nice trip, great views by DeeA2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The ship was nice and clean employees great. I did not enjoy the yelling, vulgar language and actions of many many drunk guestss. I was told on the ship it is considered to be a party ship, and I should try another curise line with people who have respect for fellow travelers

Great staff; the rest a disappointment by LauraC2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

Carnival has commoditized fun; we felt like walking wallets being processed through a commercial money-extraction experience. We like cruising but our next cruise will definitely be on another cruise line.

Value for the money by PatriciaL7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The ship was clean, the staff professional. The common areas are beautiful, but the room and a few of the common areas were dated and somewhat worn. We rarely had to wait in line for anything. The shows were very good, but the theater is small, making it hard to get a seat. The pool area and the golf deck were very nice and well maintained. The food was good, but not excellent. The only true negative on this ship is a lack of heat. It was cold outside two days, and there was no way to heat the rooms. There is AC, but no heat.

Our first cruise by JenniferW1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The staff was remarkable. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The cabin stewards were thorough and fast. The only problem was the room was really dusty, like the kind of dust from lots of humans cohabitating in a small space. That was kind of gross. The bathroom and stateroom were pretty big, and the vanity was nice to have also. The food was marginal. The buffet was like a normal buffet that you would find anywhere, nothing really special about it. The restaurant food was good, and our waiter was above and beyond wonderful. He even brought us all an extra lobster tail on formal night!

Nice cruise by BigP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

It was clean like a first class hotel. There were many areas to go to relax or exercise. Very well organized for embarcation and debarcation. It surely was a fun time.

Good choice for First Cruise by JamieM47110771

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

This was our first cruise. I now know what to look for in our future cruising chips. Although all food is free, if you drink alcohol, prepare to pay a steep price. The shows were very amateur, comedian not very funny. I would book this trip again for the cheap price and length (3 days).

Had a nice time by DennisL1

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

Quaint ship. Definitely not one of the megaliners out there but not so small that you'd get bored on a 4 night cruise. Pool isn't heated, so if the weather hasn't been warm, be prepared for some cold water.

Very good, but not as good as Princess by LarryM5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The ship is reasonably spacious and the crew has a good service orientation. There are not as many shows and show lounges as on larger ships and the quality of the shows was not very good. Lots of kids, although the kid programs keep them occupied pretty well.

GREAT CRUISE FOR KIDS! by MarthaS1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

This was the second time I had travelled on the Elation, but the first with my grandchildren. They are 6 and 8. I worried that they might get bored, but Camp Carnival saved the day. They couldn't wait to get there and had to be dragged away. There are computers, games and many activities. The cruise was an excllent value overall. The crew was wonderful and gave special attention to the children. There is a miniture golf course as well as a slide in the pool. My grandson is a picky eater, but there was no problem with his meals because of the great varieties of food and the different food venues. There is a 24-hour pizza and ice cream available. On the downside, I was a little disappointed with the room service menu and the selection in the Lido (Tiffiny Grill). But, I will travel Carnival again with the children.

Carnival Cruise to Ensenada by JohnM10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

I have been on this cruise several times in the past. There is a noticeable difference in the friendliness of the staff. I almost feel bad for the employees as you can tell they do not want to be there. This was not always the case and is more of a recent issue. I guess now you are getting what you pay for with this low priced cruise.

Don't use the Spa! by David6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

We started out by sending my wife to the Spa and getting almost $600 in services to make her feel like a queen and get pampered. She came back to the room depressed that they told her she had a laundry list of things wrong with her skin and needed several hundred more dollars in products. That set the mood for the rest of the cruise.

A good cruise by AnnW9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

The stablizer on the ship must be damaged, it was extremely rocky. There was a lot of things to do, and see. The shows were entertaining and fun to see. There was lots of staff all over this ship. The weather was cool and rainy but since it was February that was expected. Everyone was very welcoming, always smiling and greeting you as you passed by in a hallway or when you arrived at your destination on the ship.

Good cruise with great entertainment by KevinH1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

This ship is well maintained for an older ship. The food is good, but I've had better on other cruises. The staff was as good as any, but the entertainment was better than most. Maybe the best we've every experienced. The comedian and hypnotist were both hilareous. The only bad thing about this cruise was the Pacific Ocean. This was our first and our last cruise in the Pacific. We'll stick to the Carribean from now on.

Grandma's birthday cruise by DionnaS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

My family sailed on the Carnival Elation in late January. The was a cruise for the whole family to celebrate grandma's birthday (13 of us in all). The ship is beautiful and well maintained. Always clean with a good variety of activities. Everyone seemed to have a great time and would disperse to different activities or gather together for meals as we saw fit.

All aboard the fun ship! by SpyderB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

We had a group of 16 and I'd definitely say that while cruising, more is merrier. And for the price, there was no good excuse not to go. We are already talking about our next trip.

Carnival Elation poor vs Royal Caribean by DaveC2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Elation / Destination: Mexico

We had high expectations after our Alaska Cruise on Royal Caribean so when Carnival Elation served Mac & Cheese along with 2 of the 3 main courses at dinner, we were disappointed. The evening meal service lacked the friendly professional decorum we enjoyed on the previous cruise and we chose to skip dinner twice when the menu lacked anything appealing. The Chateaubriand steak was tough and more like round steak then tenderloin. Fellow diners also commented how the food and service was sub standard compared to previous cruises.

this cruise was a good vacation for the money. The ship was a little confusing to get around in and the service was just average.
