Port Double Booked??com by ufontaine5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We were very excited to have 4 ports to experience on this cruise and that is the reason we traveled to Miami, instead of sailing from Port Canaveral which is much closer to our home.  The morning we were to dock at the Curacao port, the Captain announced that the port had been "double-booked" and that we would not be able to dock.  All shore excursions were cancelled.  How in the world can a port be double booked?  Who is to blame here? That is the only explanation we were ever given and is simply unacceptable.  We finally docked at 7 p.m and were offered a $50.00 per person onboard credit, which is laughable. 1/4 of my trip destinations is only worth $50?  How about someone take responsibility for this huge screw up and offer us a larger refund? Very unsatisfied with the entire handling of this and won't sail Carnival again.

Not the best... by skullislandc412

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

First two days had a total shut down of all waterworks activities due to weather. Had nothing to replace activities. When they finally did open we found many of the waterworks sprayers NOT working and the bucket no longer dumps. Orange twisty slide hurt my son's back to where it is now bruised. Never got into one of the ports due to overbooking??? How does that happen?? We got a $50 credit for inconvenience.

Carnival Breeze Christmas Cruise by BudDLuv

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The cruise aboard the Breeze was fine.  Our room steward Arya did a fantabulous job.  The staff of both Carnival and Vacation Outlet was courteous good and helpful.  For the ship to be such a large ship, I was surprised at how much the shipped rocked from side to side.  But overall we had a nice cruise.

Not bad but not great by esharden1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I really enjoyed my time off of the ship, and i enjoyed the amenities on the ship...what disappointed me was the food. The best thing I ate on the ship was a burger from Guy's Burger Joint. The food at the Captains dinner was mediocre...I just expected a lot better in general and I was disappointed. I had a great time at all the stops and it was fun on the ship and everything went smoothly.

Sadly disappointed by feliciaskemp

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was my honeymoon, and I was so excited. My experience was not headed to a go start when I saw everyone with cases of  water and sodas and bottles of wine. I was told by that carnival did not allow passengers to bring water and that is not true. You can bring one case of water and one 12 pack of soda per person. I was also promise that a cake would be in my room due to my honey, and it was not there. I had to call carnival and ask about my cake but since my husband heard my conversation it ruined my surprise. I had a balcony room at it was ok. I had to complain several times because I did not receive my towel animals as promised, also the attendant keep putting dirty glasses in my room.  The food was ok but it could have been better. The room service was ok my food often was cold. I could go on and on but I don't have the time . I think I should have tried a different cruise line and also I will book directly with the cruise line because when booking with a travel agency carnival always refers you back to the agency when you have issues .I hope this helps

Carnival Breeze December 2015 by jasmcculloch

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was very good with lots of space in different areas to sit or sunbath. The food on the Lido was varied and good quality and we used this for breakfast and lunch. The food in the dining room was also good quality and there was a choice on all courses but the choices were not always to our taste and Broccoli seemed to predominate as a vegetable. The entertainment (shows) was reasonable but nothing exceptional.

NOT THE BEST CARNIVAL CRUISE by gea4957

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Too large a ship without the service to support the passengers. Will not cruise on this class of ship again. Long lines for eats, longer lines for disembarkation of the ship. Collecting luggage a nightmare. Customer service desk lines long and slow moving.

Customer service desk was horrendous\charged for items not bought\never followed up as stated by jhand

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I have cruised 4 times with carnival and never had a problem before.  This was awful.  The first day the room keys did not work, went back and forth trying keys, waiting in long lines ( no help staff at all) or limited.  Could not get in my room until 6:00 after wasting 5 hours. On top of that when i did get in my luggage was not there until 7:00 and could not get dressed for dinner/  i had charges to my room from other people that were not mine, waited in line for hours, first time and then had to follow up and wait again. They never called back. i also had $50.00 credit that was suppose to be on my card for purchasing and again they would not honor it. multiple times in line, never called back.  At least 7 hours in lines trying to straighten this out.  we always had good luck but this was horrendous.  What will carnival reimburse there customers for such a mess.

Great time as usual by Cruiser881

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Of all the Carnival ships we've sailed on - Carnival Breeze is the most beautiful. The decor is amazing. The food was just ok - not as good as the other ships. Guys Burgers and the Taco/Burrito place didn't disappoint. Jimmy's BBQ was decent. Dining room was good but the selections weren't what they used to be. The shows were good and the comedy was really funny. The casino staff was nice but the downfall was the prices to get on the tables. Slots were a bit stingy. Selections at the shops were great and we bought plenty. Overall it was a great experience.

Carnival Breeze - December 2015 Sailing to the Eastern Caribbean by spinlor

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We've sailed on 5 cruises between Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity...all cruises have had their pros and cons to them and this cruise aboard the Carnival  Breeze was no different.  The Carnival  Breeze ship is nice - the décor is simple, casual and comfortable, the dining room and food was very good, the water works area was fun, even for adults and the itinerary was very good.  Also, since it was December, it was an unexpected surprise to see a beautiful Christmas tree, a Santa Mail box and decorations throughout the boat.  The Dr. Suess theme was fun, even for adults.

The Cons - hard to find a clean table at the breakfast buffet and outside near the pool, never enough chairs to be able to watch the outdoor theatre.  We had an oceanview room on the first floor and it was very noisy from the engine/ship-noise was a bit disturbing.

Overall, it was a good ship and sailing.

2015 cruise by dstiff2001

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

It was an ok cruise but not the best I have been on. Dining room food was not the best and our server was not as friendly as past servers. They charged us gratuity on everything that we bought on the ship and then charged us an additional $72 gratuity per person at the end of the cruise.

Messy, chaotic, not very elegan by jasonlfuchs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Out of the cruises that I have been on this is by far the worst experience that I have ever had.  Normally on a cruise it is exquisitely clean and that was not the case on this ship at all.  Also most the staff on a regular cruise tend to have a lot of energy and excitement again not the case here.  I do want to state that the cleanliness was not 100% on the staff of this ship and a lot of the mess was due to the insane amount of unruly teens and children running around the ship unsupervised creating mess everywhere. (it was so bad we took photos)  The mess that was on the staff was the fact that the tables in the Lido deck were constantly loaded with dirty dishes and staff would just walk by and ignore it leaving messy tables when we came in to dine.  In the room hallways there were dirty plates, bowls, left over food ect for long periods of time.  In the Ovation theatre there were lights out throughout the whole room.

The wait staff walking around sometimes were friendly and sometimes seemed like we were a bother to even deal with. Again, I will state that the fact that there were SO MANY teens unaccompanied by adults running around, making messes, splashing around in the hot tubs all day and night, defacing property, hitting every button in the elevator, 5 year olds ordering sodas at the bar, etc. that this made the trip even less enjoyable. Next the food at dinner.  While the presentation of certain dishes was beautiful many dishes lacked any real flavor and often were misrepresented on the menu.  I remember one dish said Tiger Prawn shrimp and they weren't tiger prawns but just regular small/medium sized shrimp.  When a dish said it was served with Garlic herbed fries what came out was what seemed liked bagged frozen dry french fries. Just major misrepresentations on the menu.  Then any items that seemed like they would be really good were *surprise, surprise* extra costs including other restaurants on the ship.  The 24 hour pizza place always had a line a mile long due to 2 staff people working making 1-2 pizzas at a time.

BINGO was a joke because "money, money, money Martin" was horrible at what he does. He has no ability to draw in his crowd but rather make you irritated. Also, the shows in the evening left a lot to be desired. The dance moves and singing were lackluster at best and many singers were way off tune or flat, and the song selection wasn't the best. But the special effects were great. and stage design was phenomenal. The hypnotist was a joke I would know because I was on the stage and he had to ask half of the people up there to sit because none were really hypnotized.  The one's that remained faked it to be on stage. Our room was horribly noisy.  We were in a balcony room in room 6337.  Right outside of the jacuzzi so I couldn't go out on my deck for privacy but instead felt like a creeper staring at the people in the jacuzzi.  In the evening We could hear everything happening in the casino below to the wee hours of the morning.  The weather the last 3 days was rainy (obviously not the fault of carnival) and the shipped was horribly rocky making us nauseated. Just adding to the bad experience The end of the week party that cruise ships always have was also the worst.  They called it a fiesta!  A fiesta comprises of more than a DJ blaring music and a chips and salsa bar.  I've never seen a cruise ship go so cheap on a party the last evening at see.  This is where you're supposed to pull out all the stops.  and all we get is chips and salsa!??  Cruise ships from the past=whole roasted pigs, amazing ice and fruit sculptures, delicious desserts.

This is not to say that everything on the ship was awful it did have some redeeming qualities thus not a one star review.

First there needs to be a major shout out to Matt (the cruise director)  He is by far the absolute best cruise director I've ever experienced on a cruise.  He deserves every dime that he could ask for and you need to break your backs to keep him.

Next our servers at dinner (IMade and Eli were fantastic, they always looked out for a our table and were energetic and fun)

-Third, Kat from the UK was wonderful! She really had a bright and bubbly personality that was welcoming. Thank you Kat

-Fourth, Guy's Burger joint on the ship was great. Amazing Burgers and Handcut Fries

-And last, the strings trio was amazing! Every night we eagerly awaited the performance they put on for us. They sounded wonderful.

Overall, Carnival lost a lot of respect from both myself and the other 6 passengers traveling with me. Even though we cruise every year, it might be a long time before we even think to use carnival as our vacation destination. They will really have to prove to me that there is something better than the low quality they gave us for the last week before I change my mind.

Not what I expected by jacquebryant64

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

I was disappointed on the Breeze ship.  The mid day foods was always left overs.  My best meal was the last night of the cruise in fine dinning and hamburgers on the lido deck.  Had to request for ice buckets in cabin and fridge to be open in room.  I have cruise on other cruise line and pleased.  Did not have a lot of entertainment like shows etc.

If it was not for Matt the cruise director this would have not been a good trip for me.

First Cruise by jerrycampbellus

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Priority boarding was a pleasure. Cruise activities on board were good - my daughter enjoyed the arcade for the first 2 days. The room was good except for the third bed - it was very uncomfortable. The primary twin bed was very comfortable. The food was very good. The service was good in general and exceptional on the pool bar deck. (Lido). The crew was professional.

The destinations were a mix - Grand Turk was a tourist trap. Dominican Republic was not good. Our group was split up and half were not taken to their destination because the taxi driver wanted 3 times the agreed upon rate - very poor experience. Curacao and Aruba were very enjoyable.

Overall good first experience - it was helpful to travel with 3 other families. Not sure if it would have been so good if that wasn't the case.

We had a family trip which made the experience excellent! The ship was nice and had lots of things to do. The ability to communicate with other guests was great. Did not love the food except for the Guy Fieri burgers which were amazing!!

Critical review by natiyer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

For starters the food:

Lunch was great as you had superbly cooked and server Tandoor food.  The guys working there were awesome - Tauseef, Jinu - Thanks.

Dinner was ok but repetitive for me (Indian Vegetarian).  The servers I had were very good - Teodor - Thanks.

Breakfast - terrible taste.  Eggs were not good quality.  Pastries were old.  Most importantly - the breakfast times are late :  7:30 AM start ?  what a joke.  People are up at 5:30 AM and they need food.  No one wants to wait until 7:30 AM.  Very poorly managed.

Kids Camp - Most terrible customer service.  These girls (some guys) made me feel like they were doing me a major favor by allowing my kids in the camp.  They made faces every time we went there.  Made me feel very unwelcome every time.  They were late to open on most occasions and were always trying to close early and kick my kids out.  The scheduled time to open was also very late.  I guess these girls do not want to work at all.  One of the girls (from South Africa) was very rude to all kids and was constantly mean to them.

A very hectic cruise! by millieanddick

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Breeze / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had cruised on the Breeze before and at that time, had a wonderful experience.  However, this time it was totally different....too many children, too crowded with low-class people.  The only thing that was good was the service by the room steward.  Most of our service and food in the Blush Restaurant was inedible, except for the desserts which were delicious.  One night we arrived and were not attended to for 45 minutes  We spoke up about this situation to the restaurant manager and the service improved inmensely.  My husband was almost beat up by this big guy with a big mouth and body in the atrium.  We will never, ever book a cruise wth Carnival again!!!
