LEGENDary Ship and Vacation by PaulaJPA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Sailing out of Tampa, FL was very easy particulary if you stay on Harbour Island where you can actually walk easily to the Carnival cruise terminal.  The port of Tampa is very nice and we enjoyed our time pre and post cruise.  The ship is a spirit class which we've sailed on before.  Can't say enough good things about the staff, accommodations, dinner and the shows/events on board.  The water slide was only a month old and is state-of-the-art fun!  The kids club is also good if you take advantage of it.  Our entire family had a great time.

Everything was great, staff is awesome by columbusohsam

There is something for everyone, no matter the person.  The staff was always so friendly and helpful.  Especially our room staff, Nelson and his co-worker.  They were the best.  They were always making sure everything was cleaned up and always willing to help out

Our honeymoon! by vicwynn91

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Legend was absolutely beautiful and very well taken care. The staff and crew were always helpful, curteous and wanted to interact with the guests. The only thing I would change would be the smoking areas - the designated smoking area on the Lido deck is right next to the family pool where children are play and not in the 21 and over section on the deck. My husband and I felt uncomfortable smoking around children so we just went to our balcony instead. Other than that I have no compliants excpet that there is no time to see and do everything! Loved it, will be crusing with Carnival again!

Great Itinerary, service by all and professional treatment. by csmruss

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

First, let me say that the entire staff on the ship and in the terminal were fantastic, efficient, caring and professional.  I cannot say enough about the great way I was treated.  Second, the itinerary for this cruise was great as well due to the variety of excursions offered or to just stay in the interesting dock areas.  Each country offered something different.  Lots of opportunities to relax or be as active as you wish.  Third, the service onboard was excellent and the food quality and variety was amazing.

I have been on other ships before and I would point out one issue.  If your a light sleeper like me there is a problem, the ship at certain speeds vibrates even on the 8th deck where I was and it so pronounced that I could not sleep.  Three crew members I asked about it said that it was the same in their quarters.  I still enjoyed the trip but I will not go on that ship again and I had considered the 25 day cruise to Australia.  I will sail on another ship.

What a disappointment by antro2002

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We upgraded to a balcony but could not use it due to the number of smokers on board.  Food was sub-par at best.  Photographers were very aggressive.  There were a surprising amount of up sells.  The time spent at each country was entirely too short.

Great Cruise by gillroningroup

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my 3rd Carnival cruise. I had a great time. It was my kids first cruise and they had a blast. One thing was, Our toilet stopped working 3 times. Not from any....solids in it. I had a dive scheduled for Belize. I brought my own gear. I paid the baggage fees of $35 each way. Then at 8:30pm the night before the dive, I get a notice that my dive is cancelled due to not enough sign ups. They left me no other options and my kids excursion was full. So there was nothing to do. I really felt like the excursion desk should have given earlier notice and offered other options. Other than this, the cruise was awesome. The food and service were great.

My Dream Vacation... Fulfilled by queenie200029

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I had such a wonderful time on this cruise of my dreams with my husband.  I have wanted to cruise to Cozumel, Belize, Roatan and the Cayman Islands for several years now.  Service was excellent, food was phenomenal,, especially the nite we had Tiramiso for dessert.  I had no idea how large a portion was and ordered 2.. Well, I kinda bit off more than I could chew, but it was delicious, and I enjoyed every single bite.  The Tour director, Willie, was a "Piece of Work" along with another cruise partner who did the Karioke several nites during the trip.. I had the time of my life up on the top deck with the Mexican themed entertainment, Limbo Rock, and all kinds of activities that nite.  The tours that I booked thru Carnival in Cozumel at Chankanaab Park were so enjoyable. What a beautiful beach and snorkel area. I will also say the museum of Discover Mexico was great too.  I believe I booked the Cayman Islands tour, where we went to the Turtle Farm, Dolphin area, and saw "Hell"   That was such an amazing and unbelievable sight to see. I couldnt imagine how that place came to be, but after reading some literature and talking to others, I understood how its formation came about. While on the cruise, we also went EcoSuspension Bridge and the Zip Line Tour.. That was one head rush I will never forget either, makes me want to go ZipLining again,, but nothing will compare to our experience.  I was scared to death at first, but after the first 2 or 3, it was "smooth sailing" or should I say FLYING..  What an experience.. WOW.. I hated to think of having to come back to reality from such a wonderful Crusing experience.. I look forward to sailing again in the future hopefully the Eastern Caribbean to include the Virgin Islands etc.  One other place I would like to go is to Alaska, but my age may be a determining factor and how well I can get around.

I encourage everyone to take the Carnival Experience to the Western Caribbean Islands.. Take in the Mayan ruins, which is interesting in itself.  That was one goal that I completed in Belize.. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and would do it again in a heartbeat. Thanks so much for such an awesome cruiseWink

Fun without the fog by johanneemtp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Other than the late start due to fog and all the confusion, it was a good cruise. The weather was perfect. Our room attendant and waiter Carlos from Jamaica were wonderful. The lounge singers were a big disappointment this cruise. The bingo woman was HORRIBLE. We could only go to 2 sessions and wanted to leave within 5 minutes.

We tried to enjoy our balcony most of the time but were not happy that we were smoked out by cigar and cigarettes CONTINUOUSLY. Also, chairs being scooted after midnight and 4am cleaning. We know better that to be under the Lido deck again.

Great dive cruise by Kitch

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I Chose this cruise as it goes to 4 of the best dive sites and I was not disappointed.

All dives were shore excursions and you are assured to return to the ship before it sails.

I will go again

Weather was great by HermanBarbara

Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Carnival just seems poorly managed. They can't even get coffee in the morning. Lines for everything because of thoughtlessness.

Singers were just not that good. At best couldn't make it on shore.  TC in the piano bar was at least entertaining.  Angie was loud. Teeples are good musicians, but need a singer. Having been on another Carnival Cruise recently, I see that they've come up with a formula -- these are the songs you will sing. If someone requests something else, you don't know it. They're all the same, generically not bad, but no feeling anywhere. If you sing a John Maier song and a Carly Simon song, they have to sound the same. Your Willie Nelson song would have to feel like your Abba song.

On the other hand the "shows" were very good. Although the director seemed to confuse "epic" with "Queen". If you had to come up with a set of "epic" rock songs for a 30 minute show, would three of them be Queen?

Room was nice (balcony). But air conditioning was impossible to control. We kept the balcony door open most of the time because it was too cold. Didn't bother us, except when the wind picked up.

The best of times the.....of times by kfbradfield

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was an excellent experience. Carnival is the master of service and comfort. One port of call was the best day and the worst. That was Belize City. There was a 25 minute tender ride from the Carnival Legend to the port. After landing we made our way through the requisite retail mall to the street. Our plan was to take a water taxi to Caulker Cay; a 45 minute boat ride. When we reached the street we were descended upon by some very aggressive taxi drivers that insisted that they drive us a half block to the Sugar Market where we secured our fares for the water taxi. After running the driver's gauntlet we boarded the water taxi to Caulker Cay. We had a marvellous day snorkeling on the reef thanks to our guide, Mario. If you take the trip to Caulker Cay make sure to check your time. An hour and a half on the water taxi then almost an hour on the tender will seriously deplete your available time in port. The country of Belize and its' islands are lovely; Belize City is not.

Carnival Legend Feb.23-March 2 by nointerested

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Enjoyed excursions very much.  Great staff. Our room attendant Ferry was great.  We had anytime dining and had great waiters (Marco and YZ) and enjoyed the option of sitting along or with other couples.  Got to meet some nice people that way.  Food was below average compared to other cruises I have been on and coffee was cold at dinner more that once.  Booked 2 excursions with cruise.com and they were great although inconvenient getting to them as they were not allowed in the normal area.  The zip lining in Honduras was great.  Carla was our driver and she was great as were the guys who hooked us up and helped us maneuver the 11 different zip lines.  The Horseback riding in Grand Cayman was also great and that was also booked with cruise.com.  In fact, we were worried about getting back to the ship on time so our guide actually drove us back personally.  I considered that above and beyond the call of duty.

Good cruise experience, highly recommend this line by simplycruising

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Good food but not as much variety as on Dream 1/2013, outstanding customer service especially Jeson and assistants (dining room) who provided fast and accurate service plus a few extras, Hareesh (omlet chef) who was efficient and very funny, Jose (room attendant) who was always friendly and attentive. Was a pleasure to meet and become friends with Sasa (dining room). First steak house meal was so good that we returned a second night. Did not enjoy illusionist (not much illusion, mostly dancing, PAINFULLY LOUD) and freakout circus show (boring). "Big Easy" was so good and filled with such amazing talent we could have watched several times. Disappointed in change of itinerary from Belize to Grand Cayman.

3rd and Out by bruisedcruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My wife and I have been on this ship twice previously, the last in April'13 crossing the Atlantic. There won't be a fourth. This is why. On the way to our cabin a big Slavic sounding/appearing male moving luggage got into a verbal altercation with another staff person moving their carts around a corner. We requested a single table but were assigned to a rectangular-shaped table for 10. Food sevice was consistently slow, prohibiting our attendance at the 7:00 pm show. After twice returning soup and entrees for being cold I finally gave up and left them. We ordered a simple breakfast for two in our cabin and received multiple creamers and four table settings - with luke-warm coffee. It took three days to have the glasses replaced in the cabin. The first night's show was very good; the portions of the others we took in were stale. The sales people. photos and jewelry, on the way to dinner every night were almost as aggressive as the Mexicans on shore. When we disembarked, our luggage was misplaced. As 70 year olds, we weren't up to fighting with hordes of others similarly searching. The ship was clean, staff pleasant and ports enjoyable. The problems were too much.

BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE by AOKCRUISECREW

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

BEAUTIFULLY APPOINTED SHIP. MY WIFE IS HANDICAPPED. CARNIVAL PERSONNEL COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE ACCOMADATING.GOOD CHOICE OF PORTS OF CALL, ALTHOUGH ACCESS TO TOWN IN COZEMEL IS A BIT OF A CHALLENGE. FOOD WAS ABOVE AVERAGE. DINING ROOM, & CABIN PERSONNEL WERE EXCELLENT. I SAILED WITH CARNIVAL, ON THEIR FIRST SHIP, THE MARDI GRAS IN THE EARLY 80'S. HAVE BEEN TO ALASKA WITH THEM, & THE CARRIBEAN SEVERAL TIMES. HONESTLY, I HAVE ALSO SAILED WITH 3 OTHER CRUISE LINES.     HOWEVER, MY FAMILY, & I WILL NEVER HESITATE TO BOOK ANOTHER CRUISE WITH CARNIVAL. EXCELLENT VALUE, & A GREAT TIME WAS HAD BY ALL!

The end of a "LEGEND" by lpterr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We cruised on the Carnival Legend out of Tampa to the Western Caribbean in January 2014. Of course, we had a fabulous time as we all make our own fun on a cruise ship. The cruise director, Willie, was a hoot. Courtney, Mike, Michael and many other staff members were exceptional!

Our dining crew, Gerardo, Cezar & Gede were among the best. We were the final voyage of the Legend as she is headed in for a major face-lift.

Then she will be off to Australia in the future. Food was OK and we docked 6 hours late but still had a blast!!

Personal experience by Jtholidaygoer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Legend / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise went as expected except for the poor intertainment on the first and last night . The number of photographers on board seemed tobe excessive and became a bit of a pest.

The last day was spoiled by the extremely long queue in the theater to get the US officials to stamp our passports.
