FOOD WAS GOOD BUT PORTIONS SMALL IN MAIN DINING BUT U CAN ORDER AS MUCH AS U WANT SO THAT TAKES CARE OF THAT, BEAUTIFUL WEATHER AND CREW WAS ALWAYS FRIENDLY AND READY WITH A SMILE. FELT VERY PAMPERED.

mexican riviera on the elation by LavonneH

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

this was our 6th trip on the elation to mexico. the weather was wonderful but something was lacking with the service. maybe since they prepay the gratuity for you the personnell do not feel obligated to work for their money. do not get me wrong they work hard but the personal touch was not there. the matre dei had his head down at the desk at the door on the last nite. usually he practically chases you down to say good bye . looking for his envelope.

Great Experience by Ginad27507271

Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

My daughter and her girl friend had a great time. They were placed at a dinner table with others of similar ages(22 ish). As the mother, I was confident the girls were safe. The enjoyed the excursions in both Mexican cities. Thank You

Was an okay ship by ColleenS3

This really isn't a cruise we thought for adults. If you have children, great. The entertainment is definately geared toward children and families. The food was mediocre. Not what we have experienced on other cruise lines. We were disappointed.

It was a fun cruise. by RonA3

From my experience and talking to others the shore excursions were sub-par and did not reflect the presentations in your brochures.

It was okay by PallaviG

Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

It appeared as the servers for our formal dinner had to attend to too many tables and therefore, even though they worked hard, our service was not great. One day, they brought the bread almost at dessert time. Our main server was very polite and worked hard but his assistent would come to fill water may be once in the begining of the service and once in the end of service. I also noticed that he would serve other tables often, and if we requested something, he would ignore or dissapear.

Lots of FuNN on Carnival Fantasy! by EmmaG1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The ship was great, we stayed in a suite because it is the only room with a balcony. I recommend getting a fountain pass , helps with the cost of the drinks, however does not include alcohol. I also recommend staying in the center of the ship, middle level, thats where we stayed and we did not feel the ship move at all. Also make sure to get an early dinner reservation, ours was at 8:30 and we missed a lot of shows beasue they start at that time. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way. Recommended to all!!

Not a good cruise by ChristineS5

The ship was old and needs to be updated. The food was terrible!!! The staff was so unfriendly! The gym does not have good equipment in it. I will not book another Carnival cruise again.

A long deserved family vacation! by KristiC3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

This was our first family vacation in almost 18 years. Our 3 teens overall had a great time, although there were not that many kids on this particular cruise. The older teen was quite bored until he found some other kids to interact with, I would have liked to had seen the youth staff for the older teens be more motivated to invite and have things for them as the 12-14 year olds did. My 13 & 14 year olds were never bored ! The beds were comfortable, the food was good, the service was fantastic! It was nice how personable and helpful the staff was. Our only disappointment was in the smaller lounges, the entertainment was not to our expectation. The main shows were great!

a so-so cruise by CharlieV1

typical cruise ship. Captain's party, superbowl party and entertainment excellent. Otherwise they were out to extract evey last dime from you. Everything way over priced. Cruise director was a total pain.

Not Our Cup of Tea by GaryL1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The ship was clean as possible with so many slovenly passengers on board. Really - people do you act like that at home? There did not seem to be many activities for active healthy people. Of course there is a gym with treadmills and a 150 meter track, but too many walkers to allow for a good run. The weight machines were limited but high quality. Food was adequate and the wait staff great. The entertainment was embarrassing. Every song sounded alike from the singers. The stage show was on par with a high school musical. I however blame myself for booking too quickly just to escape four days of the winter at home. We had only been on Holland America and this did not compare to their quality. However, this room was fairly large.

Great cruise, except private party! by DebL3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The Carnival Elation has been freshened up nicely; rooms are nice size and bathrooms are too. Camp Carnival was wonderful for my grandkids. Food was very good and wait staff was excellent. WARNING - ask Carnival if there will be any big private parties before boarding! There was a Jazz Festival aboard that reserved the big showroom most days and every evening; they played LOUD music until 2AM every night. Our four rooms were directly below which greatly disturbed everyone's sleep - unacceptable. And Carnival offered no compensation or adjustment for our distress...

A Memorable Family Cruise by MaryP2

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

This was by far one of our most memorable family trips. We had 13 family members in our group with ages from 7 to 66 and there were activities for each to enjoy. Quality of the food was outstanding. Customer service of all the cruise ship personnel we incountered far exceeded everyone's expectations...Our memories will last for ever..

vacation elation by WendyB1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

There were too many designated smoking areas. The casino allowed smoking yet had no enclosed walls so the smoke wafted all down the promenade. they allowed smoking in the library of all places! not enough quiet mellow places to read and soak up sun. there was either loud music and speaker announcements or smoking!

It was great and we would do it again. by GeorgeG6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

Overall the trip was excellent and we plan on going again next year. My only complaint is with the arrangements made through Alaska for our plane transportation. My wife and I were not seated together and the time we would have had to wait from the vessel to the plane was 7 hours. I made changes necessary for us to set together and for a different flight home. This cost me an extra $150.00 for changing the plane reservations.
