Review summary

We took this cruise to celebrate our 7th anniversary. The date we were to depart was our anniversary. However, something unusual happened and we were fogged in at the port of Galveston. The Port Authority closed the port overnight and we were not allowed to depart until around 1:30pm the next day. Of course, this put us far enough behind schedule that we missed the port of call at Jamaica. The Cruise Director gave everyone a $75 on-board credit as a result of this. We were still on schedule to make the ports of call at Grand Cayman & Cozumel. The on-board activities were amazing. There was so much to do that there was no way we could possibly see or do everything. Shows, entertainment, games, activities....just lots to do. Our stateroom had a private balcony. It was a great experience to be able to sit on the balcony at night and look out over the water. A few days into the cruise and two days before we were to arrive at Grand Cayman, it was announced that a tropical storm had formed and was on track to be at Grand Cayman the very day we were scheduled arrive. Taking safety into consideration, the decision was made to abort the Grand Cayman port of call and get us into Cozumel a day earlier than scheduled. Since we missed Grand Cayman, the cruise line was able to pick up an alternate port of call at Progreso, Mexico. Cozumel was a nice port of call. It was very beautiful and the water was the perfect blue that you always see in pictures. We did the dolphin swim and ride excursion and had a blast. Then we went jewelry shopping at Diamonds International. They had some great deals there. After a fun and exhausting day, we went back aboard the ship. Progreso was a disappointment and did not compare to Grand Cayman. We went into the marketplace in the town, but did not feel very safe, so we went back on board and stayed there the rest of the day. It was not very clean, either. As for the on-board experience, the staff were excellent. The Cruise Director was a lot of fun and was very entertaining. He had a ventriloquist and comedian on board who performed shows. They were hilarious. Since the cruise had a couple of things go wrong, he added some entertainers along the way, including another comedian and a magician. Those were great shows. Overall, we had a fabulous time. Sure, we missed some ports of call, but there was nothing the cruise line could have possibly done about that. They cannot control the weather and we would prefer to be safe on our cruise. Kudos to them for still being able to give us a great experience. We are ready to go again and would recommend this ship and cruise line to anyone. In fact, we already have.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Wow. I knew the food quality would be good, but I never imagined it to be this good! Excellent quality of food with lots of different choices. Even the pickiest of eaters could add a few pounds on this cruise.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Lots of shows in the theater including a ventriloquist, magician, and 2 comedians. It's been a while since I've laughed that hard at a comedian. We appreciated the daily itineraries of activities that we were given. It allowed us to plan our days and what we would do for fun.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Ship staff were the best. The waitstaff at the restaurant remembered our names and what we liked to drink. The staff who cleaned the room were very friendly and courteous. Everywhere we went that we encountered ship staff, we were impressed at the level of professionalism and the way they seemed to truly enjoy their job. The Cruise Director was awesome, too.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was huge. Large, majestic, and very beautiful. We noticed at a port of call that workers were painting an area and servicing the ship. We also noticed that workers were constently sweeping and cleaning the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I absolutely loved our stateroom. It was very clean and did not feel like we were on a ship. There were nice decorations and it was very comfortable.

The Dolphinaris with the dolphin swim & ride was fabulous. We had a great time with this excursion. We also went shopping and bought some great jewelry at Diamonds International.
Don't Miss: The dolphin swim & ride at the Dolphinaris.

Pros: Staff was wonderful. Lots to do on the ship. Cruise Director was fun & entertaining.

Cons: Charging for softdrinks from the fountain.
