We were on the Spirit and found it absolutely beautiful. Everything was easy to find and easy to get around.

Excellent ship with everything a person could want. Overall organization was excellent. The only disappointment was the food in the main dining room which was just OK.

Ship was great - easy to navigate and very nice common areas. Lovely decorations - particularly in the main dining room.

On August 23, we took a Carnival Spirit cruise through the Alaska inside passage. First off the help from Alaska Airlines prior to booking the cruise was one of the best experiences I have ever had. They took care of the smallest details and answered all of our questions prior to the trip. It is always a pleasure to see things go exactly as they explained prior to the trip. Way to go Alaska Airlines!! Upon boarding the ship we were immediately greeted by the staff that would be taking care of our stateroom and members of the crew. Lunch was provided on the Lido deck and it was terrific. The ship sailed on time to the minute. The entire crew was always greeting us with a "Hello" and smiling. They made you feel like they really cared about us. Details of the ship itinerary was in our cabin and a presentation given by the cruise director was most helpful. After the first day, the ship really felt like home. Everything was orchestrated from breakfast, lunch and dinner to shows and shore excursions. There was never a feeling of not knowing what was going to happen next. Ship departed ports on-time. The highlight of the trip had to be the ship pulling in next to the Harvard Glacier in College Fjord. Absolutely magnificant the way the captain was able to manuever the ship about 1000 feet from the glacier and then turn the boat 180 degrees to give the other side the same view. The memories of this trip will live with us forever.

The most interesting point about this cruise is the fact that there is something to visit every day of the cruise. There is not "at the sea" days. Furthermore, some of this places can only be visited by air or sea, and a couple of them only by sea (Harvard Glacier). It makes Alaska cruises very exclusive. The only thing that could be named as a bad aspect of the trip is that the weather can be bad sometimes. Some of the cities that we visited have an average of more than 300 days raining every year. July and August are the best months for this cruise.

My favorites about the Carnival Spirit were the bubbling hot tub in the spa located at the front of the ship. It was covered and inside with windows overlooking the bow. You could see the ocean all around you while relaxing. I went there almost every day, whether it was after an interesting tour or to relieve sore muscles because I danced a little too much in the lounge the night before.

Our family has been on numerous cruises with many different cruiselines. Carnival is our family favorite and Alaska is now our top destination!

We recently sailed on the Canival Sprit and all I can say is what a great time we had. We knew the ship was smaller then other in the fleet but it was just right for our trip. The food service was great, and the shows were wonderful. This was my third cruise with carinval and it will not be my last. I am looking forward to my Cruise in January 07 which we have already booked with you.

This was my first cruise in over 20 years. We travelled in late July. We now know that summer is over in Alaska by July 4 and that it is almost always raining. Unfortunately, the low lying clouds obscurred any view most days. And it was so rainy that it was too unpleasant to sit outside. We found the excursions far too expensive since we were travelling as a family of 5. And the cruise was predominantly seniors. There were very few children. Overall, this was a poor choice of cruise for our family. If you go, be sure to pack rain gear and extra walking shoes so that they can dry out between wearings.

Ship was nice. Service was pretty good. There were a lot of things to do. Many opportunities to spend money. Plenty of good food.

Our cruise in Alaska was wonderful. This was our second cruise with Carnival. We had an obstructed view balcony room. This balcony was fine - for the difference in price it was well worth it. You could see over the life boats just fine. A balcony room is a must for an Alaskan cruise. There are times when they annouce whale sitings, etc. and it is great to be able to go to the balcony if you happen to be in your cabin.

We just returned from a 7 day Cruise on the Northbound Alaska Cruise on the Carnival Spirit and the beauty of the mountains, wild life and oceans can not be decribed. We will always remember our 40th Wedding Anniversary Trip.

We sailed the Northbound Alaska cruise. The scenery was awsome. The rooms were good sized. The service and the food were not very good. It kinda of all tasted the same. We have had much better on other cruises. The waiter never even learned our names (never used them) for the seven days we were on the cruise. The atmosphere was kinda dead. It was a much older crowd I guess. Not a whole lot going on.

We were traveling as a family of four in two separate rooms. The rooms were quite a bit larger than other cruises we had been on. We opted not to get balconies and were not at all sorry, because the windows were large and we enjoyed going on deck to view the scenery. Our wait staff was so wonderful that our teenage kids ate with us in the dining room all 7 nights! We've never seen them eat so much food - they even liked the brussel sprouts! We can't wait until we can go on another cruise.

My friend and I took the cruise as a week away from it all--work, children etc... so our goals were less about the cruise ship itself and more about having the some girlfriend time together to do some things out of the ordinary. I have cruised before and she hadn't, but this was a first cruise with Carnival for me. While the Spirit was not the finest ship I have sailed with, it certainly wasn't the worst. Our cabin staff was courteous and efficent; we thought our room was always well cleaned and stocked with ice, towels, and whatever else was required. Our dining staff were friendly and anticipated our wants after day one. The excursions were well organized and the excursion staff were helpful in answering our questions while booking. The main detraction of Carnival is the quality of the food. I only ate at the upstairs buffet for one disappointing breakfast and two or three lunches but found the quality of the food there to be substandard and a little too much like mess hall dining. The dining room food in the Empire room was little better than mediocre by cruise standards--not in terms of cooking but in terms of food quality--it was a little like Marriott-Sodexo catering on the high seas and while we were fine with it, our expectations were for better. We were never impressed with any one of the meals to the point where we could say we really enjoyed it. But our wait staff were fun, and every evening in the dining room ended with a little "show" put on by the staff. Despite the disappointment over the food, we had a good time--Carnival may be a "fun" dining ship, but it is certainly not a fine dining ship.

Carnival Spirit staff perhaps four well trained, friendly, and interested in your special holiday. They are: Shaun Bussey, always smiling, happy and welcoming. Hernando, Cabin Stewards, efficient, interested in your stateroom cleanliness, restocking, and happy to be of service without being invasive. Imputu, waiting staff, happy willing and able to service your needs. Offshore Excursions Manager, knowledgeable, happy and able to service any needs.

We like getting a good value for our money and think Carnival delivers. This particular cruise was great because there were very few children or loud, obnoxious drunks. Michelle, the naturalist, was very informative. We were not expecting five star gourmet meals however the overall selections were very, very good. For people like me who tend to get seasick, this was a very gentle venue. Highly picturesque and almost impossible to believe how much time we spent on our balcony or topside looking through binoculars.

Our reason for this cruise firstly, the itinerary, then the ship's overall class. Does not compare to two cruises recently with Grand and Golden Princess in staff, food, menus, absolutely average in comparisons.
