12 Night Hawaii Northbound (Honolulu To Vancouver) Sail Date: April 28, 2006 Cabin Type: Balcony Traveled As: Couple Reviewed: 11 years ago
Our reason for this cruise firstly, the itinerary, then the ship's overall class. Does not compare to two cruises recently with Grand and Golden Princess in staff, food, menus, absolutely average in comparisons.
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
Food in general, badly cooked, badly catered, badly served in hurried state. The adage, get them in, get them fed, and get them out would be our opinion. At several stages of dining husband still eating his salad whilst staff wished to serve my main as I did not order salads. He advised they return with our main courses together, which therefore meant reheated for my main course. You could therefore construe enjoyment of meal secondary in staff's attitude.
3 out of 5
First four nights entertainment worthy of attending, fell away immensely thereafter. The saying of a captured audience due to the five days at sea would well and truly fit the performances following.

Great cabin steward, Hernando - can't express enough his brilliant service.
Kona Kayak Adventure. Fun and different for novice kayakers, though for snorkelling, to be tied together to jump in and snorkel inefficient, thought there should have been a platform for easy access in and out of water instead of navigating in and out of kayak which is very difficult even for experienced kayakers.
Don't Miss: Beautiful township for strolling and shopping.
Wonders of Haleakala. Waste of time. Bus broke down, held us up for 2&1/2 hours, then security so bad at port dock had to wait another 2&1/2 hours to tender back to ship. Did not give us opportunity to walk through pretty township. No one cared to admit fault of bus, security, ship and more than a few missed their main dining, badly handled by all in charge.
Don't Miss: Maui downhill 38 Mile super bike racer. Adrenalin rush am sure, but more worthy than Wonders of Haleakala
