Review summary

We have cruise Carnival numerous times and are gold status. We felt like the service of Carnival has gone hill so fast. Our last cruise was 2 years ago on the Magic and went on the sister ship Dream this year. The service was not good. It took 20min plus to get a drink from a server and then when you went to the bar you would wait average of 10+ minutes there as well. We had the drink plan which would normally be a great deal but they make it so hard to even get 15 drinks a day with there service so we will not be doing that next time.  If we cruise with Carnival at all again.  They only service your cabin now once a day and the room service menu has gone down to almost nothing. Not to mention there are more items they charge you for from room service and now in the dinning room. So sad to see this happen.

Michael our cabin steward was great but our shower kept stopping up. He did get it fixed the night before we left.

Ship tip

Consider either another ship or a different cruise line.

That's interesting to know. I have never been on carnival, so this is news. I know with RCI, they are doing some things differently for "Save the waves" so maybe this is Carnival's attempt at trying to be more conscientious with their laundry and waste?

They may be claiming that they are servicing the room once per day for ecology's sake, but there will still be the same amount of trash and laundry generated per room no matter how often they clean it. It is more likely that they are cutting the steward staff by half, and the staff is physically unable to provide the service that is customary. Not the fault of the steward, but of the line itself.

They do have a sign in the bathroom saying to put towels on the floor that you want replaced. If you want to keep using certain towels leave them on the towel holder. I think they are doing that so they don't have to do as much laundry. On all of my cruises, I do see a lot of room service plates left out in the hall with wasted food. I think that is why they are cutting back on the menu. Too many people wasting too much food.

The stewards (some, not all) are giving a misleading opener when the introduce themselves.‚ They politely ask if you want morning OR‚ evening, which leads guests to believe that is their only option. Those of us who know differently know we can still get twice a day.

I cannot really blame them. They are doing more with less and it certainly takes its toll.

I do not need twice day, but others may, especially if they have a cabin with kids or 4-5 people.‚

If they were servicing your cabin only once a day, that was because you misunderstood. You have the option of choosing morning service, evening service, OR BOTH. And the only things I saw on the MDR menu for which they charge are the Steakhouse selections...and there is so much more on the menu than those. And yes, I have indeed been on The Dream recently...just this past January, in fact.
