Not the best one ever by KathyO4

This ship was fine. It would impress a first time cruiser. I thought compared to other cruises that I have been on that the cruise staff was not nearly as friendly. The cruise director and staff were good. Our waiter and busboy were good. The folks at the pursor's desk were good but others did not go out of their way to be friendly. Especially those at security and the embarkation/disembarkation point for each port of call.

Comments on the cruise by NancyD7

The ship was clean and neat. The service was good and the shows were pretty good. There was a lot of activity on the ship, not wild about bingo, but there were several things to do.

Just OK! Alittle disappointing! by TeresaT2

Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship "Conquest" was not as spacious and "wide open " as some of the other ships I have been on. This was my 7th cruise. Especially the "grand atruim". I felt a little closed in. The elevators were all situated together and were hard to come by. Very congested. Many times we just bite the bullet and walked up to our floor (10th). We ate in the "Renoir" dinning room up in the top level. Try not to get stuck up there. You feel very cut off from the main dinning room. The head waiter never came up to introduce himself. There are no windows only screen barriers as there are life boats on the other side. However, the service was great and food was good. Our large party was separated and was told that due to our large number this was the best they could do. They said we could play "musical chairs". On the "Lido" deck . the common tables were not cleaned in a timely manner and you found yourself eating with other dirty dishes and having to move dirty ashtrays. But the "bar waiters" were all around to take your order. I find that the "Carnival" rooms are a little more spacious than some of the other ships. We had a balcony room and it was nice. However, I had to ask the room steward 3 times to unlock my refrigerator and provide ice. I finally had to go and get ice myself. But he was very nice and after the first day-the service was good. However, our friends across the hall never did get their refrigerator open. Overall, we had a good time and I would recommend this cruise. One more item-avoid the "Margaritaville tour " on Negril beach in Jamaica. Use a taxi and do it yourself if you must go. At Negril beach- it was very crowded-not enough beach chairs and they were all on top of each other. They had two bars -understaffed-for over 100 people or it seemed. You had a long wait to get service and the drinks were very expensive. Overall a very frustrating experience. I would instead take a taxi to the Margaritaville beach in Mont ego Bay where we were docked. The entertainment was very good. Ralph and Henri the cruise directors were awesome.

It was O.K. by DeborahM2890424

I can name 4 staff members that were friendly to us the whole trip. Food was boring, tastless, same thing over and over. No variety. staff would give you a dirty look if you didnt want a "Drink of the day" if you only wanted water staff were hard to find. Catered to the "The younger crowd"Cruise was very loud by staff screaming into the microphone by the pool, for activities. State room was dirty found Black hairs all over the bed, Balcony was half painted, and very dirty. Dining waiter friendly at times Food served cold, boring, tastless, and the size of my thumb nail.

Great time by CrystalR3

The ship was beautiful. However we had a few problems with our room. The tiolet had problems flushing several times and the A/C vent rattled a lot at night. But, our friends didn't have any problems with thier room. We just got the cruddy room I guess. But, the food was fantastic. The ship was gorgeous. No rocking at all.

Carnival Conquest - Bigger and Better by DavidD15

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Having sailed with carnival 7 times on spirt class ships, it was so nice to finally see and sail on one of thier bigger ships. Size does matter, the decks and public areas are extensive and rarely overcrowded, we rarely had problems finding seating in the shade, sun or lounges. The deck party was expansive and inclusive of all.

Had a Great Time by A51

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a great time! Our room was clean and kept clean the whole time! The ship was fairly clean too! We loved the Ports of Call, except Jamaica, which I am glad we went and enjoyed the climb up the falls, but found it dirty, pushy and a little scary. The only complaint we had was the quality of the food. We never had a "wonderful" meal. The food was average. I very rarely send food back, no matter where I am, but several nights, I left food or sent it back because it tasted so bad. I think all the ships are going to the "pay for the wonderful food" I think that is a real shame. Lots of people go on the cruise ships for the food, they will probably be very disappointed. We have cruised several times and this was the worst food we had on any cruise. Don't get me wrong...there was some food that was good. The 24 hours Pizza was great, the Hamburgers on Deck were great. The Chinese was a problem. The chicken was not cooked through, so we took it back. The buffet food was just ok, at best! The food in the dining room was average, that is where I sent back 3 things that were just plain inedible. Go on the cruise. Enjoy the ports, the shows, which were good, the people who take care of you and the fun! Just don't expect the "wonderful" food!!

great cruise by PatW8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have nothing to compare to but I found the Carnival Conquest a comfortable ship to sail on and she handled the seas well. We had a balcony stateroom which afforded a less cramped atmosphere in the cabin. The decor was not breathtaking but I did not expect it to be on a party ship. There was a shortage of hot tubs as they were full most of the time otherwise there were plenty of ammenities aboard. The Lido deck restrooms at times could have been cleaned more often especially during activity times. We were on deck 8 and did notice that the glass elevators would bypass that floor for some reason even when the elevator was not full.

Carnival Western Caribbean Cruise by Lbj

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a nice cruise, despite the unfortunate weather (cold front) that rolled in, causing very, very unstable sea conditions. Most other cruise ships bypassed the Grand Cayman port because of the poor conditions, but Carnival went for it. Although I commend our captain for forging ahead, most of the excursions were cancelled due to the bad weather, so that left only shopping and the beach (it was cloudy and 68 degrees), and passengers had to be tendered to another pier, quite a ways away. So, we just stayed on the ship and relaxed, although there was nothing to do on the ship because everything was closed (required when in port). But Jamaica (our first stop) was lovely, and Cozumel (our last stop) was awesome. We have 10 and 12 year old children and there was PLENTY for them to do. I've been on a Carnival cruise before, and hesitated to book again, due solely to my less than favorable experience of long lines everywhere. But, even though the ship accommodated 3,000+ passengers, there were no major lines anywhere. And, there were plenty of deck chaise lounges for everyone. The crew kept everything cleaned and organized, which was a big bonus, in my mind.

A romantic ship by Lisab11

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This ship is wonderfully decorated. Unfortunately the designer used nude women in a dance room which carnival conquest uses for 18 and under dance areas and gatherings! The family shows (ALL the shows, even magicians) use women in "vegas" style clothing, meaning they wear thongs! Totally inappropriate. The daily music...jazz, classical, regaee all were in smoking rooms!

Very unhappy with cruise by DaniB1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It became very clear from the moment we got to the ship of the disorganization and lack of customer service. WE stood in line with three small children for FIVE hours withont once seeing a Carnival Representative to give us an update or some direction. We therefore missed our first port of call and then while on the boat ended up missing our second port of call due to a storm. This lack of updates and disorganization continued throughout our cruise. It was truly amazing. We were very pleased with the Disney Cruise and never encountered such incompetence. The Disney Cruise always exceeded our expectations. Carnival cruise always let us down on a daily basis.

Excellent on-board experience by JimmyM64791360

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We took this cruise to celebrate our 7th anniversary. The date we were to depart was our anniversary. However, something unusual happened and we were fogged in at the port of Galveston. The Port Authority closed the port overnight and we were not allowed to depart until around 1:30pm the next day. Of course, this put us far enough behind schedule that we missed the port of call at Jamaica. The Cruise Director gave everyone a $75 on-board credit as a result of this. We were still on schedule to make the ports of call at Grand Cayman & Cozumel. The on-board activities were amazing. There was so much to do that there was no way we could possibly see or do everything. Shows, entertainment, games, activities....just lots to do. Our stateroom had a private balcony. It was a great experience to be able to sit on the balcony at night and look out over the water. A few days into the cruise and two days before we were to arrive at Grand Cayman, it was announced that a tropical storm had formed and was on track to be at Grand Cayman the very day we were scheduled arrive. Taking safety into consideration, the decision was made to abort the Grand Cayman port of call and get us into Cozumel a day earlier than scheduled. Since we missed Grand Cayman, the cruise line was able to pick up an alternate port of call at Progreso, Mexico. Cozumel was a nice port of call. It was very beautiful and the water was the perfect blue that you always see in pictures. We did the dolphin swim and ride excursion and had a blast. Then we went jewelry shopping at Diamonds International. They had some great deals there. After a fun and exhausting day, we went back aboard the ship. Progreso was a disappointment and did not compare to Grand Cayman. We went into the marketplace in the town, but did not feel very safe, so we went back on board and stayed there the rest of the day. It was not very clean, either. As for the on-board experience, the staff were excellent. The Cruise Director was a lot of fun and was very entertaining. He had a ventriloquist and comedian on board who performed shows. They were hilarious. Since the cruise had a couple of things go wrong, he added some entertainers along the way, including another comedian and a magician. Those were great shows. Overall, we had a fabulous time. Sure, we missed some ports of call, but there was nothing the cruise line could have possibly done about that. They cannot control the weather and we would prefer to be safe on our cruise. Kudos to them for still being able to give us a great experience. We are ready to go again and would recommend this ship and cruise line to anyone. In fact, we already have.
