All in all, a good trip by CarlM1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was clean, and well cared for, for an older ship. It is not as outlandishly decorated as some of the ones out of Miami. THe staff was excellent, on all levles. They train them well. As a 58 y.o. person, they gave me a room with lumpy BUNK beds. My arms could reach across the room. I went down to request a different room, and they refused (ever so diplomatically) 3 times. Climbing out of the bed on their flimsy ladder, I fell and sprained my ankle. There is always food available, at nites consisting of pizza and burgers. They serve you whatever you want on the menu, and will bend over backwards to get you what you ask. DO listen to your waiter's recommendations. Their soups are generally good. I think that they need new chefs. They can take a perfectly good steak, shrimp, or other nice peice of entre and make it taste only fair. There didn't seem to be a whole lot of nite life on the boat. Although there were a lot of different ages and socioeconomic levels of people, there really didn't seem to be a whole lot of singles activity, excepting in the teenage groups. People were all friendly and open. I liked this boat better than the Royal Carribean Lines, because the age group seemed younger, and a little more lively. Food was definitely better on the RCL. I have been on the RCL and Carnival out of Galveston 5 times, with a male friend. Neither of us is "hamburger" and we have never hooked up with a female. I have always met women when cruising out of Florida. One thing that dorve me nuts is that there was only one small place on the boat, that you can find peace and quiet on deck. It is the 3rd floor near the Pursers counter. Otherwise day and night, you are tormented by tinny music. They should make some place on the boat where you can find peace and quiet-- one of the reasons to take a cruise is to enjoy the wind and nature from the boat. Pools: there were two, very, very small. one had a thousand chairs lined around it, so that you could bake in the sun all day. Very little shade, and summertime is hot. PORTS: The reason that I chose this itinerary, is because it stopped in Key West, yes Key West. People are nice. They speak English, and they don't try to screw you. Jamaica is the worst-don't get off the boat. Cozumel is one large scam. they even charge you to take pictures at the Mayan ruins, There are no deals. Freeport is not worth getting off the ship. Nassau had a nice beach. GO around the back of the hotel to the public beach to avoid paying $60 for the Paradise Island hotel "beach and lunch". Caymens is a good place to get off, as long as you don't sign up for one of the boat "diving trips". Every trip offered by the cruise ship, is MUCH less if you simply get off the ship, in port, and ask the many locals offering the exact same service. The day before you arrive back home, the boat's stores start offering discounted prices, so save your shopping for the last full day. Liquors and sodas will get you, so bring yours on board, in your luggage. Carnival has been doing this for years, and they have it down to an art. It is the low cost provider, but you definitely get your money's worth.

Enjoyed - 5 day cruise better by ColleenH2

Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Great ship and crew. Unfortunately we picked a week when 1/3 of the 3500+ travelers were children which may be the reason that the music all over the ship was so loud it was hard if even able to hold a conversation while on deck. And we heard many a complaint regarding this issue. Smoking was prevalent and worse we had to walk through the smoke and foul smell of the casino area to dine in our designated restaurant, Monet.

The Best vacation I've ever had by LawrenceM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My wife and I just got married two months ago and this was our honeymoon. We both step on board not knowing what to expect. I admit, that when I first got on it was all WAY overwhelming, but thats a good thing. The room service people are so friendly and are like little ninjas. You can step away from the room for like 5 min. and your room will be cleaned. The food is excellent, if you have the money I HIGHLY recommend the supper club, book it early though. The shows were awsome and very entertaining. It is very family oriented. They have things for your kids during the day and even little hangout places for kids, like a hangout club. I give this a 5/5 and am already planning another cruise.

We had a wonderful time on our honeymoon aboard the Carnival Conquest. We sailed from Galveston and went to Jamaica and the Grand Caymon. The staff and crew onboard the Conquest were awesome and the food was great too. Too many things to write! I recommend this cruise to anyone and everyone.

Very Nice ship. by chiefw4160

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was very nice and the service and food served was excellent. Since they cancelled the day in Cozumel because of the flue they should have picked another port to visit. The $20 ship credit did not make up for five days at sea. Only Carnival benefited because they sold more drinks and people played in the casino more. Several passengers received last minute deals because of cancellations and only paid 1/4 the cost I paid for the same cruise and stateroom. I would never book another cruise with five days at sea. Having 3000 guests on the ship really filled the pool deck, making it almost impossible to use the pools. The casino at night was the same way. It was hard to get a slot machine. Grand cayman was very nice. I did not like Jamaica and would not spend a dime to vacation on that island. This was my first long cruise and it was ok but I would have enjoyed more time off the ship. I would not do this cruise again.

A relaxing cruise by LindaM37

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship is really pretty. The casino was rather small for the size of the ship. They have an excellent buffet, the food was really quite good, this was our 9th cruise and we enjoyed the food alot, they have such a selection with several places to choose to eat at no additional cost. They have a 24 hour pizza buffet and ice cream parlor. The pools and the hot tub deck was quite over crowded.. Their work-out facility is very nice and you are also able to utilize their steam room and sauna at no additional charge, this was relaxing. They have a big screen on the pool deck and you are able to see what is going on on deck from almost any of the upper decks by looking at the big screen. At night they play movies and it is very relaxing to lay out in the deck chairs or rockers they have available and watch the movie.

Holy Cow! Carnival rocks! by JohnS18

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was extremely clean and the entire staff was very friendly and helpful. This was our first cruise and I was very skeptical about cruising. I have been transformed into a cruise fan. I would take a Carnival every month if I could. We hope to be booking another cruise in the bear future. The cruise director, Chris Jefferson, was unbelievably funny, informative, and a complete delight. Our cabin steward, Ernesta, was fantastic. I can't give Raj and his assistance in the Renoet restaurant enough praise. The ship was easy to navigate and the Capers were wonderful. The entire experience was exceptional.

Nothing spectacular by RalphC

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The opening show, "Point and Click" was terrible. The singers sounded like lounge singers. The dancers were very good and got better as the cruise went on. The main dining food was boring and in some cases, plain bad. The Point diner was excellent! Our table partners wound up eating there 4 out of the 7 nights. The activities were the same as other Carnival cruises. The shore excursions were pretty good. In Gran Cayman, we went to "Hell" and it was exactly that. It needs to be dropped from the agenda.

Everyone should go on this cruise, no matter what age you are, the senior citizens tend to bulldoze there way thru you, so move aside ahead of time. We had an awesome time.

Good vacation by BeaA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was the best vacation we've taken. I would of liked an indoor theater and more activities for adults to do during the day that didn't require paying money. I don't think they should charge for pilates, yoga and the bingo was very expensive.

What a great vacation! by AmyS9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Carnival Conquest has the best crew. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. There was such a variety of food in their different dining areas, something for everyone. The room was actually a good size. The ship is so big, you never realize how many people are actually on the ship. Everyone is so spread out among the different bars, stores, sitting areas, pools, etc. I enjoyed all of the food and entertainment. I got sticker shock when I saw the price of drinks...not only alcoholic beverages, but sodas as well. That pushed our bill up quite a bit, but I still enjoyed it.

butiful ship, well maintained, extreamly clean, we sailed around two stormes the last night of the cruise. This was very considerate of the captin, in order to give us a smothe ride. The gallie is located in the middle of the ship, so you must go up to a higher floor to go from one end of the ship to the other, very in convenient.
