My final cruise by djdmunson

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise I took will probably be my last, which saddens me, because I enjoy them, but there are so many better vacation alternatives nowadays.  Cruises have changed so much over the years, not always for the better, & this trip really brought that truth home to me.  When I took my first cruise 20 years ago, you paid for the trip & that was it, except for (voluntary & at your discretion) tips.  Now, you pay through the nose for the cruise & then are nickle & dimed for the entire trip.  NOTHING (except for copious amounts of food, most of it mediocre, some of it amazing) else is included.  Come on, cruise companies - you can't include free soda fountain drinks in your prices?  $6 for a beer?  $20 for a lobster?  For four people, over & above the cruise price itself, the bill came to nearly $2000 for excursions, 6 drinks (we counted), a spa "special" & tips - apparently, 20% for anybody we ever passed in a hallway or acknowledged on a deck.

The cruise itself was pleasant, if you like lots of noise & drunks.  (To be fair, it was spring break on the ship &, evidently, college kids now have a ton of money to spend on cruises & liquor.)  I knew Carnival was a "party" line, but why do bands in small, enclosed places have to have 4 amplifiers?  We spent most of our time on the "Serenity" deck, where children weren't allowed, but even there the music was too loud.  We were bombarded with photographers constantly (5 of them in a row along the dock when we left the ship in the ports). All the "activities" that we could find on board revolved around selling things - jewelry, mostly.

On the plus side, our room was very nice with a balcony.  It was always kept clean by an extremely pleasant steward, who always acknowledged us by name.  We had very congenial tablemates in the dining room, where we had most of our dinners.  The food there was, overall, top notch, & our waiters also knew our names.  There were movies every night, both family & adult, beside the pool with popcorn & blankets, which we all enjoyed.   The music, while loud, was good & covered lots of different genres.  We took advantage of a spa special one day & were impressed by the treatment & the staff.  The excursions (two of us swam with the stingrays & two went on a city tour in Cayman & two went to Tulum in Mexico) were good.  (A big shout out to our guide Paco in Mexico, who knows EVERYTHING about the Mayan culture!) So it wasn't all bad, just overpriced.

Cruise lines, add some more activities to your day - trivia contests, demonstrations, anything that isn't tied to "selling".  Let us have fountain drinks included in our fares.  Tone down the music.  Quit shoving photographers in our faces every time we walk down a hallway.  STOP NICKLE & DIMING US TO DEATH.

Surpassed my expectations by allylulu

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The reason why I loved this cruise so much is because of the incredible friendliness of all the staff! They are so willing to help you and talk to you about where they are from. They are more than on top of their work and make sure that you have the best cruise experience, that's an understatement. The comedy shows are hilarious and twice every night except one night. They have an outstanding piano bar, Natalie is chockfull of talent but I think she is going to a different ship. I went for my senior year spring break with only one other person and we were never bored or out of things to do! I didn't purchase any carnival excursions, I found it cheaper and sometimes much better to purchase from independent tour groups when we got to the island. The food was spectacular, I'm a vegetarian so I really loved all the salad concoctions they had. Also, their dessert bar was amazing, every day was different and it was all very gourmet and excellent display. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We got room service cleaning twice a day. The islands were amazing and beautiful! The crew, carnival vacationers, food, island stops and entertainment were above and beyond! If you're looking for a relaxing, fun and active vacation, I recommend this!

You have a lot of work to do by wmilczarek

This was the worst cruise I have ever been on. Service outside the stateroom was terrible. Food in the dining room was substandard. Food at the buffet was not replenished in time. You ran out of some alcoholic beverages. Broken deck furniture. Shortage of ash trays. All I heard from repeat customers was how the service level had deteriorated, especially because the crew was understaffed. I cannot carry a note when I sing. Neither could your entertainers. Very unsatisfactory entertainment across the board. The top side speaker system was very difficult to hear because the speakers needed to be replaced. It will be a long, long time before I ever cruise Carnival again if ever.

Alittle disappointed by StevenParker742

The only places open to eat after 9pm was pizza place and deli. For the price you pay I would expect better customer service. You feel rushed visiting island.

Good cruise, weather and wind ruined our two planned excursions.

Buffet food was not good quality. Late night choices were limited to pizza only.

Staff was awesome.  Really enjoyed the beach islands.

My trip by pbdeal55

We've been on the Glory before.  It has the 2.0 upgrades which are great.   We like the itinerary, and have been several times.   We like the size of the ship.  The staff was great.  The fun squad brought the fun.  Very nice experience.

Great ports of call by Sudsy68

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Carnival Glory is a great ship, clean and wonderful deck areas for sun bathing away from the main pool area for older adults. We have cruised about 10 times and loved the Grand Cayman, Mahaugonay Bay and Cozumel. Belize is not worth going ashore unless you have an excursion. We held stingrays in Grand Cayman, went snorkeling on Jolly Roger Catamarn and on a "submarine" in Cozumel along with land visits to a Mayan temple, the first Catholic Church, chocolate making and tasted tequila. All were terrific excursions. We were disappointed with the lack of shows in the theater. The three productions were very well done with outstanding background lighting/computer driven images, very talented dancers and singing. But there were not any other productions. In the past there was some sort of entertainment...like jugglers, magicians, ventriloquist, etc. yea, there was the usual Newly Wed game and lots of bingo. One night there was NOTHING...no show and no comedy!! We enjoyed some of the comedians but why nothing one night. It is also obvious they cut back on the food and dining room services. No strawberries...even when they had a chocolate dipping. Very little watermelon. Some nights the waiters served rolls and other nights they were on the table, the same with water. They do not pull chairs out or put napkins on your lap. Lots of little things that I got used to on my previous cruises. No midnight buffet with ice carvings or carved fruits and vegetables which used to be awesome. I cruised with Carnival in October and had all of the above things that were missing on this cruise. Disappointed! The dining room servers and cabin stewards were awesome...very friendly, asking if everything was okay, bringing additional food, etc.

Cruise review by shackelford1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall our experience was good.  We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary.  One of the gifts carnival gave us was a 50 spa card.  I used it for a hair treatment.  I was not happy about having to pay an additional 35.00 just to get my hair dried after the treatment and had a hard time communicating with the employee.  I felt the staff working in the cabins and on the ship were extremely courteous and helpful.  When I booked my cruise through the person I was working with was either fired or quit.  No one informed me so a lot of things I was trying to get answered did not happen.  I finally called to see what was going on and that is when I was told and the person helped the best she could.

the service was as expected, as the wait staff and bartending staff were very attentive. rad at the casino bar and antonio on the lido deck were fantastic. the casino host and all of the casino staff were great and above expectation. and the comedy shows kept us laughing. thank you carnival for a great trip. the only one thing i didnt like as a change was, we always get up early on sea days and put our towels and stuff out and go back to our room and shower etc. this time, our stuff was removed and our chairs were taken. so for everyone make sure you arent gone from your chairs for more than 30 minutes, you will be mad.

Glory days not so Glory! by Cruiser822

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Boarding a ship in Miami is definitely long and laborious.  However, having a priority embarkation makes it much easier and a more enjoyable experience.  The Embarkation and Debarkation experience was great.  The music throughout the ship was extremely disappointing to put it mildly.  The shows were a total disappointment and their dancers and singers were the worst.  If you like to gamble, but cannot handle the smoke, there is not much else going on in the evening other than on the nights they have  comedy shows, which were enjoyable.  I am not certain if I would try another Carnival cruise, unless it is the Breeze or possibly the new Vista.

Limited Evening Entertainment by Jewel2015

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The only evening entertainment onboard was comedy shows, 20 of them. The Glory has only 3 free tea selections. I had no idea that they wouldn't have Chamomile tea, I would have brought my own. It was available, but I had to pay extra for it, not good. The shore excursions were booked through . They were disappointing. It was difficult finding where the excursions met for take off. There were NO signs for cruisers to find where to go. Probably won't be doing excursions in the future. It is much easier and much less stressful going with the cruise ship excursions. They lead you to where you need to go.

Encuesta by sabinamoreno

7 night carnival glory eastern caribbean cruise by bigjoe62

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Glory / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our first cruise so we didn't really know what to expect. Logistics wise not an issue with anything. Getting on board, to our room, luggage arrival etc...was all spot on. There are lines but there are a lot of people trying to on board at the same time. Staff was excellent in every regard. The boat was clean and well maintained. The food was very good at every venue we tried, pizza, buffets, sit down dinners...all of it was very good, no complaints at all. My biggest hats off goes to the staff on the boat. Some of the friendliest hard working folks you will ever meet. They go out of their way to make your stay on board as pleasant as possible. We were very impressed. Our room was maintained spotless and our meals were served with a friendly smile. We would do another cruise with Carnival.
