Review summary

We were very excited to have 4 ports to experience on this cruise and that is the reason we traveled to Miami, instead of sailing from Port Canaveral which is much closer to our home.  The morning we were to dock at the Curacao port, the Captain announced that the port had been "double-booked" and that we would not be able to dock.  All shore excursions were cancelled.  How in the world can a port be double booked?  Who is to blame here? That is the only explanation we were ever given and is simply unacceptable.  We finally docked at 7 p.m and were offered a $50.00 per person onboard credit, which is laughable. 1/4 of my trip destinations is only worth $50?  How about someone take responsibility for this huge screw up and offer us a larger refund? Very unsatisfied with the entire handling of this and won't sail Carnival again.

Weber7 - very flippant about a destination that may have decided the cruise. OP said "1/4 of trip 'destinations'."  And eroseman; walking around Curacao after dark is not the same as experiencing the beautiful beaches, and not especially safe for tourists.

Both must be Carnival employees as they jump to defend Carnival to many different Reviewers.

When you plan a vacation based on the destinations it is expected to be disappointed if that destination is canceled.

that sucks that u missed a port but please don't give up on carnival just for that. they have always done their best to resolve any problems.

I agree with @bmac614, this person just wanted people to respond. Figures

And one last thing, you still got to go to Curaçao and walk around. It wasn't like you just skipped a port.

I was on that cruise and the shore excursions were refunded 100%. The cruise director came into the Sapphire dinning room and explained that it was someone in the port's fault and it wasn't Carnival's. (By the way, someone was fired in the port for this.)They also gave everyone in the dining room that night a free glass of wine. I think that they handled the situation very well.

I think it's hilarious how people have 1 bad experience and say they will never cruise said line again. It's only to get people to respond.

Does seem rather odd that a port would be "double booked". We are taking the Breeze through the Western Caribbean itinerary in just over three weeks. We sailed the Sunshine out of Port Canaveral last year and enjoyed the entire experience so thought we would try another of the Dream Class vessels this year.

I'm sure you will get over it :) BTW 1/4 of your trip is inaccurate on time lost.
