Time to breath by lyndajfigaro

Favorite time on the cruise would be the 3 days at sea.  A time to relax, stress free, enjoying the never ending beautiful blue water, blue sky and SUN.  I also enjoyed parasailing with my son in Nassau.

Good but a little disappointed by pitchindad

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I would have rated this cruise higher but I am a little disappointed in Carnival.  My wife came back sick and I feel it is because Carnival has chosen to not encourage passengers to use the sanitizers.  This is my 3rd cruise on a Carnival ship.  The sanitizers are available but without crew reminding or strongly encouraging people to use them the passengers ignore there use.  I have sailed twice before on Princess and their policy has been to ask people to use these and we didn't have a problem.  I know this might seem petty but she got an awful cold half way through the week and it really put a damper on our fun.  Other than that it was enjoyable and Cruise Director Malcolm was the best I have ever seen.  The man was like the energizer Bunny everywhere and doing everything.  He was hoot.  Crew was friendly and ship was clean and food too good, if you know what I mean.

Fun, Fun, Fun. by jsweeney71101

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We took this cruise to celebrate our anniversary of 44 years.  We wanted to go to ports that we have not been to before so took this one to Key West and Nassau.  The cruise was great, food, well, too much for me but I loved it.   The Cruise director Malcom was great.  He was on our last cruise in Nov, and he was still always full of energy and fun.  His personality is one of a kind.  The only Bad item that we experienced was rude people smoking in areas not assigned for smokers.  We ran into them in the passage ways below decks, in the library, and really took away some of the great time we had.  I would love to take a cruise where there were no smokers aboard, but don't think that will ever happen.  Do wish the ship would boost the exhaust system around the casino area, that would help a lot.  Wink

Friendly party vessel by philredding

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We enjoyed our trip aboard the Carnival Freedom. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Much of the cruise's activities were centered on drinking and partying which is great if that is what you do. We would like to have seen more self help seminars. Also, it would be great if library had more non-fictional type books. With this said, it was a nice cruise with great port stops at Nassau and Key West. These places were really great. Freeport, Bahamas not so great. Really nothing there.

Had a really great time on Carnival cruise.  A large group of us go each year.  They are so accommodating to get us a table together.  Key West is excellent each year.  Bahamas is fun in the sun and beautiful beaches.

Our 7 Night Western Carribean Experience by tbasstax

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We recently returned from our cruise from Galveston to Roatan, Belize City, and Cozumel. The ship was great and most of the experiences were good. Our only negative experience on the ship had to do with dining. For some reason, one area of our nightly dining restaurant (Chic) was excessively slow. After two nights of mind numbing waiting for basic essentials (water, appetizers, etc.), we made our way back to the other side of the restaurant where we had previously had stellar service; we stayed on that side for the rest of the cruise. June and his crew were the consummate professionals, and brought the enjoyment back to our dining experience! We paid him complements to his superiors, and hope that recognition is/was ultimately received by him. A few comments about shopping; don't buy everything at the first stop because deals will probably exist at each stop. If you buy more than a few items, don't hesitate to ask for a "volume discount". Everything is negotiable. Some items are not really duty free, based on what we experienced well after purchasing. If buying on the ship, wait until later in the cruise, including the last sea day, to get the best deals. Don't get too emotionally charged about any one thing because buyers remorse is harder to get over than others would have you think. Last, but not least on the shopping side, do as much research as conditions allow before purchasing the "iffy" items (like that "must have" spa treatment, or the "last ring/watch of its type in stock", or the "book your next cruise NOW for the best deal!"). On that last item, we actually found that the deal we got with was better than what they offered on the ship ($50 deposit on ship versus no deposit with CO)! We chose to NOT take advantage of their "best offer", but instead will probably book our next cruise through . We are not representatives of , we're just happy with the booking and service we received on this cruise. As a famous sportscaster once said; "dance with the one that brung ya", so with that in mind, we like and will most likely use them again. Carnival is a great cruise line, and we plan on sailing them again. One last thing; for boarding, we highly recommend choosing the earlier times relative to summer heat, and for disembarking, we highly recommend you DO NOT plan a specific timeframe to be off the ship. Too many things can go wrong, so save yourself some stress and allow plenty of time to make your next travel venue upon leaving the ship. Happy Sailings!!

Food disappointing by msfh71166

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Being with my husband and friends was great, but we got tired of the same stuff being on the buffets all the time. Early shut downs, pizza was great, desserts offered not really great. Compared to my first cruise I was so very disappointed in the difference of food and late night offers.

Great Vacation! by tmm8658

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise ever, and we loved every minute of it.  Embarkation went smoothly, and we were in our cabin a half hour before they estimated we would.  The excursions were fun and very interesting.  Although the weather was very hot and humid on shore, the ship was comfortable.  The food was excellent, the entertainment was fun, and the cruise director, Malcom, was hilarious.  We thoroughly enjoyed the whole week.  We will definitely be cruising with Carnival again.Love

Carnival Freedom by pamke

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was fantastic.

The room was kept very clean.

The food was definitely lower quality than prior Carnival cruises. The food selections, were ok, because we could get a good burger if we didn't like the buffet. The buffet would be served better by having more common American foods. The drinks were very lacking in variety. The Mexican food was not a very good variety, and it tasted lousy. The variety of food for late night eating was very disappointing. Pizza and ice cream are not good choices for very late eating.

We saw 3 shows but only one was worth the time.

I was disappointed in the selection of movies. It would have been nice to have some new comedy movie.

The steak house was good.

The slot machines were so incredibly tight, I rarely saw anyone hit and when they did, they were already so far down, they still didn't make their money back. I play in a lot of different casinos, and this by far was the tightest.

The cruise ship workers were great from the dining room to the stewards, they were all fantastic, and very knowledgeable.

The ports were good, but it would have been nice to add 1 more port on a 7 day cruise.

Wasn't impressed by MissaShel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I guess it's because I sailed with one of the top cruise lines for my first cruise, I was a little disappointed with carnival. Avoid there seminars on how to shop at port. They will direct you to diamonds international and they are scammers. The jeweler you but there appraises for half of the price you pay. I feel like carnival is affiliated with di because of how much they push the company on you. The food was descent. Very disappointed by the entertainment with exception for the last night. My cabin was very dusty and the celling was rusted. Overall I don't think I will sail carnival again.

2016 Anniversary Cruise by danandjanet

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed the cruise, having a balcony allows us to relax away from all the noise and traffic in the common areas.  The staff we interacted with were exceptional, our waiters, Noel, Eduardo and Esther were great!  We enjoyed them so much and they made us feel so welcome and special. Our cabin steward, Soni, was a gem, so helpful, efficient and caring.

Cruise girl by Keepitreal

Loved pretty much everything. The service and food was excellent. The only thing I had a problem was I was promised a 50 credit which I never got. When I inquired about it they just said no I didn't get it even though I'd written it down in my notes when I booked it.

Cruising with Class by jboswell1960

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our cruise was a great way to relax. The food was outstanding and you could find plenty 24 hours a day. I didn't run into anyone staff that was not friendly. By the end of day one our room attended knew our first names. One of the many fun things was the evening entertainment. I felt like I was at a Broadway Show. The only down piece was one of our shore trips was cancelled at the last minute. But there was enough shopping to make up for it....LOL

Good cruise for the cost by lgpearce

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The majority of the items were great. The shows are mediocre at best and the same type every night. Way too loud too. The comedy shows are good. Cruise director great. They need to make the way you get bingo forms a little more efficient. Takes too long if crowded. The staff doing bingo was really nice and did a good job. Like being able to get photos on CD rather than having to look through mountains of photos. Royal Caribbean has a great photo purchase system.  On a picky side, the toilet paper is horrible, sorta like using mild sandpaper. Overall it was fun and we had a good time and would do it again.

Fun and Relaxing by Jddesantis

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Freedom / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We really enjoyed our cruise on the Carnival Freedom. I felt the money was well spent, and there was plenty to keep us entertained. We've always traveled Princess, and so we didn't know what to expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Although not quite as upscale in decor as a Princess ship, the ship and service still met our expectations, and contrary to what we heard, the food was quite good! Atmosphere was fun, and entertainment excellent. Overall, we would definitely take a carnival cruise again, especially because of the pricing compared to Princess.
