Review summary

Some of the crew could use lessons in people skills and professionalism.  We selected a 220 sq ft with picture window, sofa and twin beds that convert to king.  We were put in a room that was about 150 sq feet with 1 closet and a coffee table that was up against the one closet with 1 chair.  When we inquired about this, we were told we would have to wait until the next morning and someone would contact us.  It never happened.  We went back to customer service and were told there were NO EMPTY CABINS on the ship until my husband said he wanted to speak with the captain.  Then miraculously a cabin became available.  We later found out that the cabin next to us and across from us were both empty for the entire cruise.  We lost almost 2 days of our cruise. The person in charge was rude and said she had more important things to deal with than us complaining about our cabin.  I have been on 16 cruises and this was the worst of all.  Also, the cruise director, Chloe, was poor at best.  She was almost never seen (we heard her voice over the intercom).  The comedy club was terrible.  No one was the least bit funny.  I have sailed on 4 other Carnival cruises which were fine, but not this one.  Don't go the Grand Turk.  It is anything but grand.  The poorest place I've ever been.  The excursion was terrible; nothing to see but slum areas and the guide could not be understood at all.  Wasted money.

We were changed (with a great deal of aggravation) because we were not put in the 220 sq foot cabin as we reserved. Person in charge was rude and told us there were no other cabins. There were. It took us 2 days to get it fixed.

Ship tip

Don't go on the Splendor. I heard more complaints than I've ever heard before on all of my other 16 bined.

I hate when you don't ever see the cruise director. But in addition to Grand Turk, if you had bothered to read a review online about it before you went, it would have told you just to visit the beach and not do an excursion. They're almost never worth it. If you hadn't let stupid stuff like all that get to you, your trip could have been incredible. You messed it up for yourself. Sucks for you.

I think some of the things you found wrong with the cruise is because of you, not Carnival. Grand Turk is beautiful, it's not Carnival's fault if you can't see beautiful when you're right in front of it. And as for the comedy club, just because you didn't think the comedians were funny, doesn't mean they weren't. The issues with your room sucks, as well as not seeing the cruise director sucks.

Sounds as if they may have paid for a larger room and the travel agent overcharged them.

I don't understand how that happened, we always book our specific cabin and never have an issue. I go back to my original question as to whether they used a travel agent or carnival representitive. If they used a travel agent they may have dropped the ball, not carnival.

Because they lost two days in the room that they should have been in the first place. The problem should have been fixed when they got on the ship. It's like buying prime rib for dinner and getting hamburger. You expected to get fixed that day.

Why call to complain? The captain fixed the situation.

I would call and complain to Carnival about what happened. If there any kind of company at all they should adjust your bill or your next Cruise. If I had paid for a bigger room and put me in a smaller one I too would not be happy. On all the other parts of the ship that is personal preferences on how we look at things. Hope your next cruises are fun and without any disasters. I can't wait to be on splendor this next coming year.

I was on Splendor May 15th. CD Chloe was good, not great like Matt. I felt she kept crowd entertained. Asked me if I wanted to be in show. Love Grand Turk. Beautiful beach - short walk from ship. Negotiated 2 chairs/umbrella $12, don't drink beer. Staff I dealt with was very polite and pleasant. Comedy made me laugh. Maybe it was u since u was mad about cabin from the beginning.

Did you book with a travel agent or directly thru carnival? Grand Turk is awesome, most beautiful beach, walk up to Jacks shack for a great time and Margueritaville is fun although a little more pricey, but we're on vacation so what the heck go for it.
