Carnival is always OK by jpiersol

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

With Carnival, you get what you pay for. It was what we expected. Below average service in the buffet and lines around the ship but the dining room was nice. Food was average. Cruise director Emerson (Dr E) however was one of the best we have ever seen in 27 cruises. If you want elegant, great food, awesome service, I would not do this cruise. If you want Ok, it is for you.

No Longer "The Funship" by kvanbo24

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have taken about 14 cruises with Carnival.  Obviously, we have felt that it was a good value for the money.  This cruise, however, was a bit of a letdown.  They have really cut corners with regard to things to do on the ship, as well as cutting staff.  The staff is still very friendly and helpful, but they are many times overwhelmed and can no longer meet the same high standards of service.  It is not the staff's fault. The daily itinerary was boring and most people were just sitting around all day.  They have changed the quality of their shows and bands.  A production show in the evening had only 7 people with marginal talents.  Most of the bars remained closed the entire 7 days.  The layout of this ship and the décor was the worst of any ship we have been on.  The stateroom hallways were constantly littered with room-service dishes and laundry.  Sadly, we have decided that it may be time  to stick with some of the other cruise lines.  We have had very good experiences with Royal Caribbean and with Princess.  I guess it's true that "you get what you pay for."

After crusing on several other Cruise lines I was disapointed by the lack of a Happy Hour. The food at the burger bar, deli and pizza stand were outstanding. The crew on the ship were very attentive and pleasent

Carnival Cruise, Glory by tellergirl43506

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

LoveI really enjoyed the cruise. The food was super. The only thing that bothered me was when you had to go through the casino to get to other places was that the smoke was strong smelling and that the one hot tub that I was in was cold!  The service was great and so was the entertainment.

We had a great time. It was better than I expected the staff and food were great! The port of call in Half Moon Clay was the best beach I've ever been to. St. Thomas was very beautiful and if your in for an excursion do Magic Ice the largest Ice bar in the world good times!

Category 1 is fine by wernickejc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We usually have been upgraded to an upper deck but this time we decided to try deck 1 and actually found it was better.  There was easy access to the excursions, dining and embarkment was a snap. We felt that the cruise cruise was a good value but the food was pretty average.

WORSE CRUISE I EVER!!!!!!!! by nadiaGee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The customer service in Customer service was horrible! The room was dated and smelly like mold. The bathroom shower kept over flooding in the  bathroom because it needed to be snaked. The TV had to be repaired. The menu button for on demand didn't work the entire cruise. They  fixed it the 6th night on board at the end of the cruise. Customer service kept freezing our account room card when ever the card reached a certain amount. Whenever we tried to pay more 2 times when we first got on board the would say were all set. The endless soda bubble card was never explained correctly on how to use it. I WAS SCREAMED AT...! because I wanted to take the can back to our room and with the sticker you could only do Fountain drinks. The food at the all the Buffet through out the whole day was garbage! Only sit down dinner was ok. The entertainment at night the shows were poor quality. Not good at all. Punch line comedy shows were ok. The boat was rocky and I felt sick for the 2 days at sea.... This was truly disappointing. I been on Carnival before and I use to be a spokes person for Carnival. But not any more!

Beautiful ship by martin8326

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Glory is a beautiful ship.  The staff was great and the ports were wonderful.  The food in the dining room was very good.  We had heard some bad reports concerning the new "American Table" style, but we have nothing but good things to say.  I can do without a table cloth and enjoyed having the water and bread left on the table all the time.   It is nice that on elegant nights they do things the old way.   I incuded the pictures of our room.  This is one thing we love about Carnival,  the size of the rooms.  This is an Ocean view on the Riviera Deck (Rm 1292).  It is very spacious.  (220 sq ft)  Would choose this ship and room again.

Staff was great!! by lainielw

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our room and dining staff were excellent! One of our dinner table mates ate at another table one evening. They reported that staff 'Tiger' was so much better than this other; they were very surprized. Two of the three excursions we did (Belize - Zipline and Crystal Cave Rafting, Grand Cayman - Barrier Reef Snorkeling) were wonderful. I would not do the Honduras - BOSS Adventure again. At nighttime there was only one dance bar (White Heat). There was music played in other areas of the ship. White Heat played a mix of 80's, 90's and current music from 11pm - 12am. After that it was all current. I'm 56 and can only stand the new music so long. So I went to bed about midnight and the ship lost out on my drinking any longer.

great ship by joetrippy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Carnival Glory is a beautiful, clean well maintained ship in the fleet. Highlights are Guys Burger Joint!

Entertainment was excellent but shows were not every night leaving some nights thin on activities. The comedy club both "family" oriented and adults only were excellent yet again not every night.

The Glory crew (like all Carnival ships we have cruised) go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. Starting from check in to debarkation; crew members call us by name. Room stewards and dining room staff always greeted us by name and adressed any requests

The entertainment was somewhat lacking from past cruises on Carnival and other lines. The Western Caribbean itinerary includes Belize and Roatan as well as Cozumel and Cayman.

Belize is a difficult tender port with a 20 minute (in smooth water) tender each way. As for the port...the terminal area is quite nice with the usual variety of diamond stores, restaurants and T-shirt shops. Outside of the terminal...proceed at your own risk.

Roatan is a beautiful plush hilly island. Aside from this plush tropical appearance...poverty abound.

These 2 ports are worth....enjoying the day on the ship while others explore the ports.

Cozumel and Cayman are always fun ports with activities provided by the cruise line or other sources.

We would cruise this ship again....with the eastern itinerary.

Mediocre Service and food by vaughnashlie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Well I really wanted to like this cruise considering it was my first one. My GF did nothing but rave about cruises since has been on several but not recently in the past 8 years. we both decided on Carnival because I know that had a run of bad luck really thought with all the bad press they have been having that they would really step up their game with the service. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

So to begin, We went though security and dropped off our luggage and wanted to check out the ship and our room. At near 230 pm in the afternoon the room was not ready. No biggie I thought so I roamed the ship. Just about 15 Minutes from leaving the port I get a called over the loudspeakers to return to security.  I was unsure of why but proceeded to the main security door where we first checked out luggage. The Security person proceeded to ask if had any knives or anything in my bag and it dawned on me that I totally forgot that I packed that knife in my bag. I am one of those people who like to be prepared for anything and I had packed a pocket knife in my checked luggage. After giving up the knife the security person told me that I had to take my own bag on to the ship. Keep in mind my bag weighed near 50 lbs. On top of that My GF was also called down to security as well but for no reason. her bags weren't there and Security was oblivious. We got our bags about 30 Mins after we left Port.

After all that the I have always been told that the food on cruises were amazing or at least something to write home about but sadly I was disappointed here as well. The most consistent food on the ship was the Pizza and that was greasy too. The afternoon and breakfast buffets were probably the best food on the ship in general. The dining room menu seemed very good but lacked consistency and flavor or that the food sat in the window for too long and died. It seemed like a lot of the food was prepared in bulk rather than to order and making sure the food was fresh. To be honest I felt like Gordon Ramsey on Kitchen Nightmares.

The excursions off the ship were awesome! The guides themselves were great and very knowledgeable of the surrounding area. totally recommend the swimming with stingrays and also the paddle boarding in San Juan. The comedy acts on the ship were great and so was the Piano bar in the ship. A couple people that I would like to point out was "Z" in the casino bar was awesome began using my name and establishing a connection with my GF and I. Can't remember the name of the server in the Piano bar. Taller guy, Caucasian, Brown hair. really nice guy and very attentive. Lastly, Maung our room steward was awesome!!! Always cheerful and always addressed us by name. KUDOS to the three of them!!! Because without them I would have jumped off the ship. Aside from these all stars the service was mediocre. I mean seriously 20 minutes for a drink is ridiculous! Considering the first day I was just drinking Johnny Walker black neat. Now, I would go on another cruise that is for sure but I would definitely not go back on Carnival.

Great time and very friendly staff. by designsbydee810

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Dr. E the cruise director was everything you could ask for in the person leading the fun, with a  great personality who really enjoyed his job, he made people laugh and enjoy their time on the ship. Our wait staff for our early dinning were more than great. Tony, Benjamain. and Iwayan made our meals memorable.  I wish I could remember the name of our state room attendant, she was the best we have ever had on any cruise.  I do wish the ship had more variety, clothing and nice articles for sale. They had the usual "sales" on a specific day and time for watches and jewelry but the selection is small and always the same. The candy shop would be better off if it sold chocolate candies and perhaps caramel apples, nuts and special cookies. We didn't see anything we wanted and I have a big sweet tooth.  The entertainment was okay. The singers and dancers were good but three shows of just the same people? We would have liked to have more variety.  The comedy was good.  To fit everyone in to see it, maybe it should have been shown on the main stage. I remember when Bingo used to be fun and a big production. It was very rushed with just a simple line for the win. The $3000 bingo was not explained until AFTER all the cards were purchased, we felt somewhat cheated. A ball was drawn and IF you get a bingo on that exact number when called, then you win. They had us use the same bingo card for two games. The problem with that was the advantage or disadvantage you had for the first game carried onto the next game. It felt like the cast was just too lazy to start over or too cheap to give us a new card for that game.   These are small problems and as a whole we liked the ship, crew, and the ports were wonderful. Well worth the price.

Great ship, crew and chef by jrocmc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our best Carnival Cruise.....The ship was spotless, the crew happy and attentive.

We attended the "Chef's table" would recommend to everyone.  Gives you a sense of what it takes to feed 4,000 guests and cruise 3 meals each day!

Noticed cut backs, but the excursions were excellent! by derrickgee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The service on board the Glory was impeccable. When I say we noticed cut backs, it was in the food and entertainment categories.  The food was excellent, but smaller portions were very noticeable at dinner (I regularly eat smaller portions, so someone with a bigger appetite may not be satisfied with the serving sizes, albeit you can have as much as you want).  The entertainment was a huge disappointment. There were only 2 shows (one I missed, and apparently that was the only good one for the whole week).  It was very boring in the evenings with nothing to do if you don't do the casino scene.  The comedians were just ok and the magician was horrible. People left in droves throughout the magician's entire show.

The good news...the excursions were beyond excellent.  My family all did the Extreme Zip Lining through the rainforest in St. Thomas.  If you're a fanatic zip liner, then this may seem like an easy course for you. But 3 out of 4 of us were first timers and loved it. The 4th one is more experienced but still enjoyed it very much.  The guides were the best and we all felt very safe. I highly recommend using Extreme Zip Lining for a fun, and most scenic view of St. Thomas from the tree canopies.  Then, in Grand Turk, we did ATV'ing.  Another grand day of fun. We could drive our own ATV at a fast speed throughout the 2 hour tour of Grand Turk. We stopped briefly along the way to see special highlights of the tour including the ocean beach. Many places to see and a fun way of seeing them.  I highly recommend this tour while visiting Grand Turk.

Over all, very good by bigmikedeal

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This being our first cruise, there were many surprises.  Most all were positive.  Only one real negative. When boarding, they had a DJ playing music in the Lobby, where we were trying to buy our drink packages.  They were playing so incredibly LOUD, that the bartender could not hear us.  We had to write down what we wanted.  I do admit, I have never been a big fan of LOUD music, but this was over the top.  On the plus sides, the on shore excursions provided by Carnival, seemed to be over priced.  We booked four different ones with this website, and were extremely happy with the cost and services provided.  After talking with some of the other cruisers, we found out we got a much better excursion and cheaper too.  We also to the behind the scenes tour of the ship.  While a bit expensive at $95 person, it was well worth it.  Would highly recommend this tour, but do it only once. The dining room staff and room staff were beyond exceptional.  We also had massages in the spa.  These were very nice, but very over priced.  And the up-sells were a bit too much.  Would not take no for an answer. The spa staff was was very pushing trying to up-sell their products.  All in all, a cruise we would do again.

The good and the bad by smwaries

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Price This ship does not serve Mongolian Wok at lunch time which I am use to on other Carnival Ships. For the most part dinner choices were very good and diversified. I did get ill the last nite of the cruise shortly after dinner. The MD on board checked me out and gave me medicine which helped a great deal at no charge to me. This ship is trying out a new idea called American style dining. No Silver, China or tablecloths in main dining room. The two formal nights they did use tablecloths, Stainless steel (much less than normal), and plain heavy white plates. In other words much less formal than I am use to. These changes probably saves $ and since more and more people especially men actually come to dinner in shorts, I guess they felt whats the point of formality? Almost no amenities in bathroom.....only toothpaste packets. Ship was very clean. Entertainment was not very good and was repeated so only 4 shows a couple of which included audience participation. Price was right and I guess you get what you pay for. I would not choose the Glory in the future.

Was a nice trip by vissoli

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

In general we had a great time,

The staff were amazing.

Our dining crew were AMAZING at the Platinum restaurant,

Arpatia, yusuf, kumara, Nylson, and Carla, were the nicest, and were real exceptional. I never received such a great service.

Few things I would change, Belize was totally a waste of time, none of my group liked it.

Thy fact that there was no clock in the room , was very uncomfortable.
