Review summary

Carnival is NOT my favorite cruise line however; the price was favorable and the itinerary is what drew us back. The wait staff at the Platinum 6pm dining- Patricia and Wira were outstanding, the room steward always said our names when greeting us at any time of the day and our actual room location was perfect. The food served was subpar and needed seasoning, the buffet was simply gross, and the only thing worthy of an 'A' rating was the Guys Burgers, the pizza and taco bar.

We loved all of our stops. Martinique was challenging due to the language barrier/currency conversion, but otherwise it was amazing.

We loved that this was an older crowd and not many children were onboard. Responsible drinkers vs. spring breakers was a plus. Also loved the purchase water option.

Only suggestion I might make is ---The Internet package should be offered PER ROOM vs. Per person. AND, the photos--they waste a lot of photo paper. There has got to be a more eco friendly way to do this? Seems super wasteful.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
NEEDS SEASONING!! The food was bland as all get out. Patricia and Wira our wait staff were AMAZING though and I can't say that enough.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Staff was fun and engaging

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Diva Show and Epic Rock were AMAZING Comedians were super fun--especially once they did their 'adult' time

Children's Programs

DID NOT USE/no kids with us

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Again, Patricia and Wira, Platinum Dining, 6pm seating....AMAZING.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I made a YouTube video and posted it so others searching for suite cabins can see how spacious the room was.

Ship tip

TIP: if you are going to book a room--splurge and get an ocean suite and book MID ship as its easy access to all floors in either direction. Choose anytime dining so you do not have to rush for early seating or miss out on things if you have late seating.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
where we returned the rental car/Avis Budget in downtown---tooooooo congested and chaotic.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

3 out of 5
only reason for this rating was because there was not much to do. The shore excursions were canceled due to weather and that also meant nothing was really open because employees could not get to the small island due to high seas.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
DO NOT CHOOSE coast to coast safari...just play in the water and shop

St. John's, Antigua

5 out of 5
Stingray City!! and rum punch ....shop and buy booze, venture outside of the duty free and find a small local place to eat. Everyone was super friendly.

Fort-De-France, Martinique

5 out of 5
LEARN FRENCH and bring a conversion book to know Euro/US dollar or whatever currency you use. If you travel outside of the port they will not do this for you and are quite disenchanted with Americans. Also, there are a few 'tops' optional beaches :)

Castries, St. Lucia

5 out of 5
Kayak!! Hike to Fort Rodney and eat the local fruit.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
play with monkeys!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
BEACH!! Stuff here was expensive--but downtown local market was fun because you can haggle for things.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
only tip here is---THE AIRPORT is super clean so don't be scared. And please fly JetBlue because they are the best!!

Jennifernutting I know Carnival now has the specialty coffees mixed with there cheers alcohol package, but not sure about milkshakes

It's the daily itinerary and news/information... Like a play on words from newspapers. Think of the Chicago sun times but it's just for the ship stuff for that day, so it's the fun times. Kelly, I'd like to see the inter be per room too. When the glory first got it in 2013, it was per room. But my cabin mate had to wait till I was done before she could use it (only one login at a time). I don't.

what's the fun times

tanlu    8 years ago

Yes there are both specialty coffee and shake package/points deals we read a bout in the fun times. We only have the Bubbles pop/juice package.

Mickeycrazed    8 years ago

no, and I won't be getting soda package again on our next one. we, i, don't drink enough to make it worth it

jennifernutting    8 years ago

I know there is also the unlimited soda package but I was on princess before and they had another package deal for specialty coffee/soda and non alcholic shake type drinks. does anyone know anything like that with carnival

Mickeycrazed    8 years ago

I called, but I was doing other stuff (checking prices of arcade games) and asked then but I think you can do it online

jennifernutting    8 years ago

do you call them or online

Mickeycrazed    8 years ago

you have to do it like 2 weeks before

jennifernutting    8 years ago

really ,that's awesome. do we order the water online or once we get on board

Mickeycrazed    8 years ago

you can order a 12 pack of water for $2.99 and it will be in your room. you can't take it on board with you,

jennifernutting    8 years ago

kelleyhewit you mentioned the purchase of water option, what is that

Well on ours, we got totally rerouted because of storms (I realize that wasn't Carnivals fault). The food was not good. Not even the pizza. The breakfas. Guy's Burgers and burritos were the only thing we enjoyed. The entertainment was very lacking with the exception of the comedy shows. A lot of the staff seemed uninterested in anything. The CD walked by us numerous times and never spoke. It just wasn't fun. The Fascination was more fun than that. We went on her twice.

And Aprilt27, I'm surprised. I returned to the glory because I had a great time. The second time, I had an even better time!

Re:photos... When I was on Disney I swiped my key and viewed my photos on a touch screen. On celebrity, I viewed my photos on my stateroom tv and ordered them from there. I liked it better than searching the wall for my photos. But there is something to seeing the final printed product.

We were on Royal Carribbean in November and they put pictures up on iPads by swiping your room card, hopefully Carnival follows this paperless route!

Mickeycrazed    8 years ago

Disney has an awesome way they do pics in the parks (going to assume they do it the same on the ships) that carnival could learn from

Cruisinforsanity    8 years ago

We feel the same way about the wast of photo paper and ink. Put them on a disc for guests to access and print as needed!

Mickeycrazed    8 years ago

I am with you on the photo waste

missysmith1028    8 years ago

we went on the Glory in October, it was awesome!

aprilt27    8 years ago

I'm glad you had a good experience on the Glory because we sure didn't last year.
