Great service, medicore food, too many people by jenliu02

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We've been on serveral cruises on different cruise lines. While service is great, with 4500 passengers there were long lines to exit or board the ship. Serving 38,000 meals a day, makes it difficult to have really good food. I think some of the smaller carnival ships had more activities and better food. Great water slides for the kids. Overall, still an enjoyable time but not as good as some of the smaller ships.

Nothing that was promised, was honored by rhonnie66

Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We have been on several cruises, this one was by far, very disappointing.  When I booked through I called and spoke to an agent that was excited to help me find the perfect cruise to help me celebrate my 50th birthday.  We found the Carnival Dream cruise to the Caribbean, sailing out on July 3rd.  I made it very clear that we wanted a balcony to enjoy the panoramic views of the Caribbean ocean.  We received a state room with a port hole directly above the engines, during the entire cruise, our cabin vibrated so extremely bad that items in our bathroom were falling off the shelves.  I was also promised $50. on board credit, there was none, was told that my husband's military discount would help off set the cost of the balcony.  Also tickets to the Trace Adkins concert aboard the ship, again nothing.  I highly encourage a supervision to listen to the recording of my conversation with this young lady to verify the above details.  My husband also called to make final payment for cruise and reiterated the excitement for our balcony cruise.  Customer service aboard the Carnival Dream couldn't do anything to help us since we booked through .  I truly hope that someone reads this and understands the frustration I experienced.

Sincerely,

Kyle and Rhonda

It was "ok" by scor

I purchased a balcony suite for this cruise. It was a beautiful room, but the dust that had built up in there over time was inexcusable. There were a few minor problems (broken closet door, no tv remote, no tv service, etc) as well.  The staff was friendly and willingness ng to help, but response time left something to be desired. The main dining room service was extremely slow, albeit friendly and fun. The decor throughout the ship was dated, but generally clean and well maintained. The nightly show was excellent, and a highlight of our cruise, and the deck party midnight buffet was impressive.

Hornby Cruse by rhornby

There is not much to say. Comedy was good but lines terrible. Take out the elevators as EVERTONE waited way too long to get one, if they did get one! Press the button and the elevators still passed you buy. Best bet was to get on it ride the whole circle to get where you wanted to go. No supervision at the putt putt that was needed greatly. Better security. Only saw two security personnel during the whole trip. Require personnel to keep their pants up and use ear pieces when playing vulgar music.  Sorry to say this as it was a disappointment to us, but you wanted to know the best part of our trip and that was stepping back off it........................... Best Regards

Carnival Dream review by rnburley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The service on this Western 7 Day Caribbean cruise was outstanding.  Friendly, family, spirited staff.  Ship was very clean and the food was excellent in the main dinning rooms, brunch, and lido buffet.  Always something to do and good shows.  The pools were small, no adult only pool.  The dancing parties on Deck left much to be desired.  Overall had A great time and can't wait for my next cruise.

Great times by oasis570

We had a Great time! Our room was perfect for us too. That's a lot of people to manage on such a ship but the staff are superb! We couldn't get over the number of performers who put on each show too

Had a great time but had disappointments also by dengsguy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise itself was fun.  The excursions we went on were a blast.  One I thought was not as safe for the kids because it was in the middle of the sea.  The on and off boat there was too unsafe I think for smaller kids.

The main disappointments were the buffet line.  Long lines no matter what time you went.  We ate at the restaurant all but once.  I did not like that the pool was salt water but was ok.  Setup for buffet should be better.  The service was average.  Although they were not approachable.  They would answer and help but you felt like they had to or were just fulfilling their job.  We experienced 100% better on another cruise line.  One employee at the buffet told me my child was a troublemaker and walked off, when all we did was get in line.  Service I would rate 1-2 stars.  Overall 3.  Might look at other cruises before carnival again.

Poor Guest Services by brandywinchester

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

From the time we arrived there were issues with our sail and sign account and guest services could do little to resolve it. When we brought the issues to their attention all they did was offer us a free drink. Meanwhile we could not access our account and had no purchasing power. We continuously had to stand in long lines ( at one point we wired over an hour and half) for guest services.

Had a great time. by kielbeloy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

Had a great time with the excursions and time at sea. Our kids ranged from 11 to 17.  So we were a but apprehensive with the kids attending the 3 different age groups but at the end of the trip, they all had blast and made new friends.

There was a magician (silent act) that was horrible but can't win them all.  Still had a great time with the other comedians and the break dancers!

A true vacation! by lathecia79

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

the best part is it worry free... Everything is taken care of . You wake and go! The ports where great! My room steward always did a fabulous job! The food wasn't bad but being from Louisiana I'm used to better seasons. Ice cream and burgers all day where great! The pool and hot tubs where useful on sea days. There is never a dull moment unless you choose it.

Carnival Dream bad service by Dphillips5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have cruise Carnival numerous times and are gold status. We felt like the service of Carnival has gone hill so fast. Our last cruise was 2 years ago on the Magic and went on the sister ship Dream this year. The service was not good. It took 20min plus to get a drink from a server and then when you went to the bar you would wait average of 10+ minutes there as well. We had the drink plan which would normally be a great deal but they make it so hard to even get 15 drinks a day with there service so we will not be doing that next time.  If we cruise with Carnival at all again.  They only service your cabin now once a day and the room service menu has gone down to almost nothing. Not to mention there are more items they charge you for from room service and now in the dinning room. So sad to see this happen.

overall cruise by kam4945

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My favorite part of the cruise was everything is plan for you, you can do as much are a little that you want to do. The show in the evening were awesome, the crew workers were very helpful, the food was great. it was our first cruise every and we will definitely be taking another cruise with this cruise line. My only complaint is that it was a little hot in our room. Our room was inside so not sure if that is why but overall the best vacation ever...r....HappyHappyLoveYummy

Good cruise, 3.5 stars by jjstockton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Best Part was Camp Ocean. It & the staff were absolutely fantastic.

Food was good, but not awesome.

Not having the Lido restaurant open after mid afternoon was the worst part.

Ports were good, except for the outrageous photo prices in Cozumel. This was

the first time we have tendered not using life boats. That was nice.

Jase is the best Cruise Director I have ever had (10 cruises). Tell him I will await              the check arriving in the mail.

Need port talks.

Need guest lecturers.

Cabin staff were super as always.

We usually travel in a suite, but cut back this time due to financing a room for us &

a room for our daughter & her 2. The rooms were very satisfactory. The

TV accounts took some getting used to.

I would definitely sail Carnival again if the itinerary I wanted was available.

A comment about porter availability & location would have been nice on

          disembarkation.

Western Caribbean by lisaj825

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Dream / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Wish there was more activities for singles. There was a LGBT gathering every night, but none for singles. But I guess that is the new thing, catering to the gays, etc. Wish there was a casino area with no smoking. Would love to gamble a little, but cannot deal with the smoke. Didn't like the singer/guitarist Amy.. music too dark and depressing. Other than those few things, everything was great.
