Too Cold & Expected more by Amanda19

Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Just got back from this 7-day trip. My boyfriend and I had a great time overall. I do have to say that I'd probably wouldn't take a trip out of MD in the winter again because the first two days were very chilly. We didn't feel like the cruise planned enough stuff to do during the day since we were unable to sunbathe. On Monday, the cruise only had 1 evening activity planned at night so the comedy club was jammed packed with people and we couldn't see the show. We did get to see Comedy Shows on board other days and enjoyed Comedian Michael Macy. We enjoyed our day in Port Canaveral and recommend going to Cocoa Beach and checking out the Sandbar restaurant for delicious fish tacos. We loved our excursion to Atlantis when we got to Nassau. We wish that the boat got in earlier to Nassau though because we didn't get to Atlantis until 12pm. Freeport was a bust because the weather was crappy. And the day at sea on Saturday was boring and uneventful so we hit up the casino, which was fun. The food on board I'd give a 6 out of 10. I expected more options at the buffet. I felt we always had a choice between asian or italian. Definitely had higher expectations for food on board.

My First Cruise by BmoreCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My first cruise ever, on the Carnival Pride out of Baltimore to the Bahamas. We had a wonderful time. The ship was great and there was plenty to do. We were blessed with great weather, so you felt like you were in this great five star hotel with awesome ocean views. The staff on the ship was the best I have ever had in any vacation resort. And the Bahamas? Well if you have ever been there you know...awesome. I highly recommend snorkeling.

Loved the cruise, but I didn't think the entertainment was that exceptional....loved that you could choose own dining time. I would definately take another cruise out of the Baltimore Port.

Even though this was our first cruise and we have nothing to compare it to it was Outstanding, Awesome and VERY Relaxing. We had great weather the whole cruise. First the Staff on Carnival Pride was Outstanding. The food was Awesome. And the Entertainment was Great. We had early dining and the wait staff was Outstanding. We were treated like royality. We had a balcony room "awesome" very clean. David's Steakhouse is a must.(staff and food Outstanding) We got off the ship at each port. Port Canaveral we went to Cocoa Beach and Cocoa Village very nice and great price. Nassau and Freeport got off ship and walk in town very nice. We had a great time and very relaxing. I can't say enough about the wonderful time and staff we had. We've already booked another cruise on Carnival Pride.

Some staff were just great! by 123456

Pride has some really great stewards and waiters. The waiters that were the most efficient and friendly were the female ones. Food varied. Some really good, some just ok. Enjoyed the Art Auctions.

Carnival Pride to Bahamas by map

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The food was hit and miss. Some food so-so. Some food excellent. Most of the desserts were tasteles except for the chocolate melt away cake and the apple pie. We felt like we were fleeced of money when it came to the bar and drinks no matter if alcoholic or nonalcoholic drinks. It cost $42 for a nonalcoholic beverage pass for the week. They failed to tell us for just $5 you could get unlimited soda refills in a souvenir cup. All over 18 passengers in a cabin had to purchase the unlimited drink pass which costs about $350 per passenger. Not just one passenger in a cabin could purchase. Passengers found out later that the unlimited pass WAS limited to 15 drinks in a 24 hr period. Carnival is not forthcoming and is downright sneaky in terms of their bar charging and practices. The decor of the ship in areas reminded me of the hotel in The Shining. The large naked lady murals started to creep me out after 7 days. Now some positives. The service was excellent. Some of the food was excellent. The ship and our room were clean. The entertainment was good to excellent.

First time cruise experience by Webb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

My entire family had a wonderful time on our cruise. As first time cruisers we did not know what to expect and were happily surprised by the friendly personalities of all the crew, the cleanliness of the ship and the quality of food served during our evening dinner. We truly relaxed the entire time enjoying our family vacation and returned home feeling refreshed looking forward to our next cruise.

too much time in fl, not enough in bahamas by meggles2u

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

the cruise was nice. all of the staff were absolutely wonderful. so many reviews said food was terrible but all 6 of us thought it was great. definitely take the time to go to davids steakhouse. it is worth the $35 for sure! i did feel bored often bc there didn't seem to be enough activities on the ship during the down time and sea days, but a cruise is what you make of it. we definitely had way too much time in port canaveral and not nearly enough in the bahamas. we took it SO slow to get to florida, making it a two sea day trip down, but booked it back from freeport and only had one sea day with lots of turbulence (is it still turbulence when youre on the ocean? i dont know but you know what i mean!) :) nassau was nice but when we were done our excursion all of the shops were closed so we had not much choice but to go back to the ship. freeport was beautiful and we DEFINITELY did not have enough time there. not at all. the people of freeport were the nicest yet. we absolutely loved it there. if i can recommend ANYTHING to carnival, it would be to extend the time in port at freeport. the shows on ship were ok. the lead female singer was no very good and we all agreed on that. there was a man who did motown one night and he was great. the comedians were very good too. he picked on everyone in the front row so i felt bad for them but still laughed very hard. :) our room was a typical stateroom. we did have a balcony with an obstructed view but we rarely used it. its just nice to have as an option. waiting for the dining room on some nights was long bc we did the your time dining, but it was always worth the wait. our waiter, nandalall was awesome! food on deck 9 (lido) was very good as well, so you have very good options. we mainly did breakfast in our stateroom (continental type) and would venture up to lido deck for buffet, but never went to the dining room so i can say one way or the other for breakfast there. one complaint other than the times in port, is the pools were not both open at the same time so everyone had to cram into one pool. they opened the outdoor pool when it was freezing and had the indoor pool open when it was HOT (still in the bahamas). on the last day they opened the outdoor pool only and my husband said he thought it was to keep the families with kids inside spending money, which i have to agree that sounded like a good explanation. :/ all in all, i love cruising, no matter what. the ship is nice and teh staff is wonderful. food was great as well. :)

Nothing spectacular. by alvie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was my 6th cruise, first time on Carnival. The crew was extremely pleasant, the food great, especially the strawberry and cherry bisque. I don't drink alcoholic beverages, don't party nor gamble, so that was not what I was after. I like to explore the island when we port. My disappoint was that we spent to many days at sea and not enough time in the ports. Not real time to shop, play or explore. Many activities to keep you busy on the ship though.

first timer by PatC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

Overall it was a wonderful experience for my first cruise. I would have enjoy more time at the ports instead of the time at sea but of course that is how they make their money. Everyone was nice. David's Steakhouse was a great experience. WE happen to go the nite that was elegant dress and basically had the restaurant for ourselves and the food was fanastic. My only problem was the dining room. Once you assign a time you are stuck with it or end up dining on buffet. The other people at our table were disgusting and after two nites of watching them chew and then spit there food out in plain view we chose not to deal with it no longer. WE tried once to go later and the waiter had a attitude but never asked us if there was a problem so we just did the buffet for the rest of the cruise. Besides this we had a great time.

November cruise by ThereseR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

First of all, my impressions of the ship were that the decor was not to my taste, but that does not impede my enjoyment of the total experience. Just because the decor of a friend's house is not my style does not interfere with how I enjoy their company.

Good cruise for a good value! by DebbieG83110550

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean

Very clean ship, however, the decor needs a makeover. Very nice and helpful staff. Dining room food quality has improved greatly. Buffet food is your typical buffet food. Shows have improved also except for the comedy shows which were horrible. Loved the adult only pool area - like being in a resort.

Mixed feelings by JolenaM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The service was excellent. The cruise director, assistant director, waitstaff, our stateroom steward - everyone was so polite, professional and made us feel welcome. The service was great, but the inclement weather really brought us down (October 21-28, 2012-during hurricane Sandy). This was supposed to be our dream honeymoon - we paid for our entire wedding ourselves and spending so much on our honeymoon was an even bigger stretch but we convinced by family and friends that had cruised before to do it. It was a huge let down that two of three stops were cancelled, then on our one stop to Grand Turk our excursion was cancelled. Then rerouting to Florida was cancelled. Then shows and entertainment were cancelled. Then we had to come back a day early. It clearly wasn't any fault of Carnival, but we spent over $2000 (plus $600 on our Sail & Sign account) and I'm not sure we want to take that gamble again - even with 50% off a future cruise. Our "dream honeymoon" turned into the cruise to nowhere and wasn't the full experience we were expecting. Again, this wasn't the fault of Carnival Pride but we feel like adjustments should have been made to the entertainment available on board since the ports of call were cancelled. Understandably the dancing shows needed to be cancelled because there was such unpredictable movement on the ship but we feel like there really should have been a backup plan in place. We got extremely bored. You can only gamble so much and we'd already been to the gift shops a few times so we were frustrated there was nothing to do.
