Great Vacation Experience Overall by cmccollum

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We very much enjoyed our cruise! The ports were great and we had a blast. The customer service was questionable at times. It felt like Russian Roulette because you never knew if you were going to get someone awesome and helpful, or rude and dismissive. We had an issue with a drink being put on our check that was not ours and when we went down to get it taken off, the first person we spoke to basically told us too bad, and there was nothing he could do. We went back the next morning and the customer service rep promptly removed it and apologized. We also had a staff member interrupt our Valentine's evening by banging incessantly on our door at 10pm. Given that it was Valentine's day, on vacation, in the evening, we were obviously otherwise engaged and did not answer. However, we saw that it was a cruise employee because when we looked out our peephole, she had a name tag on and was in uniform. Instead, we yelled that we were busy multiple times. The woman continued knocking, however. It was extremely disruptive of what was supposed to be a romantic night together. We were both unnerved and upset. When I went down to complain about the occurrence, the customer service representative could not figure out who it was or why they were banging on our door. He apologized but said he didn't think it could have been a cruise employee because they aren't trained to do that. He was very nice, but I expected a bit more from him after our evening was ruined. Despite, these couple of bad run-ins with customer service, we still had an amazing cruise overall. The wait-staff was all amazing as well as the housekeeping staff. The ship was kept very clean and the activities were entertaining! The ports were excellent! We very much enjoyed our vacation and will use Carnival again in the future.

I loved our cruise on the Carnival Glory by Slayne

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We really enjoyed the Carnival Glory. We had great weather and enjoyed all of the parts that we went to. Everyone was friendly and you may want to consider taking a private tour of the various islands. Even if you share it with another couple you really get to see more of how the local people live and we had an opportunity to eat where the local drivers seat. I will do this type of touring in the future.

"Not Like The Last Cruise" by rjvillani

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Went back to Carnival Glory because the time we were on that cruise back in February 2012, in was Excellent.

No where near that on this cruise.

Too many reasons to take my time to explain.

We have gone on a total of seven cruises with various cruise lines.

This one was close to the bottom of our choices.

Good for adults. by mzjenna45

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This cruise was my first and it was my honeymoon. I was always too tired to see the later shows because I was bored all day causing me to be more tired after dinner. The pools were on the cold side, which means we didn't use them. Also hot tubs were always full of kids splashing, so we couldn't enjoy that either. The movies were great, but very windy!!!! The food was good, just wish it was available all day and night instead of just pizza and ice cream. Have ice cream toppings? Picture prices are way too expensive!!! Main thing that frustrated my husband and I is the itinerary that was the same since we booked, changed (due to weather) at the last minute causing our excursions to be on the wrong days! The kids need to be more supervised and need to be kept out of the adult areas.

First time on Carnival, not bad, just not our cup of tea by Kimberkk

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We've never tried Carnival Cruise lines and wanted to due to price and availability of destinations. We'd heard some rumors of it being full of partiers, drunk people, too many kids, etc so we were prepared for that since we're an older couple (50-60's).  We didn't find that to be true. It was a good mix of ages and we didn't hang out by the main pool or slide so we were able to relax by the adult only pool in the back of the ship.    The ship crew was great for the most part in dining room, guest services and room attendants (outstanding!).  Bar service personnel not so great.  The ship was always clean and well kept continuously.  It didn't have a lot of variety of food in the buffet and was pretty tasteless. The buffet seemed to close down way to early to accommodate anyone who did a late lunch or came in from port.  The dining room food was good but not great like we've found with other lines. We loved the Blue Iguana restaurant and Guy's Burgers were good.   We did the steak house and that was great. My husband actually ordered steak house entres in the dining room because the daily choices were so bland (extra cost). The room service menu didn't have a full service breakfast other cruise lines offer (cold items only).  The main complaint we had was disorganization for large endeavors such as shore excursions and debarkation at stops and end of trip. They never seemed to have enough staff to handle the large crowds and made it very frustrating.  While we had great weather, enjoyed the stops, it just wasn't something we'd do again.  Will choose another cruise line in the future.

Strong positives and negatives by chillywilly1360

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Positives: very good customer service for most of the onboard services. Our room service and dining service was exceptional (Arturo -our waiter was wonderful with magic tricks). The food was better than the 3 cruises on Princess Cruise Lines. Good experience for our teenage kids.  My 13 year old daughter was part of the young teenage group that met in "circle C"  and made great friends. She was totally entertained the entire time on the ship.

Negatives: buffet closed at 3pm and after dinner, whereas other cruise lines we've been on have 24 hour buffets. The basketball and volleyball courts closed at 5 on for some unknown reason - disappointing! So,  during the hours that it was open it was packed worth at least 10 kids on the 1/2 court at any one time. If you are looking forward to playing any competitive 1:1basketball or looking forward to some quiet shoot around with a friend - you won't get it. The gym was well equipped but found that only 2 of the 10 elliptical machines worked properly. The touch screens were all broken and won out. Hopefully you don't have any serious medical problem like I did (moped accident on one of my excursions- dislocated my shoulder). The medical staff didn't have an x-ray tech and used a nurse to double for one who didn't know what he was doing. They could never even see the dislocation on x-ray due to poor skill level.  My shoulder was dislocated for a day and a half before I finally had to relocate it myself in my cabin. The doctor said she was comfortable relocating it but was unable to do it and never followed up with me to see how I was doing. Just gave me medications and sent me on my way.

Overall,  if I didn't have extenuating circumstances,  the cruise would have just fine but wasnt happy with my overall experience.

carnival glory by seaya408

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Very nice cruise to 8 islands. The dinner menu should change every week. After 7 days, menu was a repeat of previous week.  Also "Sea  days" need more activities and a movie should be played in the theater or some other place on the ship during the afternoon.

Quality of food continues to decline by WavesAway

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We have been cruising with Carnival since 1985 and seen the change from 'Glamour Cruising' to today's Fun Ship Cruising and while there have been many positive changes over the years, there has been 1 big miss...........The Food.......

The ship still provides a wide variety of menu choices but the quality of the meat items is very low (at best).  We often left dinner hungry and if we went right to a show after dinner, we were left with a choice of pizza or ice cream and even for the ice cream, only 1 station was open.  The service in the dining room was (as always) exemplary but I saw a ton of food being wasted because it simply was inedible.   From rubber steaks to overcooked fish, the decision to save money on lower quality foods is costing a lot of money due to waste.  What a shame.  It is time for this 21 year loyal customer to try another cruise line.

Carnival Glory Feb 2016 by jrocmc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I will try to write this in an understandable manor.  Hopefully in order.

The first mishap took place on the first day at the Muster.  Having cruised over 20 times, we know the drill.  What we experienced was total unexpected.  During our late dinner we were called to Muster, without any announcement before hand.

When all of us had assembled, a person told us we had to go back inside the ship....and congregate in the halls and stairways....note everyone on the ship.

At that time they announced the crew should take their places...apparently they missed that bit of protocol.  We again were called to our stations.

Carnival cannot seem to get it right with the food......It was again...very bad.  Some meals were good....the lobster...the tenderloin....but overall very disapointed.  In defense...we went to the steakhouse and found the tenderloin to be worse than the main dining room.

Our cabin has seen the worse for wear....tattered lamp shades and drapes.

Our toilet stopped functioning 4 times...apparently an electrical problem.

I must admit that maintance was VERY quick to respond each time....the front desk eventully gave us a credit on our sign and sail account.

Ok...enough of the bad stuff....

The crew was excellent....our room steward and his helper were very friendly and helpful.  Our waiter and his 2 assistants were again friendly and responsive in light of the awful food..

The ports were ok...some better than others....overall a good time

Our Cruise Steward Armando was absolutely FABULOUS!! Our dinner table server Oka was also wonderful! We booked the cruise based solely on the itinerary as we've visited these ports several times before.

11 night cruise by nana7g

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We loved the itinerary on this cruise, and that at each island we had from 8 am to 6 pm to explore. The food at the restaurant was delicious and the staff were wonderful and friendly.  We especially liked their dancing routine in the evenings.

Our cabin was a good size w/balcony, which we loved to sit out there and read, and our cabin was kept immaculate.

Chose this agenda for the itinerary and it paid off. We like that we could get off almost every morning somewhere new. Gave us a chance to see islands that we might have never been able to. We decided to book another cruise for next year on some other islands in the Eastern Caribbean. Thought we might not like the 'Days at Sea' but found they were relaxing and full itenaray if we choose to participate.

THE CRUISE by kellyhewitt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Carnival is NOT my favorite cruise line however; the price was favorable and the itinerary is what drew us back. The wait staff at the Platinum 6pm dining- Patricia and Wira were outstanding, the room steward always said our names when greeting us at any time of the day and our actual room location was perfect. The food served was subpar and needed seasoning, the buffet was simply gross, and the only thing worthy of an 'A' rating was the Guys Burgers, the pizza and taco bar.

We loved all of our stops. Martinique was challenging due to the language barrier/currency conversion, but otherwise it was amazing.

We loved that this was an older crowd and not many children were onboard. Responsible drinkers vs. spring breakers was a plus. Also loved the purchase water option.

Only suggestion I might make is ---The Internet package should be offered PER ROOM vs. Per person. AND, the photos--they waste a lot of photo paper. There has got to be a more eco friendly way to do this? Seems super wasteful.

Slower than Expected by MizzE16

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Although the itinerary was very nice and I loved where we stopped, the atmosphere was very slow.

I didn't realize this was the first part of a 22-day cruise.  Most of the activities were geared to an older demographic.  I was expecting a little more fun, from this "fun ship".

Overall great experience by Cruiser147

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

There are always good points and bad on a cruise and each person has their own taste. My room size wise was more than adequate. The food was good, not great though the service was great. The staff went out of their way to ensure a good time. The ports were fun

Carnival out did itself on this cruise ;)

Entertainment that was professional from the first night, food that was exquisite and served with 5star attention to detail. Go Erik, Khaingh (sp) and Aleand? Provided personalized attention to satisfaction. The island adventures provided too many options...just have to come back I guess...

Chris Caulfield provided excellent service in helping us to plan and execute a most memorable cruise to the Eastern Caribbean with Carnival. There were 5 in our party and Chris coordinated every aspect of the cruise. He was available 24/7 and always promptly answered questions we had. He organization was impressive and his calm and experienced manner really made the planning go very smoothly. We would recommend working with Chris whenever you are going to plan a vacation.
