Past cruises on the Miracle, Liberty, and others were good. Standards have gone WAY DOWN. Entertainment Sucked! Piano Bar Guy Sucked, Food Yep-sucked, Ship was in a storm and listed to a point glasses fell off the shelf- Yep Sucked. One and only Good thing was the Head Waiter Royce- He was good but the meals made it really hard for him to be remembered as being good. I will not be going back to Carnival- Hello Norwegian or others.

I was pleasantly surprised on the great food and service we received on this Carnival cruise. I had heard the above mentioned was not very good but my husband and I would definately cruise with Carnival again. Our interior room was modern, very clean and had all the amenities we needed. Our stateroom attendant was very good and took care of all our needs in a timely manner. We loved the show called Epic Rock and the adult only area on top of ship was fabulous! Our waiters for dinner did a wonderful job serving us the lobster, prime rib, etc. Our bill at the end of the cruise was accurate and we disembarked very easily from the ship. We would recommend buying the Carnival travel voucher for easy access from airport to ship and back. We did not have to wait in any long lines and just boarded the ship. It cost $16.50 per person each way and very worth it.

Carnival Glory - 4 Day - Western Caribbean by sparky9016

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my third cruise on Carnival, and my least favorite.  It was just okay.  We were on a 4 day cruise from Miami, stopping in Key West, and Cozumel.  I don't know if it was the time of year, or the ship, or what exactly, but it felt extremely crowded all the time, everywhere on the ship.  It was exceedingly difficult to get served for drinks, which I've not experienced prior to this.  I felt like most employees were overworked, and too busy to bother with us.  So, in that respect, I'm not really blaming the staff as much as Carnival, who I assume has just made too many cuts.  It's causing their service to fall by the wayside.

I mostly liked the changes to the dining, meaning the change to the American Table.  Although, on our sailing, I found it strange that on the one elegant night, the dinner options were very strange (braised rabbit, lamb chops, veal etc).  Normally you have options like lobster and prime rib, but on this sailing there was literally nothing that any of the four of us in our party wanted to eat.  So we decided to try the steakhouse.  This experience was excellent.  The food was wonderful, and the service was top notch.  I definitely recommend the steakhouse.  The team that served us in the dining room during dinners was also an exception to the service difficulties we experienced on the ship.  Elizabeth and her team were outstanding, and provided some of the best service we experienced on the trip.  She even saw us outside of dinner one time and recognized us and called us out by name.  I don't know how they do that but it is always impressive to me.  :)

Our room was an inside cabin on deck 1.  It was to be ready by 1:30, but wasn't until closer to 3pm.  Our room steward wasn't overly attentive, he was fine, but nothing special.  This is also the first time I've stayed in an inside room, and the lowest on the ship I've ever been.  I didn't like how far I had to travel to everything all the time, but that is my own fault for choosing that room.  This sailing was the rockiest I've ever been on.  It was extremely windy the entire time, and stormy some other times.  At one point the ship tilted so far that glasses and bottles were falling off of surfaces and breaking.  The room and bed we had was set up in a way that when the ship rocked, it rocked you from head to toe, rather than side to side.  That was odd also.

All in all, it was just okay.  I think we are ready to try another cruise line.  Even if we have to pay more.  I feel like the service on Carnival is really going downhill, and even calling it a cheaper option than other lines, it is still a good chunk of change.  So in my opinion, there are better options.

Great experience! by Chago46

Memorable cruise, indeed! First, we were impressed with the smooth embarking procedure and professionalism of the agent/s at the counter. The available activities were presented to us the night before in a well prepared pamphlet. The room was kept immaculate by a friendly crew. The view from the balcony was outstanding; our relaxing time there was priceless. The Latin Dance shows were out of this world. The food? Oh, my! The variety of each delicious meals and snacks were more than 5 Stars. The restaurants and those who served us proved to be efficient and welcoming.

We would suggest an improvement in helping the guests to waste less time finding the places to go/move around.

In overall, we can't wait for our next vacation on board of another cruise. :)

The staff was over the top friendly, I loved the towel animals every night, and there was so much to do! Almost too much, I didn't get to do everything I wanted! I would do this exact cruise 10 times in a row. I'm so sad to be home! Everything about this was absolutely perfect! It was my first cruise and definitely not my last!

They should have called this the "Maintenance Crusie" by jjv

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was my 5th cruise.  The second with Carnival.  I've never had such a bad experience as this.  From day one it was a disappointment.  The room was "ready" but it had not been vacuumed nor had the toilet been cleaned.  The buffet was half empty and the walls and dining area had many smears of dirt not cleaned since the last cruise.  The Lido pool was closed "being painted".  The upper deck whirlpools were never open during the whole cruise, except one whirlpool for 4 hours for one day,  due to maintenance.  They were sanding the deck there as well.  The the aft pool looked so dirty, you could not see the persons body while he swam in it.  That early evening, the aft whirlpools were closed for chlorination.  Then they were closed again...with 5 guys standing around just talking on phones.  We tried to putt putt golf the next day but was closed due to "washing".  All of these tasks should have been done later in the day or at night so that the paying customers could enjoy it, but no.  The last sea day both pools were closed as well.  The slide was only open twice the whole cruise.  When we complained about the situation, they explained that whirlpools, pools and such were not a guaranteed product of the ship.  Really?  All the pictures they show are of people frolicking in the pools and spas.  Also we asked for anytime dining and was given the late dining which made us miss 3 shows due to the slow service.  Two and a half hours to dine?  That was also not guaranteed.  Although, it was not a big loss as the shows were terrible.

Spring break cruise by kimberlykramer

Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Nice itinerary, but the ship is dated, food is adequate and the entertainment is weak.  We enjoyed the ports of call, but missed one because someone fell overboard and we had to return to the site and search for him.  Carnival Breeze that we took last year was a much better ship, with better entertainment.

NO SLEEP IN THE BACK OF THE SHIP by mgreen922

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My wife and I were in cabin 2468 (In the back of the ship). The rumbling noise and vibrations were so bad we could not sleep. When we complained we were given a 20% refund and a voucher for 15% off our next cruise. The worst part was we were assigned this cabin for a back to back. When we said we wanted off after one week ,we were told if we got off we would receive no refund, but if we stayed on for the second week we would be #1 on the cancellation list and there are "almost always" cancellations. We were not told that there were no cancellations until we had left the dock so we were stuck in the same cabin for another week. This was our 14th and 15th cruise and I think we are the last people to learn this lesson the hard way. 80% fare for a cabin that you can only sleep in during the day while in port is not a relaxing vacation. Carnival should be up front about these cabins and stop acting like it is a surprise every week.

Cold Relief by kendawn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our 3rd time on the Glory and the 2nd time doing the Western Caribbean. The weather was almost perfect this time and we did some different shore excursions. The time on the ship was excellent as and the service by the crew perfect! We enjoyed the Punch Liner comedy club several nights as well as the variety shows in the Amber Palace. We also ate at the Steak House to one of the most fabulous meal experiences on earth. The service and food are the best in the world. The boarding process was great as we got out clearance and card at the airport before arriving at the dock. The debarkation was a bit of a mess. We weren't happy with it at all. None the less the cruise was great and I would recommend Carnival for sure. It was such a relief to get away from snow and -40 degree weather.

Lots of Fun and Adventure by yargus6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was to celebrate my 65th birthday. I could not have chosen wiser. The Glory, while an older ship, is very well kept up and clean. The various shore adventures were great. We run through the streets, a museum, shops and even snorkeled by the underwater ship in Cozumel. Climbed Mayan ruins in Belize. Rode a motor powered underwater snorkeling helmeted motor bike in Rotan and kissed a stingray and saw a wonderful coral reef as snorkeled  in Grand Cayman. It was all wonderful. I enjoyed every minute. The only downside was the ship was sold out so there were lines sometimes and often a deck chairs was hard to find, but there were always other choices that worked.

Wonderful itinerary, great service, great stops..the sun and heat couldn't be beat! by smilley424

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We cruised on the Carnival Glory two years and have cruised Carnival many times. We planned this cruise around the itinerary and chose the Glory based on past experience. The cruise was fantastic, with the heat, sun, activities and food we have come to expect from past cruises. We ate dinner each night in the Platinum dinning room, early seating, except for one night in the steak house. The food in both was amazing, more than meeting our expectations.

Sea days were crowded on the deck, but we were up at a reasonable hour and got a couple chairs on the back deck one day and the Serenity deck the other. The first port of Cozumel we took the ferry to Playa del Carmen and met friends for the day. We chose to purchase ferry tickets through the shore excursion desk. It actually ended up saving us money!

In Belize we booked the zip line and cave tubing excursion through Carnival. We had a great time hiking through the jungle of Belize, seeing a real, wild Toucan and being introduced to a variety of local vegetation by our nature guide. We then went tubing through a mile long cave large enough to build a hotel in. It was a great time and a beautiful location. the tubes were linked together by rope to that we could relax and take in the scenery while the guide swam us though the cave, avoiding rocks and other tubers. We then went on to Zip lining! This is something everyone of able body has to try at some point. It is exhilarating zipping along above (and through!) the trees of the jungle from platform to platform.

In Roatan we decided that we would take it easy, spending the day at Mahogany Bay beach. We rented a clamshell, floats and brought along our snorkeling gear. After laying in the sun, people watching and swimming we donned our snorkels and masks and found out that Mahogany Bay is one of the best snorkeling sites we had been to up to that point that cost nothing extra! Just head to the far side of the beach by the wharf and climb in, swim away from the dock and look around.

In Grand Cayman we went swimming with the Stingrays with MOBY DICK tours. The tenders from the cruise ship were poorly organized (*we were told it was Grand Cayman's issue, there were five ships at anchor that day) and it took three hours to get off the ship! We waited and watched as tenders came and went empty, with no information given to us about why things weren't moving along. Once we finally made it to shore we had assumed we had missed the excursion, but no, the rep from Moby Dick Tours was waiting for us with, leading us to a boat and heading out to the reef!! It turns out that Moby Dick's added an extra trip just for those of us that were late getting off the Glory! I can't say how happy I was for this. We went swimming with the stingrays, an experience you can't even put into words properly. Spent 45 minutes snorkeling the reef seeing hundreds of fish and coral as well.

All in all this was great trip!! If I had to come up with some negatives I would say that Carnival needs to work on its ships a little more. The Glory is showing its age, and the wear and year of 3000 people every week. Some paint and elbow grease would bring everything back up to the level I expect form a cruise ship. I also found cutbacks to the service staff and the services in general in order to save costs onboard were very obvious. I have cruised with Carnival 9 times, and this one stood out for this, sadly.

All in all I would have to say that I really enjoyed this cruise and would suggest anyone that has the opportunity book the Western Caribbean, looking at the excursions we tried and one way or the other, enjoy the warmth and the sun of the Caribbean.

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. by loree64373

Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our first cruise in January was horrible. We  booked our honeymoon cruise.  We were not acknowledged at all. Nothing.  Carnival said they would make it up to us on our next cruise.  We were told we would get a 2 cabin upgrade and they would make sure we received the bon voyage package. We never received them.  We were at the ship at 10:30 gave our luggage to the porter.   We had a down pour of rain at 2:00 pm.  We received our luggage at 6:00 pm.  Our luggage and our clothes were all soaking wet.  They had there laundry service take our clothes and do it complimentary.  Big Deal!  We had no clothes till 6:00 pm the next night. The next cruise I take will not be with Carnival..

Thoughts on our cruise experience by chris311

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have to begin by saying that I LOVE cruises.  I've done three with Carnival now and two of them were fantastic.  This particular cruise was great in many ways - one particular thing I loved was that you now include the tipping so we don't have to deal with that on the last day.  The down side was that I noticed the service from some of our waiters was not as good as my past cruises.  And the friends we traveled with had a disappointing experience with one of the women in the dining room who normally checks you into the restaurant - she was from Croatia though I don't remember her name, but she would not help my friend to see if we had arrived and said it wasn't her problem. Whaaat??  I was so completely shocked - and had to tell my friends who had never cruised before - that kind of service from Carnaval was NOT typical.  We loved Jan, our steward - he was warm and kind and helpful and found I almost wanted to tip him even more for his excellent service and care.

What i was most disappointed with our cruise was the entertainment quality, and lack of variety.  The vocal ability of the performers was very poor - where they were flat or sharp much of the time.  Though, I did hear from my friends that all of the vocalists were amazing on the Rock performance...but we all thought that the Latin Nights and the Motown performances were not good.  I remember the entertainment of my previous two cruises to be outstanding and thoroughly loved it.  I wish we could have had MORE entertainment options.  The magician was fun, but was more for children.  Spoke with several other people we met on the cruise who felt similar to the way we did, too, and mentioned that it felt like there was more focus on entertaining children rather than adults.   I had to agree.

I also was disappointed in the food variety and quality.  I promise I am NOT a picky person - especially when it comes to food. I actually feel bad complaining because I'm not one to do this but wanted you to know areas I felt could be improved.  In my past cruises, there was 24 hour food and a good variety of that food.  On this cruise, all we had for 24 hour food was the pizza bar (which was yummy, but wanted more options) or ice cream cones. Fresh fruit or a salad would be nice to have available 24 hours so if you felt hungry, you could eat without eating something that might spoil your dinner in an hour. There weren't any fun ice sculptures, and there wasn't a fun chocolate night.  The desserts in the Red Sails Restaurant were not very good....and I LOVE sweets. I'm honestly easy to please!

Noticed in the formal dining area, that there was repetition for meals on certain nights.  I didn't remember that in my past cruises - though maybe I just didn't notice before?  Maybe?  There were several nights were the menu didn't sound appealing and I was disappointed in that because like I said, I'm pretty easy to please.  But, I will say, those dinners that I did have in the formal dining were wonderful.

My party felt that there was lack of directions for each time we were in port - as far as tender numbers and such. The insert you put into the nightly updates for the next day - if they have important details of the port, maybe could be on red paper?  Or at the top, it could say "IMPORTANT" in red ink?  We didn't get an insert one of the days and so were clueless as to what to do with a tender number, that we even needed one.

The first day at sea, the pool slide was closed and we were very disappointed.  Also the fact that the pools were so small and one of them was shut down that day - was another disappointment.  The pool by the pizza bar had filthy looking water in it and we were surprised people actually got in it.

The breakfast was the same every day - though a variety, it was still the same thing to choose from.  Would have liked something different - but the food was good.

Will this experience cause us to not cruise with Carnival again? No. I know you guys do a great job. I just hope that the next time will be the 5 stars I remember the two previous being.

Oh...one last thing....someone HAS to do something about cell service and internet access.  I love my phone and love having access to the internet at a moments notice.  I got to swim with the dolphins in Cozumel and more than anything afterward, I wanted to read up on Dolphins on Google, but couldn't.  Certainly there are packages to buy to email and such, but I seriously felt like that was a big disappointment to taking a cruise.  I found it annoying to pay $0.50 for each text I sent and had to cut back my texting the entire trip. I HATED THAT.  Though that's not just a Carnival problem - it would be awesome if Carnival fixed it.

Looking forward to the next time!

Fun At Sea by hohler4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

The staff was great and the ship was clean. The food was good, but the tenderloin steak at the Golden Restaurant was very tough. The only bad experience was at Grand Turk's beach, when there were no lounge chairs left, because another ship had arrived ahead of us and had taken them all. It would be nice if Carnival had made arrangements for enough lounge chairs for their passengers.

Glory Cruise by cgoethel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had a wonderful time, the staff and crew members made our time on the ship a great experience. There were 2 things that hampered our experience. The first was that I couldn't get my husbands pop for him with his card with the pop sticker on it. My husband had a stroke 6 years ago and can't always walk around for long periods of time and at times he gets confused. They wouldn't let me use the card even though I had both of our cards. I would have to go back and get him to get the pop. I am sorry but no one can drink over $40 dollars in pop in seven days. Also only one 110 plug in the rooms

Theater Entertainment by zeigerwill

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We enjoyed our cruise--except for the evening entertainment and excursions.  Three early theater shows for a 7 night cruise was meager.  The performers were the same.  The shows--in spite of different themes--were all similar.  While the lighting and graphics were very well done, the shows were extremely loud--too loud for the room.  It seemed as though the shows wanted to be stadium rock concerts.  Other passengers seemed to agree since the attendance diminished during the week.  We've enjoyed the theater entertainment on Holland America and Royal Caribbean much, much more.  The best theater activity was the daytime Towel Theater; it was clever, funny, and very entertaining.  The three Carnival excursions were disappointing and not worth the money or time we spent.  The "semi-sub" in Grand Turk was a joke.  Our excursion in San Juan was the only worthwhile one we took.
