Great Time by dawgeemom3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great time.  I was disappointed that the ship was not more decorated for Christmas, but when we sang Christmas songs and they made it snow, that kinda made up for it.  The food in the main dining room was not as good as our previous experiences, but you always had the choice of the Buffet.  Our cabin steward was awesome.  The cabin was always clean and ready for us to enjoy.  We were also disappointed that there was not a midnight buffet as there had been on all of our previous cruises.  All in all The Pride is a very lovely ship and we had a fun filled 7 days.  Everybody was friendly and really made us feel special.

Carnival has cut back on everything, even the toilet paper by abi33

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Very disappointing cruise.  We've cruised Carnival on 3 other occasions several years ago and were amazed at how much they've cut back on quality food (the dining room was terrible, as was the buffet),tiny protein portions, mushy veggies and very few salad offerings and ALWAYS IT CAME AND IT WAS BARELY WARM.  Their best food offerings were pizza and the sandwich deli, both in the buffet dining hall.  They've also cut out the midnight buffet

There are no more live bands for on-deck parties, or any live entertainers except for the Carnival dancers/singers and there is no live orchestra anymore for their stage performances.   The choreography for the Carnival dancers was sub par as well -- a 10 year old could have done better.   There is a comedy club and the performers there were really good but they don't perform every night.

We booked our first balcony room and loved it.  However the sheets were pretty thread-bare and the mattress hard as a rock.  It is the only cruise I been on where they didn't have foam egg-crate mattress pads to put on the bed to make it softer.  The kleenex in the room was rough and barely big enough to cover your nose.  The toilet paper was even rougher.   They had shampoo and bath gel but no lotion.  The hair dryer was a joke -- so glad I brought my own!  We have done 11 cruises, 4 on Carnival and we will not cruise with them again.  On the plus side, Richard, out stateroom attendant was wonderful.  David & Sara Wall

A great first cruise for my family by kmlisle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We experienced excellent service and had a lot of fun on this cruise with friends and family.  sea days were very relaxing and we had several excellent shore excursions.  The ones through were especially good: We went to the Mayan site Altun Ha in Belize and went snorkeling on the Barrier reef in Roatan.

The reason for 4 stars is that the ship did mess up on tendering when they did not get passengers off even though several tenders were waiting.  we lost at least an hour ashore at Belize - luckily our tour waited for us but it was stressful and seemed unnecessary since the gang plank was down and boats were waiting for passengers but our tender numbers were called an hour late (no numbers were called for almost an hour).  No idea what was happening. A staff member tried to tell us that there were no boats but we were sitting by a window and 4 tenders were waiting the whole time.

However our other service was excellent with great waiters in the dining room and room service was perfect.  Our room was very clean.  We also enjoyed the show, especially the piano bar and 88 keys.  The family comedy shows were also good with hilarious kids on the front rows that the comedians played right into. We did not stay up for the adult shows but heard they were standing room only.  Food was too good - we both gained weight.  The young people with us (20s-30s) also had a great time.

nice vacation by mikeandvickie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Every aspect was wonderful  ship, crew, food, ports, weather. I had an extended balcony that slept 4 people. plenty of closet space, my wife and I and our 19 year old son had plenty of room. We had a king bed with a fold down single from the ceiling. with a large sofa and overstuff chair. The only thing I would change is the way tips are added to everything cokes ,beer  room stewards. ,charge  this in the price of the room. I would also like to see the tips for the  excursions included in the price of the excursion ,when  you pay 99.00 per person for excursions you need to figure a tip for the tender, bus, drivers and tour guides also. I would personally prefer to  pay one price and not be asked for a tip  every time. But this is more a preference on my part than a complaint. I took a cruise to Bermuda 6 years ago the first one ever on a different carrier and I swore I would never take another one again , but my son wore me down  and I agreed and I am glad I did a complete 180 in opinions on taking a cruise. I would highly recommend this exact cruise to anyone.

Problems I seen on this ship. by nersbev

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was out dated.  It needs to go in the yards for an update.  The water tasted off.  Items on the walls have been broken and the repair was not up to standards that I have set for you cruise lines.  The colors on the walls and overhead were dark and made the ship very dark.

Very good cruise - excellent value by artmeneian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a very good cruise with excellent ports of call, terrific staff and delicious meals.  Expensive meats like prime rib, lamb and lobster was on the menu.  The ship is great with lots of activities and lots of quiet places if you just want to curl up with a book.

The only thing that soured me was that they allow smoking in the casino, and the place stinks of smoke.  As a result I did not spend any time at the casino.

Enjoyable by lwotony

The shows were great. The food was very good. The ports and excursions were beautiful.

The staterooms were very nice and housekeeping kept them clean.

Outside of a long wait to get on the boat we did not have to deal with long lines.

2 weeks on cruise, very restful vacation until disembarkment from hell. by travelntillman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Nice cruise, even with bad weather on first week.  ship left 6 hrs late, no problem as we were on ship.  credit per room not correct on accounts.  cruise wouldnt put on.  we were not set at same table for dinner.  had to fix ourselves.  disembarkement was most disorganized I have ever seen.  left ship at 12:30 for 12:45 flight.  spent all day in Baltimore, where we were sent to avoid buying new ticket.  got home midnight insted of 5 pm.  people with early flights who had zeroed out account should be allowed to leave.  Was good to have room near   brother.  i will probably take my chances with agent with next cruise.  didnt seem to be much  benefit besides close room.   I basically enjoyed cruise.  but i am always glad to be on water.  I have been on over 50 cruises, and was disapointed with things I had to do that were supposed to be done by agent.  maybe it wasnt his fault.

Worst cruise ever by pgiroma

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Boarding process went smoothly, and our cabin was ready as we boarded.  This was the high point of this cruise.  Our cabin steward was also very good and efficient.  The cruise Director was the worst we have encountered in our 400+ days of cruising on multiple lines.  He insisted on volume levels that caused several of the more mature group, such as us, to walk out of shows.  He kept insisting that the sound man "turn up the volume".  All entertainment was directed at the "20 something" groups.  While our fixed late seating dining staff was exceptional, the service at open seating breakfast and brunch was awful.  Orders were incomplete, coffee refills were difficult, and one assistant waiter stated that bananas were only available on port days, while people in our party who ate at the buffet were served them without delay. Shipboard activities were often in error in the daily "FUN TIMES", and said we would arrive in Cozumel at 9am, when we were actually docking in Costa Maya.  Disembarkation was a disaster, after arriving several hours late, we were held aboard for an additional 2+ hours.  No more Carnival for us.

Carnival Pride Cruise Rich & Carol Rooney by rrooney8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The room assignment was directly under the Lido deck kitchen which is active 24 hrs. a day. Difficult to sleep as service carts roll over your head. The evening entertainment shows  had to be re-shown to compensate for the bad weather which caused us to miss two of the port stops. Woefully inadequate. On board activities was limited to trivia games!! The food was good. the staff service was good. But I believe I will not be cruising with Carnival for some time to come.

Family Thanksgiving by karonmc

Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had 6 family members and 3 cabins and all had a wonderful time. The Pride is a beautiful ship and everyone goes out of there way to make you happy.  We missed 2 ports because of weather but had an extra fun sea day which we older people enjoyed and made port  at another island to make up for missing the scheduled one.  Everyone tried different foods and added some new favorites to our food list.  The only negative was waiting 1 1/2 hours for wheelchairs to get to older family members on the ship.  The handicap deportation went very smooth.  I've sailed many times on many lines and the Pride is my new favorite.

My husband and I were very pleased with our cruise. From the smooth check in until we disembarked. The service was excellent, the dining room was always pleasant and the entertainment was very good. We have already checked into another cruise and we haven't been home a week. We would highly recommend this cruise line.    Thank you

review of recent Carnival Pride trip by ckudlak

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have had problems receiving our on board credit of $25 per passenger as promised.  It did not appear on our Carnival bill and they knew nothing about it.  Booking help good; follow up good.  Ship not so much.  Food not as good as previous trips.  Air conditioner in room did not work.

It really is more fun on Carnival by skluck1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Dancing waiters,   hammocks, and excellent pizza and hamburgers! The staff seems to try just a little harder and Carnival Pride has recently undergone a Reno so we were very pleased by the décor and our room. We also thought we had more storage space. The ports are great beach destinations with excellent swimming and snorkeling opportunities.
