefore, the 3 stars . I have cruised with carnival (the last time in 2005) before and tried them again. I was disappointed with lack of organization and processing entering the ship as well as the mealtime scheduling. I am most upset about the fact I was charged $723 for taxes, fees, and port charges while our friends with the same accommodations were charged $322. Who would like to explain that to me?.

Can't Waite to come back by mayan1

The best cruise I ever been on. Looking forward to my next cruise. My house keeping steward Sudi made us feel like we were his family and Elizabeth our dining waitress was so nice. I wish every cruise I go on I could have those two.

Carnival Doesn't Care. by Lilika

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Carnival Splendor was anything but. The staff ranged from indifferent to rude. The food, save for the Pinnacle (awesome waitstaff) and the main dining rooms  (poor waitstaff, spoke to Sasha, the dining room captain, with no real effect), was lackluster, overcooked and often just simply unavailable. I was very much looking forward to the spa, but even that was hit or miss. The steam rooms were not properly heated, nor were the Thalosso pool and heated chairs on occasion. Our accounts were overcharged. Carnival failed to add our on-board credit. The WiFi was expensive and spotty. In the evening, food lines were unreasonably long; mostly, there just did not seem to be much availability in terms of hours.

But worst of all, Carnival left 300 guests, including myself, outside trying to return to the ship for more than 20 minutes during a thunderous storm. The wind was blowing, lightning strikes streaked the sky around us, while the pouring rain pelted us from all sides - pouring rain  does not even do the situation justice, what we experienced felt like a tsunami/hurricane. The rain was so hard at points that you actually could not see, or even breathe, at times. It was a frightening experience and I am not easily frightened. Yet, Carnival did nothing. Literally nothing. They continued their normal embarkation process as though nothing were happening at all. When we finally got on board, there were no apologies or acknowledgement of what had happened. When we went to guest services, the response was a blunt  "We cannot control the rain." We were also told that they thought about giving out ponchos, but decided against it, because they did not have enough. So they decided not to do anything. There was seemingly zero leadership or protocol for what to do in the event that a sudden and potentially storm overtakes the ship during embarkation, which is unacceptable. I have no confidence that the captain and crew of the Carnival Splendor could appropriately handle a crisis situation; I simply do not trust them with my safety.

The comedy show (Mike Estime) and the nightlife were standouts, as were the perpetually enjoyable Love and Marriage show, random trivia, BINGO, karaoke, and Adults Only events. Chloe the Cruise Director was a pleasure. Annya at guest services was amazing and diligently helped us to sort out the errors on our account. I also enjoyed the food in the dinning room, it was consistently good and there was a nice variety.

I enjoyed both ports. We paid for excursions, but there was plenty of fun to be had at port, which was a great idea. Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville in the Turks and Caicos was fun.

Carnival could do much more to target millennials like me and my friends. See that there is an app in development. Would have been nice to have on this ship.

The overall experience left me with the unshakable conclusion that Carnival doesn't care about it's guests. Guests are valuable commodities - something to be exploited but not truly cared for.

Unorganized mediocre cruiseline by Live2Dive

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Splendor is a dated ship with way too much pink tiger print wallpaper. The dining rooms are equally bizarre and the food/drink was just OK. The staff were not overly polite, leaving me looking forward to the end of the cruise. We've been on several other cruise lines, and decided to try Carnival. Sorry to say that it was a first AND last experience. There are several better options out there that offer much more than what we experienced.

Great for our first Cruise by bubbles4716

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise... food was great, met some fun people, plenty to keep people of all ages busy. The only downside was the pools are very small and not deep even the adult pool was only a little over 4 ft deep. Before booking the cruise a lot of people complained about the tacky décor... I found the décor whimsical with an inspiration from Dr. Seuss. Excursions are a bit overpriced... went through a different vendor and saved tons of money. We got the bubbles soda package for the week, reasonably priced for around $36.00 a person, we did not buy the cheers package that was around $56 a per person per day. My other gripe was the boarding and debarking process on the first and last day of the cruise. It was very unorganized and created many unnecessary lines. Then once you board the ship and begin to get settled, they have a practice Muster drill... again more waiting in lines in the heat. I understand it is for our safety, but it was something that could have been explained in a video. or done by individual muster groups.

Excellent cruise by maggieelliott45

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The entertainment.  The singers and dancers in the theater were excellent.  Also the singers and band on deck 3 in the bar area were so good.

The food was wonderful!  Always something to do.  A lot going on or just relaxing by pool or even playing golf.  Great adventure!

Carnival exceeded my expectations.  Have been on many cruises both Carnival and others.  The experience on the Splendor was better than my experiences on prior Carnival ships.

Incredible! by taybodz

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

As four college kids in the most stressful part of our degree, this trip was greatly needed. While my best friend and I have been on multiple cruises together, our boyfriends had never cruised before. This was an incredible experience for all of us and we couldn't be more grateful. Chloe was an amazing cruise director. Hands down the best cruise director I've ever had. I even had to opportunity to get to know her on a more personal level during some down time and it made my experience even better. Lucas Day was also one of my favorite solo artists I've encountered while cruising. Both of them were a huge influence on my experience.
