Very enjoyable time. Our night wait staff in the Chic Restaurant was super. Chris, Adrian, & Iputu. The ship departed and arrived at each port exactly on time or a little sooner. Every crew member was extremely friendly, room steward did excellent job with the towel characters (elephant, bear, manta ray, etc.).

Repeat Cruise by RuthieCopple

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

we did this same cruise as a back to back cruise last year and we did 14 days on the Freedom. We love this ship. Plus a great time. Plenty of things to do and see. The crew is so friendly and helpful. Be friendly to them they will be friendly to you. We used room service at 12midnight and it was fast and very good. We had early dining at 6pm and had the best server Denton who is our dear friend from past cruises. I say if you want to do a cruise and for a good price go on Carnival.

Mother/Daughter cruise by relaxing

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have traveled and taken many cruises since I was a child. Never been on Carnival and was surprised by many things.  To start, the people that work on the ship are excellent! They were willing to help when they could and were always nice in the manner to how they talked to us. The bars did get a bit crazy and they were not as nice but hey, what did I really expect.

The cruise was very loud. There are DJ's by the pool and I think their entire gig was to be a loud as they possible could. The same with all other bands throughout the ship.  It was very hard to find a quiet place to relax...we did find the outside on the 3rd floor had lounge chairs and it was perfect if you like shade. The Serrenity area is for adults only, and while a nice place, you heard all the loud music from the main pool. The pool in the back of the ship was better, and you had to be 18 to be there, but still crazy.  People are there to party. We were there for a relaxing week. While we were able to find our place, when they say Carnival is the fun ship, it is the loud party ship.

Dinners were good but always disturbed by the "host" in the dining room with music and then dancing by the waiters.  Really could have done without that. We are not boring people as it may sound.  There is a time and a place for everything...we did not need the dining room staff to dance every night. Would I cruise Carnival again, yes. Would I go with my husband to relax, no. Would I take my children and find my spot in the sun? Yes again. They have many good things to offer. It could just be toned down a bit, but then, maybe I am not the client they are looking for. The price is good. If you can avoid the corny picture set ups all over the ship, you will keep your cost at the end of the trip down! All in all, a memory I will never forget, traveling with my daughter. Enjoy but just know what you are in for...loud music and lots of people having fun!

My cruise experience by happycruises

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean

We have cruised many times on Carnival lines. But we found this cruise not to be up to standards. The staff were not friendly with the exception of our cabin steward. He was very friendly and always made our cabin clean ane had enough towels. The dining room staff was not friendly until the last three days probably so you remember them for their tip.The ports were beautiful with the exception of La Romana. Why would you go there?  the other ports made up for it. They were wonderful. And since those were the ports we wanted we enjoyed the cruise. The food in dining room was not as good as previous cruises. The same desserts every night. The shows put on by the Freedom dances were excellent. We truly enjoyed them.Overall we will still cruise Carnival just maybe not Freedom again.Happy

Over priced. by BonnieChiguina

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have cruised before on another cruise line and it just seemed so much cheaper. Drinkers were over priced and the wait staff at the buffets were not too friendly. Over all it was ok. Just wished I would have gotten more for what I paid for.

Our room was always cleaned other then when we first opened out mini fridg there was an old water bottle in it and a dead moth.

8 day carnival cruise by badvacation

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This cruise was so boring that me and my couldn't wait for it to end. The cruise was focused on senior citizen's. there was nothing to do all day when it was sea for 3 day's. they had arthritus seminar's, back pain classes, yoga, how to treat a bad hair day. stupid stuff. most of the night club's were closed because it was dead. the old people go to bed early. even the casino was quiet. we ate in the main dining room for dinner and when you left there you were still hungry. the food was horrible. we had to go the buffet after. I have been on 2 other carnival cruise's and they were great but this was the worst .

good time but some poor service by motown19762009

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

most of the crew were very nice and visible. our cabin stewart were nowhere to be seen. they took 1 of our beach towels when it was used but didn't replace it. had 2 water excursions after that and had to do with only 1 towel for 2 people. seen another crew on another floor asked for a towel were denid. went to the main pool towel hut it was closed. now for the casino.

, i play table games and not all my buy ins were recorded. last year i had my free drinks card on thursday this year i didn't get it til saturday and i spent more money this year than last year.also wait staff was hard to find especially late in the cruise when a lot of people had free drink cards. had to wait for an hour twice to order a drink, and it wasn't even busy it was early around 5 pm. when i did finally order a drink took 30 minutes to get it.this poor service won't stop me from cruising on carnival but will keep me out of the casino i'll spend more time doing free stuff like shows.but if i get this kind of service again on carnival i will switch to a different cruise line.

As a long time cruiser I must say both my husband and I both love the Freedom...we get a balcony which is quite roomy...the fact that they have a smoking section ouside is a plus...I like to talk to other cruisers and enjoy the covered smoking section where we get together...workers on the ship are very friendly...

just ok by TNT1569

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have traveled with Canival several times and have actually cruised on the Freedom in the past.  The ship itself is nice but could certainly use some updates.  The desserts (with the exception of the chocolate molten cake) were all bland not sweet just nothing the cheese cake tasted like no flavor jello/pudding.  The staff were amazing with 0 complaints.  We did however feel there were not enough staff to keep up with the demand of guests(long line for pizza, burgers, waiting for a table to be cleaned ect.)  Keeping children out of the adult only areas was a huge challenge as well.  We smelled pot nightly and our "neighbors" were very loud until 2-3 in the morning.  Our excursion in Key West was cancelled (lack of interest) and our excursion time was changed from noon to 9a in Grand Cayman(with no explanation) and the locals in Jamaica(only at Dunn River Falls)(the locals at the bobsled and skylift were amazing) are very rude, pushy, and inconsiderate.  More food choices in the dining room would be nice but the food served in all areas was delicious!!!  We loved the outdoor theater but this time we were disappointed at the selection of movies/sports shows (same stuff night after night).  Entertainment should be everynight in the comedy shop and on the pool deck.  We loved the 24 hour pizza (which tasted awesome) and the 24/7 ice cream.  Carnival is a great cruise line for the price:)  We are looking to book our next cruise and are looking at several reviews from different cruise lines to help us make our decision.

Much better than anticipated. by frankgli

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We booked this cruise because it fit into our available time, and because it was cheap. Now that's often not a wise way to purchase anything, but in this case it worked out fine. We found the ship clean, very attractively decorated, the service was very good and the food excellent. There were a number of planned onboard events for all age groups, but our interest was in just kicking back and enjoying the liesure time and the food. We did not purchase any of the tours because we had been to those ports previously, but did walk around the dock area a bit in each one. I feel comfortable in recommending this cruise to anyone. Carnival has had a bad reputation recently, but they certainly delivered the goods on this cruise.

It wasn't the best. The ports were fun but then the boat it's self was boring. Not enough things to do. Very repetitive on the daily schedule. Didn't have much to do. Staff was not the best. They were rude a good 90% of the time

Cruise Virgins by BabyCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I loved this cruise. I was told it was a little more mellow by our table mates who had been on several cruises. Ie not as many activities on the ship. But for my husband and I who just wanted to relax it was perfect. We were never bored and always had time for an afternoon nap which was great. I loved our Bamboo Beach club excursion. Be careful with the rum punch though it sneaks up on you. The overall environment was just fun! I know they call it a fun ship but it really is. Everyone on board was so friendly and happy like they love their job. We both felt special and had a great time.

Carnival Freedom Eight Day Caribbean Cruise by CarnivalFanatic

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Being on the Carnival Freedom was an amazing experience. Carnival goes out of their way to make cruising fun and unique. Making it to your destination like the various islands in the Caribbean is only part of your vacation. Meeting wondeful people from staff to fellow cruise passengers is the memorable part of your vacation. All ships have entertainment, it is the people participating that makes it fun. Carnival's entertainment staff Brad, Bruce, Dustin, and Victor took what could have been boring games and turned them into delightful events. From your wait staff to housekeeping they all go out of their way to make your time memorable. The food was amazing and so much to choose from the buffet to a sit-down meal, Carnival allowed you to go from simple to complex in your menu selection. I'm glad our room was very spacious and had a porthole to look out because the ship glide across the water you never felt like you were moving. You couldn't ask for more friendlier, fun people to sail with. We quickly became cherish friends with so many passengers we met onboard. On a Carnival cruise it's not about your destination it's the journey there and the wonderful time you have getting there.

Save your money and take a different cruise line. by CruisedAlot

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have been on over 30 cruises and this one was by far the worst. My most recent cruises had been on RCCL and I like them very much. I hadn't been on CCL in over 20 years and I thought the price was good and maybe with all their problems in the past 6-12 months that they would be "trying harder". There were not. The food was not good in either taste or presentation. The staff were generally surly with the exception of a couple of bartenders and our cabin steward. The ship in general, was not very clean and there occasionally was a distinct sewage smell on the Lido deck We were only in Ocho Rios from 7:30 am-2:30 pm. Not enough time, at all. Carnival has earned the nickname "K-Mart of the Caribbean".
