A great boat, but lacking in some areas. by JerrodM

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The boat is awesome. Of the 4 cruises I have gone on, this boat was the best. The main theater was 3 stories high and had stadium seating. This was a refreshing change from the low ceiling, flat theaters on other ships I've been on. The entertainment in the theater, was however pretty poor. It seemed like the performers (singers and dancers in the productions shows) were very new. They were out of sync on their dancing and there was really no storyline to any of the performances. There was only 1 male and 1 femaile singer...none of the other dancers did any singing or speaking. It was just a compilation of songs with (poorly) coreographed dancing. After the first few songs of each performance, it got very boring and more of the same. There was a comedy club where they had about 4 different commedians that performed nearly every night several shows. I only attended the family friendly shows, but none of them were "great". They each got a few good laughs out of me, but overall weren't very funny. One of the cool things on the boat was the Karaoke with a live band. That was a cool experience. The band was good and made the Karaoke experience much better than those MIDI players I've seen on other cruises. The buffets were all very poor. The selection was slim and none of the hot food was very good. Fruit also was not as fresh as other cruises I've been on. The food in the main dining room was good for dinner (again, not as good as other cruise lines, but still, I did not have any bad meals for dinner). Breakfast and lunch were just average. The service on the ship was good, but again not as "Outstanding" as say Royal Caribbean or others. Waiter/Attendants paid special attention to our young children, which was nice, and they were very accommodating with special food orders, but I've been spoiled in the past where waiters would seed the lemons they put on the table and just go the extra mile in about every aspect. This ship had the nicest, biggest staterooms of any cruise I've been on. We had outside rooms on floor 1 (about the cheapest you can get) and they were awesome. They had a king bed and a couch/bed. With my wife and 2 children, we were very comfortable in the room. We also sailed with my parents who got an adjoining room...this was awesome! The kids stayed in our room, but we kept the doors open between the rooms open when we wanted to go out and they could hear them if they stirred after asleep. This allowed my wife and I to go out without the kids at night and let Grandma watch them from the next room. I wasn't crazy about the itinerary. We had 2 days at sea, then 3 days in a row at ports, then another day at sea. I would have preferred 1 day at sea, 1 day at port, next day at sea, etc. It is true what they say, Carnival is targeted at the younger, party croud. Some of the production shows had only 1 showtime for the day...10PM. We didn't end up going to any of those late shows, because 1: The shows weren't that good, and 2: It was too late for kids or old people. We did see a lot of old people on the cruise, but I suspect it was due to the price or convenience of the port and they probably did not get to enjoy the full "Cruise" experience. Overall, this was a great cruise and I have no MAJOR complaints. We had fun, the room was kept clea, the ports were great.

I was not impressed over all by MarkH3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

First of all the room was right above a lounge and it was so load that our whole room shook and sleeping was impossible. So at the end of the next day they moved us and said we would be compensated for the bad room but they never did it. The service in the rooms was good but to eat dinner was lines and more lines and bad wait times, they should take lessons from Norwegian Cruise Lines they have no lines for food. Most of the service was good but unless it is way cheap I wont cruise with then again. This was the 2nd time with them and I was not impressed over all.

Of the 5 or 6 cruises I've been on, This certainly rates as one of the best. The crew, the meals, the entertainment, cleanliness, courtesy were the best. I highly recommend this Cruise Ship.

Nice cruise but some drawbacks! by JackR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall a good trip. We had an interior cabin on the main deck (level 2) and forward. Room 2207. There was a loud banging sound every 20-30 seconds for long periods of time. I was told that this was wave action hitting the side of the ship. It was so loud (like dropping a grand piano) that I didn't get a lot of sleep. This didn't happen all of the time but did during rougher weather. However the weather was considered moderate. I highly recommend getting a room away from the forward part of the ship.and up higher.

It was a great experience by PatriciaS1

I have travelled on different Carnival ships, but this one was great. The people who attended the ship was remarkable friendly and polite. The ship itself was very clean, and service was high class, clean towels, clean rooms, everything was great. The dining facility was also wonderful, but I ate most of my dinner in the restaurant (Monet). This place had the most friendly waiters and servers and they cater to your needs. The food was fantastic and the "SHOW TIME" was great.......... WOW........ The entertainment, during my cruise we had a band from Trinidad and Tobago, what fantastic music. In fact, I just adore them and follow their schedule performances at the ship. The Latino band was also great and the shows and comedy, in fact all the entertainment was great. I will definitely travel on this ship.

Cruises are not for everyone! by RogerD3

If you are looking to save money purchase a ticket because thats where it ends. Everything on the ship is overpriced, everything has a gratuity slapped on top of it. The cooking staff is rude and hardly smiles when they complete your request. If they did it they made you feel like they doing you a favor. The Jamaica port by far was the worst, i dont know why carnival travels here. You cant even walk or swim 5 feet without someone trying to sell you something, not everything legal for that matter. They should hit cancun after cozumel. There is nothing really on board for latin people besides one musical group, latin grouve they were great. Other than that i did not enjoy the experience. I will not be returning to a cruise ship anytime soon.

Disappointing to say the least. by GeneR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship is well layed out and there is plenty of space. We felt the crew, and staff allowed way to much space and leniency to smoking. We had smoke in our cabin, hallways, general public areas, even in the dining areas. There were areas set aside for smoking, but generally they were ignored. We complained several times to guest services, with no real response other than they could not control what people did in their rooms, or other areas. We went to several areas of entertainment and found most of the singing to be very loud and mostly screaming, instead of singing. The dancing on some occasions was offensive and really not geared toward family entertainment. We ate mostly in the dining areas, and found the staff to be very accomodating, but most food was served lukewarm in temperature on most occasions.

Carnival Conquest by NancyG1

My efforts to get a hold of in regards to my free hotel night stay remain unanswered. I was promised through your promotion a free hotel stay which I yet to receive. I hope you will send me my free night stay so I can print it out and use in future. As far as my cruise.... It was great but a bit long. Next time I will do five days. My husband had an accident and we needed an eye doctor's attention.

A good time was had... by CapriG

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We really enjoyed the trip(s) but they were a little too neat and tidy. No real taste of the place - more like "protect the Americans from anything untidy." Boat was fun and room was more than adequate. Had a good time but probably won't go again.

Experience of a lifetime! by MaryA9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first cruise and we were on the Carnival Conquest. Except for the photography studio staff, the rest of the crew and staff were exceptional! They were all professional and attended to our every need. The ship was clean, the food was delicious, the drinks were great, and the activities and shows onboard were so much fun! My husband and I can't wait to go again, and again, and again!!! Chris, the Cruise Director, really added to the enjoyment of our cruise.

"An Unforgetable Cruise Experience" by josefinaS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Conquest / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I have cruised before to the Meditereanean. Our first time to take the Caribbean through the Galveston Port. We found the cruise ship very clean, friendly crew, lots of different places to eat and have a grand time. There was several places to go dancing or just listen to good music and relax, meet lots of people, drink and play in the casino, or attend different activities aboard the ship not counting the excursions offered by the cruise ship. We were having a great time meeting a lot of different people coming from all over. Even though we stayed in the inner cabin for the 1st time, it wasn't bad at all. In fact, it was great because we had good nite sleep not being bothered by the light coming from outside. "I'll do it again !" Dining was very pleasant with great waitresses who does fast excellent service. You can order anything even special food the night before to be served the next day! Our room is always fixed with these different cute "animal" folded towels every evening. The bathrooms are always clean and orderly. The pools are always emptied and cleansed for the following day! We were never hungry no matter what time it was! During excursions, the disembarcation is very orderly same as the embarkation. We did not find any problem with the excursions and we have enjoyed practically each and every one of the days we did went out. All of the friends we met at the ship said the same thing. Sailing back home was sad because we wanted to have stayed longer. We have met couples that have cruised 21 times with the ship! Amazing!!!! And I can say this that I am already thinking of going again very soon if me and my husband would be given another chance. Like I said.."I'll do it again" and thanks to Carnival Conquest for such a remarkable experience they have rendered all the visitors on the ship. More power to all the crew members, the captain who kept us safe during the sail and to our Mither 'D who orchestrated the devine dinning every evening for all their guest.. Thanks. Josefina Salvo
